No it wasn't, comming from someone who was a second grade high schooler when it came out. It was an action game with survival elemennts where you also kill zombies. Resident Evil never had put horror in the first place. From start you play as a police special force member, armed with pistols, shotguns, machine guns and a rocket launcher. Not the epitomy of scarry if you asked anyone who watched horror movies at the time. It was just high adrenilne action from start to finish with puzzles that were actually braking the paste. That is the reason we don't get tgat many puzzles in RE games anymore, because they break the actionand not the horror.

There’s something about RE1 remake that is unique. The music, atmosphere, and feel is unmatched. No other game in the series comes close. Glad I’m not the only one that loves this game

I think it's bc they simply did just that. Remade and updated while keeping everything else that made it special. They even kept the campiness (don't believe that's a word) of it.

Personally RE1 remake was already good tbh but If they do plan on on remaking RE1, they should group it together with RE0 as DLC.

The remakes are so damn fun that i'll be excited regardless of what capcom choose to do. Bring it on.

I was 14 first time when I played Resident evil 2 at ps1. I had the same feeling, i become scare to open doors in our home and this scares go away when I finish the game.

Resident Evil 1 holds a deep place in my heart I was only 6 or 7 watching my brother from my top bunk bed it was so great! I remember going back to school and talking to class mates and teachers about it they all thought I was Crazy lol but I knew lol Love the videos!

I honestly like the remake as it is I don't really think it needs a re-remake. The camera design and such was what made the game what it was. they better at least allow for it as a option if they go that route

This is obviously for people who haven’t played the game or people like me who don’t care for fixed cameras / tank controls. Capcom is in a very good spot to do 1 again, since 2026 is right around the corner and will be the 30 year anniversary of the original game. It’s not on everyone’s wish list but the Capcom is dedicated to making remakes right now, why have the first game be the only one not in this new continuity. Also they’ll be able to set up RE5 better by doing 1 then CV, here’s hoping this is the release schedule: RE9: 2025 RE1RR: 2026 RE:CVR: 2027 RE5R: 2029 RE6R/RE10/Other: 2030

I sense you're not very old given your idealised release schedule. Even if Capcom as you say is 'dedicated' to remakes right now, I'm sorry but there's no way on earth they're going to pump out 5 remakes in the space of 6 years... You're deluded. Bear in mind they worked on RE2R and RE3R at the similar sort of time but had a smaller team working on RE3R and it produced a weaker entry that was more heavily criticised as a result. RE2R was 2019, RE3R was 2020 but then a 3 year gap to release RE4R... Games of high quality and taking care in balancing honouring the original but bringing fresh life to the game will take a good 2-3 years to produce, you simply cannot rush them. RECVR is similar in story length to RE4, however I feel that RECVR has much more environments to cover and playing as both Claire and Chris, as well as even a segment as Steve, makes it in some aspects bigger than RE4. RECV also has a bigger ending section than RE4 because of Antarctica and the mansion rooms that were used, not only this but the number of bosses towards the end and having to fit in all the storylines around the Alfred and Alexia Ashford characters, as well as the building up of the story between Chris and Wesker. Even if they already began working on RECVR in 2023, the EARLIEST that will be released is 2026. If they even had a separate team working on RE9 then yes there's possibly a chance that could release in 2025 or 2027. But after that, they'd need another 3 years to work on RE5R and that would take us to the end of the decade. RE5R would have to follow events of both RE4R and RECVR very closely for continuity, and I honestly don't think they can release RE5R before RECVR if they want to continue telling a fantastic story in the way it's supposed to be told. The Veronica Virus was a step towards Wesker trying to combine himself with a more powerful virus but he ended up going with the Uroboros from RE5. But without the stepping stone of RECV, it just seems a bit too much of a jump from Wesker having not really had much screen time at all in the RE2R, RE3R and RE4R to then suddenly being the baddest RER enemy of all time. We have had some good character building so far with Leon in his two outings and now it is Claire's turn to have her second outing in a CVR along with Chris having his first major Remake outing before setting him up for the showdown with Wesker in RE5R.

