Hi Alex, thanks for the informative video. Could you maybe go more in details about what one could do if searching the job one has experience and/or education for is failing? You mentioned here the fish factory and getting Norwegian references. I've also heard before that having in particular references from Norway is important. So what are the options to get those? What are the other jobs one can get just to get those references? As someone with over 10 years of some skilled job experience I am also a bit concerned about a) being seen as overqualified b) having an outlier in my CV. Could you share your thoughts on these topics? Thanks!
@ArcticNorthAdventures

The options are something within you education or skillset, as I dont know what you do or what you can do is hard to answer, but in any case I can advise to try to apply for many jobs what you find interesting as possible in the south its sure easier I guess or bigger cities in. the North.

Forget about it, don't waste your time. 1. You don't speak the language. 2. You have no local references, thus, 99% of companies will say something like " We are not sure wheather you know how to work in xxxx culture, speak with xxxx type of people blah blah blah". 3. You experience also does not matter due to the point 2. 4. If you are not from EU, you have no work permit. More than this, think about how small the market in Norway is. Once you loose your job, it will be quite hard to find one again, and if you don't find one, you will be kicked out from there very fast.
Electrician jobs that is fine wonderful. Thanks

Hi, I don't really understand the last part about norwegian culture. Are you saying work culture in norway is stressful? Are people mean for no reason? Or do Norwegians have high expectations of new workers? Do you have any tips for getting used to work in Norway? I'm planning on moving and I want to get integrated in the work culture as easily as possible when I get my first job
@ArcticNorthAdventures

Thanks for watching and replying to my Video, I will try to give as accurate and neutral answer as possible: The culture in Norway, the values, behavior and unwritten rules are so differently from the rest of Europe. This makes it a bit challenging to fit in in the culture at work like in Germany you are really disciplined to be accurate and show up at work, nothing bad about that but if you comment this that someone else is late it can be a big deal, the issue is more if you share facts or opinion they sees it mostly as a complain or negative attitude. I hope this easy example could give you a little bit more understanding about the situation this would or could applied to many other things. I would never see this as a complaint oder negativity as this is the true reality and fact of something actually happened.
Hello, My name is Giordanna. I am a Brazilian with Italian citizenship. I am a trained journalist with experience. I have been accepted into the Master's program in Media Practices at Volda University in Norway. I have enough funds to support myself for six months in Norway without a job. I am fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, though I do not speak Norwegian yet but I plan to learn. My study period is from 8 AM to 3 PM. I am willing to work at night, on weekends, and in any job that pays enough to support myself in Norway. I plan to depart on August 18th of this year. Do you know if Volda, despite being small, has job opportunities? And is there any way I can secure a job before I go? If so, how can I do that?
@ArcticNorthAdventures
15 күн бұрын
"Hello, thank you for watching my video and taking the time to comment. I checked where Volda is located in Norway, and it's south of Ålesund. It's a nice area down there. I'm sure you are able to get a job as it's a student town. You can try getting in touch with the local newspaper or other newspapers in Norway. Otherwise, there might always be some work options locally in shops or industries. I hope I could give you a satisfied answer."

Hello, I never looked it up, not sure how the regulations are for your education in the uk, in my case in Germany they told me it shouldn't be any problem in whole Europe, anyway I had problems as I did not had the 2 year demanded experience from Germany, but its law regulated and then dont needed

Just check the job listings on the websites I recommended in this video, and you might find something. Give them a call or send an email.
