In principle, the name Abdallah is also a name that was common among Middle Eastern Jews, mainly in Iraq, for the Hebrew name Ovadia . The name was changed as a given name and remained as a surname for the generations of that person.

4 REASONS YOU SHOULD NOT PRAY TO MARY 1. THERE IS ONLY ONE MEDIATOR 1 Timothy 2:5 says, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity-the man Christ Jesus. This confirms we don’t need a “go-between.” We don’t need a middle-man (or woman) beyond Christ. When Jesus died, shed His blood, and was raised from the dead the need to have someone (e.g. high priest) represent us was ripped away just like the curtain that tore from top to bottom. 2. GOD ALONE SHOULD BE WORSHIPPED Luke 4:8 says, Jesus replied, “The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’” Praying to Mary and/or any living or deceased saints is an act of worship…which is reserved for God alone. When Jesus modeled prayer (Matthew 6:7-13) He began with, “Our Father in Heaven.” No where in Scripture is it suggested that we pray to Mary or any other deceased saints. 3. MARY WORSHIPPED JESUS AS GOD In Acts 1 the disciples and about 120 believers were in an upper room waiting for the promise of the Holy Spirit (at Jesus’ command). Guess who was present with them? Mary. What was she doing? Praying. Acts 1:14 says, They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus. It’s important to note that the apostles weren’t praying to Mary as a go between. She was joined with them in prayer…to GOD. 4. MARY WAS A SINNER IN NEED OF A SAVIOR According to Psalm 51:5 we are all born as sinners in need of a Savior, Mary included. Mary was highly favored, not sinless. There is not one scripture to support that Mary was without sin. JESUS is the only one who never sinned (2 Corinthians 5:21, Hebrews 4:15, 1 Peter 2:22) which explains why Mary had to be impregnated by the Holy Spirit. Extras • The Bible is about JESUS, after all Jesus is the Living Word (John 1:14). The Old Testament points to JESUS. The New Testament is about Jesus. The authors of the four Gospels saw JESUS as the central figure and only mention Mary in reference to JESUS. The word “Jesus” is mentioned 1,478 times in the New Testament. The word “Mary” is only mentioned 55 times and some of those are in reference to Mary Magdalene. Also, Jesus is referenced in 26 of 27 New Testament books. • Mary can’t hear you. Only God can hear all of our prayers as He is the only one omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent. • Mary was not even recognized in Scripture as a leader in the early Church. Peter is the one who stood up, addressed the crowd, and preached in Acts 1, not Mary. • JESUS is the only Way, Truth, and Life. No one can come to the Father, except through JESUS. • The TRUE second commandment: Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. How is it illegal occupation when the United Nations voted on it in 1947? They originally offered the Arabs a greater piece of the land but they refused while the Jews accepted. Who’s fault is that? Do you consider American control of former Native Indian and Mexican lands occupation as well? Practically any nation could claim that at some point in time a piece of land belonged to its people but history is history. Most nations move on and accept the change.

To explain, Muslims actually believe in Jesus as a prophet and respect him the same as they believe in Mohamed, but they don't believe that he is a god or god's son, neither he was killed. Muslims believe that when they tried to kill Jesus Allah wanted to protect his prophet and took him to heaven. Muslims also believe that Jesus is still alive and will come at the end of times to lead humanity and spread fairness.