@@BryJovi17 I'm 32, from 1996 to 2002 Capcom released 9 RE games 8 of which were not remakes. Now if we take out the original RE1 which was in development earlier than 96 that's still 8 games from 96-02. 98, 99, two in 00, 01 and three in 02, they've already shown that they're capable and if you want to take out survivor and Gaiden that's still 5 games. Now to help you count I suggested four remakes not five and RE6R being optional because it's a larger game, now those four games aren't being built from the ground up the story is already there, so that's less time getting a story and RE9 has been in development since who knows how long. To think that it's not likely is fine but don't come over with your nose in the air like you're the game making connoisseur.

For a start video game studios have ballooned in their size, both with respect to how many people are involved in them and this is distinctly visible in the ending credits of most modern games. I'm not saying that games from the late 90s are inferior, they just had smaller development teams than today and had less to work with all around - lower budgets, less technological advancements, weaker graphics and as a whole the games being developed were therefore much smaller in computing size, processing capabilities and as an overall package. Games released back then were released as a finished product because there was no option to patch games with updates via the internet back then either. So with everything there considered, yes, it might have been possible back then in that time to pump out 9 RE games but not in today's environment. Everything just takes longer today whether it's the legal aspect, the underlying gaming engine that's used, the promotional material that goes into each title. Well done in correcting me with four remakes instead of five. Yes, I was meant to specifically say four remakes and one new title, but that's five games total, so I was half right in what I was saying, and I'm pretty sure you have enough brain cells to have worked that out. RE1-3 all involved pre-rendered backgrounds and parts of RE2 (the RPD police station) were simply recycled into RE3 in the late 90s. Compared to remakes to today, you can't just copy and paste renderings, though you have some extent of copying assets where there are repeated visual elements of the environment. Yes the stories are mainly already there, but it's still going to require finessing them to fit the most recent remakes so that there is believable continuity. The importance of building Claire's character in RECVR will be pivotal to it's success, because the introduction to RE4R had valuable flashbacks to the earlier events of RE2R. An added difficulty as I've already mentioned is the character of Chris, because we haven't once seen him in a modern remake, so the casting of this character will take time, whether it's going to be the voice only or both voice and motion. There will need to be good chemistry between the person who plays him, Claire (his sister) and Wesker. We will see how they get on but let's see how well this discussion holds up by 2026 shall we. Wesker was a mystery in RE4 remake, if we look at it from the POV of a new RE gamer. We can't assume that everyone knows who wesker was. In RE7 RE2RE,RE3Make there was no wesker. There are tons of new gamers that never experienced the Wesker rivalry. Capcom needs to consider them. They will carry the residen evil legacy with them longer that us older people. A re1 remake would be great for the newer people go understand where the rivalry started between younger Chris and Wesker. Because a ton of new RE gamers only got to know Chris as an older man in RE7 and 8

This! I was introduced to RE universe with RE2 remake. Then I played the rest of newer games (made in RE Engine) and watched various videos on what was in original games. But it's different to have to watch a video about it than actually play it and feel it. RE1 remake remake would fix it. It's odd to imagine we'd be introduced to RE5 without understanding who Wesker is, how well did Chris know Jill (new players never saw them interact or mention each other).

With Wesker's new mo cap and voice actor, i wouldn't be surprised if it's already in development. Rightfully so . Personally, i miss Zombies.. we haven't had a RE zombie title since RE2R. I'm ready to see Crimson Heads in 2025.

I was always thinking that they should integrate Zero in ReRemake somehow. Because Zero will never get a remake of its own. Story would need to be altered a bit though. Also I think that they should remake 1, CV and 5, and in that specific order, that way they would cover Wesker vs Chris saga in chronological order.

