I once watched the guy that trained me take his uniform shirt off and walk away from his station. He had been loudly considering quitting since I started, so I assumed he did. I worked the meat counter and was left by myself the whole shift, for the 2nd week in a row, on the busiest day. I asked my boss why he didn't get someone from another store to help, and he said budget. I told him now he has the budget and threw my apron on the ground. My dad got me a job at his long time standing cabinet making plant in our tiny town fresh outta high school. He had been there 20+ years and he was tired of me freeloading so he had me apply and he put a great word in for me. He was a forklift operator and they were hiring for another one as the one guy was leaving in a month. So they brought me in and hired me and for the mean time, put me in the shittiest part of the plant. I worked a conveyor belt where 10 foot long pieces of board came onto and you’d have to grab 4-5 of them at a time and stack them all according to the thickness. You were eyeballing quarter inches all day. It was awful. They kept dicking me around telling me they were gonna start my training for forklift next week. After 2 months, I found out that guy never quit and they were just gonna keep me at that conveyor belt as long as possible. I found my dad and asked for the keys to grab my smokes outta the car on morning break and left and never came back. lol. I felt awful cause my dad went to bat for me, but they fucked me royally.
