Nhl highlights 2023 - The Boston bruins are at it again, and I honestly don't know what to say. Matthew poitras first nhl goal and his second was a game-winner against anaheim and when you look at brad marchand david pastrnak patrice bergeron charlie mcavoy and more, this trend is honestly nuts. Don't forget Johnny Beecher, who has played himself into a 4th line center spot at 22 looking really good there. And they've still got Lysell and Mason Lohrei in Providence waiting to make the jump. Lohrei in particular looked like he could've made the opening day roster at 22, and is sure to be their first call up when injuries happen or if they make moves on the D line. It's strange when year after year the Bruins prospect rankings are terrible, and they're playing at the top of the league with two rookies in key roles and two more that could play if given the opportunity.

@@hossbonaventure Steve Dangle made a great point on his podcast about how the Bruins as an organization aren't the best at finding the best, most dynamic, game changing players in the world. Pasta being the huge exception. But what they are great at is finding guys who play and act exactly like they want for Bruins hockey up and down the roster. Since that's not as desirable to every other team, their prospects tend to get undervalued to a wider audience and they get draft picks a lot later than they should. Real credit to their scouting department in the last few years to finding exactly who the team needs.

And their coaching staff as well. I think over the past few runs guys like Claude Julian and Bruce Cassidy, moreso the later, just haven't emphasized coaching players up as much. Monty was such a breath of fresh air, and its good to see him play the kids and actually coach up/know how to deal with younger players. Also having guys around for a long time like Joe Sacco, and now guys like Quaider and Kelley, it really adds to the entire dynamic and allows younger guys to flourish. How many NHL staffs have that ability? Especially with cup pedigree? @@JoeMagician

His offensive zone edgework is already 99th percentile in the NHL. His keep away skills along the boards and through the O-Zone are reminiscent of Barzal. He needs a lot of work on his transition game, but in the O-Zone, he is already crushing it.

Rushing a kid like this because they need to fill a hole isn’t the best thing. It can really stunt his development. Think of Curtis Lazar when he was drafted by the Senators and immediately made the lineup. Cole Sillinger is a recent example of a hot break out and then the kid not developing properly (it’s early in his career though).

Not rewarding the kid for his effort sends a bad message to the rest of the young guys. And he's certainly handling himself with other NHLers right now, kid has 3pts in 5 games.

He's looked good and it allows you to slot Coyle properly which helps Coyles game too. The only real issue right now is he doesn't take a ton of faceoffs and loses most of what he takes. But that's something that can certainly be worked on. Having Poitras and Zacha as your 1,2 means you'll be chasing the puck a lot. But you do have some guys who are good at faces in your bottom center slots so at least your important defensive zone draws can be won pretty regularly.

They don't need to be interviewing him everywhere he goes to ask the same questions he was asked at the last city he was in!!?? It's been ridiculous how much they've talked about him!!? His 1st game I bet they said his name 60 times+ b4 game was half over and probably over 100 times by end of game!!!?? We get it everyone knows about him and how good he is...they need to lay off and only talk to him if he does something great!!? @@lasttry99 that’s basically where I’m at too. I’m really having a hard time getting into the games knowing they’re pretty much meaningless in the grand scheme. We’ve seen how many presidents trophies with no cup? I’m done celebrating regular season crap. It’s like the same mentality of throwing a parade for Bourque all over again. Soft.

@@davepeach6832 yeah, either way though I don’t even see how it matters. Seeding doesn’t matter and the Bruins have proven being the 1 seed doesn’t help them whatsoever bc they choke every time it matters. I’ll wait to see if they make it outa the first round before I start getting my hopes up again. I’m too old now and been through it too many times to keep being fooled. I see it now. Sadly, they’ve been an underachieving team for at least 50 years. Even the big bad bruins should have won more than one cup

Fun fact. The bruins have NEVER rebuilt. Made the playoffs every year until 1997, then were mediocre from 1998-2004, made the playoffs a few years. Then found Bergeron, then found this poitras guy

They have 1 good win this season 🙄 4 of their wins were against the ducks preds sharks and blackhawks, and they were badly outshot in 3 out of the 5 games. Their next 2 games are against the ducks and blackhawks again so they have had the easiest opening schedule of anyone in the league. Talk to me if they keep it up through November when they start playing some real competition.

Or it might have to do with them playing some of the wrost teams to start the season: hawks, sharks, ducks, average at best predators, and marginal playoff team in la, after having the best record in the NHL last year??? And they play chicago twice in their first 6 games???Who sucking d to get this schedule? Better hold off on your applause consider 60% of their goals are coming from two guys, and their goalies are super hot, we will see in another month where this team is at when they play more than 1 playoff caliber team.
