Mr. Grain--pause--Ja ! And yes, I traveled on some really smelly buses, an outhouse in the back of the bus is a piss poor idea, I always wondered why they didn't have a way to prevent the sewage smells from entering the passenger area.

I will never tire of this show, never. I've watched it hundreds of times, yet it is still funny and makes me laugh. The only sad thing is that all these superb actors left us a while back.

Yes, it's very sad that they are all gone now. But what a legacy they've left us. These episodes have been lifting my spirits for years, sometimes with nothing else would do so. That's very special gift of healing and happiness, and hopefully a comfort as well to the friends and family who knew the actors in life.

Both shows are spectacular ! Onslow and the whole cast were hilarious.

I love how on a random workday at least 3 staff members readily have their vacation photographs or brochures to show others

After all these years they STILL make me laugh. A unique team.

Blimey, that "kung fu" coat is one scary piece of garment! !!! 😲 Didn't know mr Humphries had it in him to go berserk.... 😆

Thank you from the borrom of this 70 yr old lady's heart. I've watched them all, over and over a million times. I get a kick laughing at the audience laughing, sometimes very loud, so funny. Great writers with such a blended group of actors. True broadcast magic.........there's no such thing as a NO STAR HOTEL..I love them all and You and KZread for bringing US all back together again.

I Loved the reference to: A One Star Hotel ! And as "Captain" (Corporal) Peacock so aptly put it, there aren't any "No Star Hotels". A "One Star Hotel" is indeed the bottom of the barrel. Or as Grandfather called it; a Hot-Hell !

I forgot about this for years. I now work in a Tuxedo shoppe. This was my favorite show when I was 5, watching it on PBS in the early 90s with my grandparents (it was special cause it was the weekend and I got to stay up late). I cannot tell you how accurate so many of the tailoring jokes are. So spot on.

Try the Benny Hill show. Just as funny as the Are You Being Served Show. Benny Hill show you need to like slapstick comedy. He really had a great cast of characters. It's sad in away, you will never see shows like these two on television any more.

Love that photograph of friendly Don Pedro Alvarez-Cohen! I found that photo on the internet, printed it, framed it, and hung it on the wall. It is always a humourous conversation starter when guests are present!

I remember many years ago working for a clothing store @ the mall, the Mens & Womens Dept. were not together as close like they were. I worked part-time nights, weekends besides my full-time gig, & when I got home from work, PBS would show A.Y.B.S 5 nights a week! i loved this show still, the actors were awesome, talented R.IP! I told my co-workers both guys & gals about the show! I even got a few of them hooked on the show! When we had down time from customers to serve, we would talk about certain episodes @ great length!! There before the grace of GOD went us! lmfao! it was an awesome time!! :)

I discovered this show on PBS in the late 80’s or early 90’s, and I’ve been a fan ever since!!

I love how Corporal Captain Peacock lives up to his name by being true to his nature, a pompous arse. Goldberg pointed out Peacock was a perpetual Corporal, "That man would never have made Captain."

This is what comedy was all about All funny Rest In Peace all of you lovely people

One thing about AYBS was the show props. From the inflating corset to the flashing Santa, this show used them wisely and always brought a laugh..

To me the crazy thing is the applause they get at the very end of the show, like a rock performance after finishing. They were all expert comedic actors, and really played their characters well.

There are so ma h audience laughs that are iconic. One guy goes absolutely ape over seeing Young Mr. Grace emerge from the lift. All he does is walk out with aid from Goddard and his nurse. Some guy yuks it up hard!

ASG...this is exactly what I was talking about...everyone has to be offended; everyone has flaws and I could get into the historical aspects but I think you're too young to understand the subtlety of the jokes. You've been raised in a PC world where Seinfeld, for example, is supposed to be funny. No comments required for this comment.

There are some episodes they won't release because they are afraid of being sued for being "r.a.c.i.s.t. Wish we had access to all the episodes.

Here we go with the religious nonsense, human beings think of ourselves as so important. Compare to the size of the universe the planet we are on is less than a speck of dust.

John Innman, Molly Sugden, Wendy Richards were my favourites but the ensemble cast was excellent. Some of the comedy between Innman and Bannister was just brilliant. Loved the show since I watched as a kid. Have the box set, good for lifting the mood.

She is unanimous in that 😂😂

I love all the technical display props they're using.

Terrific comedy, all characters contribute in their own way

I watch these reruns everyday! This is my all time favorite show❤

I was able to get the entire complete series for Christmas. I couldn’t be more happy.

Mr. Sarcastic We certainly had funny movies growing up and we even laughed at movies like Toy with Richard Pryor and Jackie Gleason, why?? because it was funny that’s why! We didn’t have all the butthurt, busybody, control-freak, sjw, virtue signaling, snowflake, feminists and manginas with self hatred, hypocrisy, and no purpose in life: that we call karens and kyles like what we have today! Always got a meddle, always got to cry about some thing, always got to ruin things for others and purposefully betray their own, and always looking for their safe spaces.

Hello, my name is Gloria. I watch this show every evening and I don't get tired of it. They don't make shows like this anymore . This one is my favorite.

8:08: The sleeve ripping is funny. Trevor and Arthur did a great job!

I LOVE this show. And I think it is a plus how the writers have episodes that highlight the ensemble and ones that focus on certain characters. Bravo and cheerio to the program!!!

It never gets old after 30 years, I guess we all have a sense of humor and it never goes away.

Miss Brahms’s line “oh, don’t they need waiters any time of the year” is one of her funniest deliveries on the show

@@dr.samuelnathanphd5273 I always liked Mr. Granger's ONE single joke in the entire series... It was when they were practicing singing for Mrs. Slocombe's 50th (really not 50th) birthday... They were trying to figure out how many er's to put in the song as a placeholder for her full name... Mr. Granger thought it should be two... er er... because "two err is human".... literally the only punchline he had the entire series and the cast deadpan ignored it.

@@nthingtoofear this is a situation where the joke is for the audience. The staff of the Men’s and Women’s department at Grace Brothers heard a dumb, off handed joke. To them it was just a silly little line for an old suit salesman to laugh at his own wit. For the audience half of the joke is the fact that the rest of the cast did not laugh at it. It was funny because it wasn’t funny to the others. Humor is much more complex than drama. (PLEASE don’t think I am being sarcastic. I realize it could be taken this way.)

@@nthingtoofearGrainger was always more of a comic foil, a straight man, who was usually only funny ironically (like when he dresses funny, falls asleep, etc.) the whole show is a lesson on how to create comedy.

Good actors and even better writers... EPIC

One of the best sitcoms ever. The humor is timeless.

Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?"

Awe part of my child hood memories used to watch it wit my oldest brother

I have watched every episode so many times I lost count and I never get bored.

It's a well-written show.

I remember the first time I was introduced to this show in '95. There was a lineup of four British comedies on PBS that I would watch every night and this was my favorite amongst the four, although I loved "Keeping Up Appearances" and "Chef!." I can't remember the fourth one but it was must watch television for those two hours. This brings back a lot of memories.

Candy Davis (Miss Belfridge) won the Miss Nude pageant in 1982 and subsequently took on the role as buxom blonde secretary.

Now when you go shopping there's no one to help you but I remember stores that were like that but they sure would make shopping fun....I always loved this show

My least favorite part of the show is when it ends..

This is the absolute best fit for a suit if you're in a circus! I can't stop laughing 😂. So, he's very happy with the collar of the suit jacket..,well, that's the highlight of his day.