The second you mentioned REmake is your favorite one, I had to then like and subscribe. I'll always support like-minded individuals. 🙌🏼

I absolutely love the current RE1 Remake that we have. However, there is no doubt that another remake in the RE engine would be INSANE. As long as Capcom puts in the same amount of effort that they put into the RE4 Remake, then a modern RE1 Remake has the potential to be the most definitive Resident Evil game 🔥

My concern isn't necessarily the remake itself, but the fact that if they remade 1 again. We absolutely know they would cut content and change the official story. It's already happened with Resident evil 2 remake and 3 and 4's. I honestly don't know how they'll be able to remake an already iconic game and turn into a modern masterpiece, but who knows I could be wrong.

I never really was into the original RE4 anyway (not a bad game, just prefer that classic 3rd person camera angles ect) but I have seen a few reviews about remake 4 that explain their dislikes about the cut content ect. Idk in my opinion it just seems like new shiny graphics=modern masterpiece. The same happened with remake 2.

It's like people nowadays only care about how developers redo a game with modern technology and not how they learn the classics thoroughly and come up with creative ways to build on them. RE2make did a decent job but it fumbled many aspects from the original and people completely overlooked it, especially many OSTs aren't that impressive and iconic -_-. Because most of those who defend the remakes either never played and enjoyed the orignals thoroughly so they don't see the flaws between the remake and the OGs, or they can't familiarize with the old control scheme, or they just have shtty standards of what makes a remake a "masterpiece"...

We do know Capcom works on multiple projects each year and despite taking a year, they always deliver great quality graphics and gameplay. I believe it’s possible that we could possibly but unlikely get RE1, RE5 and Code Veronica the same year but re1 might come out first and then CV and RE5 might come out a couple months after that one. It’s unlikely but it’s a fun guess.

Nostalgia is the exact reason I love the RE2 remake so much. RE 2 has always been my favorite of the series. If they made RE1 in the style of 2 & 3, that would be extremely awesome. I wouldn’t be opposed to the idea.

This re-make was perfection, it should be the standard for re-makes

I’ve recently been playing the RE1 remaster (a LOT). It doesn’t need redoing at all, I’ve enjoyed playing it much more than some of the AAA titles of late and it cost me £2.99! I’ve been questioning lately if games aren’t as good as they used to be, and in playing this game it sort of confirmed it for me. Also the fact that they seem to be remastering a lot of games over the last few years, says that they were better.

It's a great setting! Still my favorite to this day. A giant "haunted" spooky mansion...classic horror

I'd say give you the option to play either fixed camera or dynamic camera like re2 remake. I would like the idea of Lisa following in the mansion. make her slightly taller and after you initial interaction with her, she escapes her area and if now loose in the mansion after. I feel like when the persuer is done right it really adds to the scares in the game. still would like Code veronica remade but absolutely would like to see an updated version of re1 remake with the more up to models.

It took me a long time to start enjoying resident evil 1 only because tank controls were foreign to me. Resident evil 2 was the only game prior to that where I played through it all on game cube. But for some reason resident evil 1 was just to hard at the time for me. Then when it came out for the playstation 4 I tried it again, and absolutely loved it. It’s something you’ll never experience with the other games in the series.

I always thought it made more sense to remake 1 before 5, seeing how Wesker, Jill, and Chris are prominent in both, it just depends if they see 1 worth remaking again.

Every time I hear the words "Resident Evil 3" I get depressed because RE 3: Nemesis was my personal favorite out of the original trilogy. RE 3 Remake was just...bleh. Like a pizza with all the toppings taken off.

I hope it is remade. I absolutely loved it and the Director's Cut version. Playing it today is just so frustrating because of the fixed camera views. If the developers keep the story the same, it will be a huge success.

