Are There Symptoms Of High B12?

Ғылым және технология

Are you having symptoms of high b12? Maybe you're having anxiety, headaches, heart palpitations in other symptoms that you think are related to high B12 levels? In this video, we're gonna look the symptoms associated with taking b12 and why I think high B12 symptoms are probably a reflection Of some other process going on in your body.
Learn More in My Book "Don't B12 Deficient": geni.us/SNe6 (Amazon)
So the thing is, high B12 levels should not actually cause symptoms. However, there are two things to note about this question or concern of high B12 levels and symptoms. The first is vitamin B12 supplementation, whether it's an injection taken by mouth or under the tongue, can cause side effects. It's not very common, but it can't happen. This can be symptoms like anxiety, heart palpitations, headaches, et cetera. These symptoms can occur , even when you take a small dose of vitamin b12.
00:00 Introduction to High B12 Symptoms and Overview
01:11 Understanding High B12 Levels and Associated Symptoms
03:25 Conclusion and Invitation for Questions
So it's typically not from high B12 levels but something intrinsic with how that person is processing the vitamin b12. And sometimes it could be the type of B12 too. It's also true that a small dose is less likely to cause these side effects, but it's really not the high serum blood levels that's causing these side effects with b12.
We know this because if we change to a different form, the person doesn't seem to have the same side effects. The other thing is that high B12 levels in and of themselves do not cause symptoms typically. However, high B12 blood levels can be a sign of some other problem going on.
Just to be clear, a high level of B12 in your blood does not tell us that you have a problem, but it may be an indicator of a problem. What problem might that be? Well, there's a lot of possibilities. One being mass cell activation syndrome, which can cause a wide array of different symptoms, including anxiety, heart palpitations, headaches, hives, skin rash, et cetera.
B12 side effects are also more common in people with mass cell activation syndrome. So symptoms of high B12 may be a reflection of something else going on in your body. If you have high B12 levels and you're having certain symptoms going on maybe it has more to do with something internally going on and not the B12 itself.
So if you have these symptoms going on and you're thinking that it's a B12 causing the symptoms you may be looking in the wrong place.

It is just crazy that Doctors do not get nutrition training in Medical schools. Every doctor visit should include some nutrition discussion. The majority of the population is over weight or obese leading to high blood pressure, heart disease and cancer. Schools and hospital cafeterias should be leading the way to good health by setting the example of what is a healthy meal and teaching people what to eat and why.. Every person in the hospital for heart disease should have a nutrition class before being checked out from the hospital with follow up education and training in nutrition. Medicare and Medicaid should require patient nutrition education as part of their standard of care. Nutrition information should be run on the hospital TV channel.

Thank you, Dr. Terranella! I've been having B12 deficiency symptoms, mostly just what you said. I /think/ it is related to over methylation as I was taking methylcobalamin & methylfolate. My doctor said my B12 was elevated so I quit taking it for a while. Maybe that caused low B12? I was still taking other B vitamins, so I thought I should be getting enough. But the methyl versions may be the issue. I stopped taking methyl versions 12/23 or 01/24. I eat beef liver, meat, & eggs, mostly so I didn't think it would be a problem but I've been having severe insomnia. I'm getting tested tomorrow so maybe I'll know soon.

Hi there I have >1500 B12 labs for about a year. I have had debilitating, chronic fatigue/fibromyalgia/Lyme for nearly 30 years and stopped being able to work with more advanced doctors like you about six years ago due to finances. So now I’m getting these readings through my regular PCP, and she has sent me to a hematologist, but I have to wait months for that appointment and meanwhile my fatigue is unbelievably even more debilitating than usual, I need even more sleep like 14 hours for a chance to function and then I’m totally exhausted anyway. We did the lab for intrinsic factor and my result was abnormal i.e. positive instead of negative which is it supposed to be. It seems like it’s pretty clear that the lack of intrinsic factor means you have pernicious anemia. Do you agree with that? thank you so much for your videos and your help!

Also that I was positive for mono NOT Epstein Bar like it usually comes up because of past infection when I was a teen. I have chronic lymph nodes that swell the same as when I had mono 25+ years ago and all symptoms come bk like mono and Lyme if not rested / stressed ect . Just curious if you have any of these symptoms?

Both of you can look up MTHFR. Possible you have that gene variant. You should try to supplement methylfolate in drops. But careful start with one drop per day and work up to 1 drop 8 times a day. 1 drop being 100micrograms. It can irritate you a lot at the beginning and can make you restless at the beginning because your body was lacking it the whole time and now must adjust handling it. Your body is bad at producing it with this gene variant plus mono or Lyme infection can reduce it further. So you get trapped in this vicious cycle.. You can further support methylation by taking creatine, cholin and lecithin. Cholin 2-3x the normal dose ❤ Write me if you are going to try it and if it helps