I don't care what anyone says, RE1 needs to be left alone & not be given another REmake with the over-the-shoulder camera. It is fixed camera survival horror perfected. Let's leave at least RE1 & RE0 as the lasting legacies of classic RE. However, I'm okay with(read: cautiously optimistic) CVX getting a REmake as long as they don't change Alfred for *cue Critical Drinker's* "Modern audience". That would be awful. Resident Evil Sega Saturn Resident Evil 1 PSX Resident Evil Director's Cut REmake GC RE DS That's 5 versions off the top of my head. All with different graphics/features/gameplay etc What's wrong with another one? Also, yeah, I'd really like an expansive RE1 that maybe even includes new segments. Like let's be able to walk through RPD before the outbreak? Encounter Marvin and other characters? Like the new RE wouldnt start gameplay in the mansion, it would start the night STARS are brought in and debriefed. So you'd have to make your way to the station, get debriefed by Wesker, get to the rooftop, travel to Arklay, fight the dogs and run to the mansion.

What we need is a remake in VR. I'd quit playing video games forever after that 😂

YES. I been waiting 20 years on this on.. when I first came out my statement was (Imagine this in 3d) that was Year 2000

I love RE1. I still have a digital copy of it and Biohazard 1 on my PS3 super slim and play it every now and then. Then I also have the REmake remaster on PS3 and 4. I have the Biohazard remake remaster version on PS3 and it's cool playing it with the Japanese voices plus it has a bonus video which unfortunately wasn't ported to the REmake remaster.

Forest zombie would be a good stalker in a possible reimagining of the Re1 remake. And it would be interesting to have an ending with all 4, Chris, Jill, Barry and Rebecca together.

And burning dead bodies! This was creepy and crucial. CRIMSON ZOMBIES!!! absolutely agree with the need for flashlights and re write it so it makes more sense for Re0 to play in as a important factor.

I believe it is necessary for a remake. They should remake it but give it different formats of gameplay that can be chosen by the gamer. Fixed cam, first person, over the shoulder, VR, and possibly another version I haven't thought of. That alone will give you 4 to 5 reasons to replay it

I also hope that there will be an option for the fixed camera to turn on or off, which I would also like to see for Resident Evil 2 Remake such an option for the console players because PC players canMods

I just finished RE2 and it was my first time playing I can honestly i really enjoyed the game I played as Clair and I’m planning to play RE1 before playing 3 but it says there’s another story for playing second time so I might play it again with both characters Leaon and Clair I will probably play the entire Series.

Much as I love the first remake, it's dated. It has held up well and the remaster for newer consoles gave it a fresher look. But I would love to see what the devs can do with the Spencer Mansion and its various horrors. They did wonders with the Police Station, the NEST lab, Spencer Memorial Hospital and various other locales. I'd like to see that expertise applied to the place where it all began. Hell, whilst they are at it, make a Zero remake to boot. Give the Ecliptic Express and the Training Facility some love.

Id love to see remakes of 2 and 3 and CVX based on REmake engine

I want to wait and see how the new engine is first. Because dragons dogma 2 is rough. I am excited for anything resident evil should be remade. We should see more of Wesker and Berry. They were busy doing things while other characters were. They could expand the game and really give us a new perspective on the game. The key focus of making zombies scary again. I liked the idea they had with resident evil 2. People complain that they were more tanky or punish you when you played well. Overall resident evil 2 make was wonderful. Players always want more and wish they expand ideas. I think we should be happy with what we got because games are hard to make with time constraints. We can sit here wondering or hoping. At the end of the day they are one and done products that capcom puts out.

To me the same could be said about RE5. Does it need a remake? Sure, in both games there are elements the remake could improve (both games have dated controls; still playable, but dated). In both cases, remake would be polishing the game, not bringing it back to life as RE2/RE3 remakes did. So if they are to remake another game just to polish it, I'd prefer it to be RE1, as it would give new fans notion of who Wesker is. If they'd include RE0 as DLC or prologue I'd love it.

I hope if they did make another remake of RE1, they should combined it with RE0 because the way Rebecca was written in RE0 and RE1 was so diffferent and I just want them to change that and also I saw comments saying if they did remake it then RE Code Veronica and RE5 makes more sense. It could be like a Wesker trilogy of sort

Same to me , I played re 1 remake first and years later the original , but I agree with you for me it's the best one..

I feel like we definitely need code Veronica remake but a zero remake doesn't sound to bad either, maybe implement online coop thatll be like a test version for re5 remake🤷🏽‍♂️

Id love a Remake in modern control's, I just can't find my way around tank controls and it's unfortunate because I'd really like to experience the beginning of the story, but I can't get into because of the controls.

I think they should remake it combined with a remake of Zero, and maybe let us play as some of the other Alpha & Bravo team members temporarily

I think they actually did a good job on the nemesis of re3 remake. This nemesis is insanely overpowered. Trying to fight something like that in a cramped police station is absolutely not done. Even the most experienced gamer at the most easiest setting would get fucked by this nemesis. Thats why i think having nemesis in scripted events on more open fields like in re3 remake was a better idea.

I do think the first sentence should be only directed towards Nemesis in your viewpoint, not the entirety of the game. If they can remake Nemesis to such a "perfect" extent then why wouldn't they give the same treatment to the grave digger, the interior of clock tower, the park, etc? If RE2make gave more screentime and background story for Kendo then why wouldn't the same be done to Dario Rosso and the woman that we saw running from the zombies in the OG RE3? I understand it's possibly due to budget constraints and time limit but they can't just call something a remake when it obviously has a lot of DEMAKE in it, and then think their shit is superior?

Word is the next game is gonna be “completely unexpected”… honestly I kinda hope they can make a game with replay ability that doesn’t suck… I’ll say it “live service” PvE or maybe PvP or mixed… if done right that could be a way to enjoy resident evil longer but I know every attempt so far has been a miss…

i think its been done to death tbh, id prefer dino crisis, code veronica or a new RE. The problem with RE1 is, it's only in a Mansion and the story stays within it's confines.

We should get the OG RE games remade, some of us didn’t play it and they can be improved on

Honestly the only reason I want a re remake of the first game is to get rid of those giant ass spiders it’s the only thing that stops me playing the original id deal with the tank controls and fixed cameras 😭

Hopefully YES. Give every mainline Resident Evil game (before RE7), the RE Engine remake treatment.

I imagine areas would be more fleshed out/reworked. Similar to how they handled some areas in the remakes. The dock area right before Del Lago in RE4, for example

Know you, Until Dawn game had fixed, semi fixed and 3rd person camera angles . If done right a remake could try it like that, but I understand there was no combat in that game so . Just a possible option

i had a very similar experience but in sega saturn when i was 13....also left it and nver touched it again untill the reamke in gamecube...also my fav re game

hope so. appreciate the HD version gave an option to toggle off tank controls but the ribbion system is a deal breaker. i understand it an other way to add tension but it feels artificial so it seems like it would be more annoying than anything. especailly because many of the traps arent well telegraphed if at all so its mostly trial and error. from what i can tell, only those who grew up with it and therefore are blind to those issues argue against a remake...but honestly...most of the originals don't hold up. i for one would love a proper version of 1 and CVX

@@SgtFidget great idea ! In the first original re1 I opened the mansion door to get out but then I got a big surprise because the zombie dog tries to get into the mansion lmao. In the remake the dog can even get inside

If they remake RE1, I hope they will start updating director's cut and improve graphics for RE2, RE3, and RE4 before release RE5.

In all honesty i would love if they did make a remake of RE1, just because it's an unpopular opinion but since I grew up playing on newer generation consoles (for example Xbox 360) I seriously struggle with the rough janky controls of older games and the fixed camera angles. I find the original RE1 and even the remaster borderline unplayable just because I can't work with the controls and fixed camera angles. Whereas with the remake of 2 3 & 4 I absolutely love them, I've completed all three multiple times and I love playing them. If they did make a remake of 1 with the same graphics, controls and camera work of the newer remakes then if absolutely get it and love it