Iqbal Hakim Skin tone is generated by melanin levels. That picture is from a documentary where they took a skull from the period and computer generated a face on it. The face itself is random. There is no way to find out what Jesus would have looked like because all human skulls are the same, and there is no way to determine someones skin tone by their skull alone. The Samaritans have remained in the same cluster of villages outside of Nablus for 3,000 years. There is only 700 of them, and they're all 100% Semitic Hebrew. They look no different than Jews. Truth be told; for Palestinian Christians, Islam has been as much a problem as is the Israeli occupation. Probably only a few know the age old saying among Muslim Palestinians: "we finish with Saturday and turn on Sunday", meaning once they're done with the Jews, they'll turn against Christians. Oh yes, this is something my great grandparents experienced firsthand during the late 1800s and early 1900s, when the state of Israel was being heralded. My mother's uncle was a chieftain among Christians, whose problem was with the Muslims even before the Jews. Episodes of Muslim takeover of Christian property were frequently reported, and one in particular is well documented, of the delegate of the patriarch of Haifa and Galilee to retrieve a Christian cemetery from their grip up in Mt. Carmel ended up dead by their hands crushing his scull. Bottom line, folks: ever since the Islamic invasion of Palestine in 638 AD, it became a less and less welcoming home for Christians, as has anywhere where Islam took over authority and rule of law. Read the Pact of Umar; the conditions for insurance of safety for Christians and their families and possessions; you'll see what I mean.

It's well known that a muslim family have for centuries been taking care/ owning the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. By also hearing stories from my grandparents there were never an issue between muslims and christians. Even Palestinian jews... So I know for a fact that what you say isn't true.

I understand what you’re saying. I myself am a Muslim and I do believe you as discrimination against religious minorities is very common in human societies. What I don’t understand is the denial amongst Muslims and Jews that christians (being a minority then AND now) have suffered under the rule of both religions. Honestly I don’t think that telling the truth about the struggle of minorities degrades the other religions in any way. I mean, this is an issue that we do need to work on despite religious affiliation. Likewise minority Muslims and Jews are being oppressed and discriminated against in countries that have a majority of Christians (or any other religion, really). It seems to be a practice natural to human race, although this does not justify it.

But from how you described it, it sounds like Palestinian Christians have dropped proportionally, not just numbers-wise. The restrictions you mentioned sound like they hit all Palestinians, not just Christians, so is there are reason why Christians in particular are emigrating? Is the repression particularly vicious against them? Is it just easier for Christians to emigrate to Europe or the US? Do the Islamist factions of various Palestinian liberation movements target Christians? Or is it just that they're a smaller group within Palestinian society, and therefore mass emigration hits them more proportionally?

***** There is one more thing people don't understand... There was a difference between Palestinian Christians and Muslims that explain why Christians left in bigger numbers then Muslims. In that time.. 1948/67.. they were much more connected to Christians in Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and other countries and it was much easier for them to live. David Lev It's true the Christian PROPORTION has declined, not the Christian population as a whole. In the 1945 census of Palestine there were 135,000 Christians and now there are around 180,000 Christians - although this figure is drastically lower than what it would be if the Nakba and other events never happened. Them immigrating isn't the only reason for their reduced proportion of the population since 1945, other reasons include there now being over 6.3 million Jews compared to just 135,000 in 1945 and 70,000 in 1920. Another reason being that Christians continue to have the lowest fertility rate of all religions in the 'Holy Land' - lower than the fertility rates of Muslims, Jews and Druze. Regarding higher rates of Christian immigration from Palestine compared to Muslim immigration, I would say it is down to economics, one of them being that Christians are more educated and skilled than Muslims, therefore finding it easier to immigrate to western countries. A side effect of Christians being richer and educated is they have more to lose than Muslims. As an example: a survey found that 54.7% of Christians say they or their relatives have had their land confiscated by Israel, compared to 37.7% of Muslims. Because originally before 1948 christians were already less than muslims and also the areas on which ethnical cleansing took place were the central places where Palestinian christians lived like Haifa Jaffa and west Jerusalem and when ethnical cleansing took place many christians died and many left outside to lebanon and syria and then to Europe and America so the west bank and Gaza were not originally crowded with christian population and now both christians and muslims leave to work outside and find a better living so logically the muslims will still be more in number

4 REASONS YOU SHOULD NOT PRAY TO MARY 1. THERE IS ONLY ONE MEDIATOR 1 Timothy 2:5 says, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity-the man Christ Jesus. This confirms we don’t need a “go-between.” We don’t need a middle-man (or woman) beyond Christ. When Jesus died, shed His blood, and was raised from the dead the need to have someone (e.g. high priest) represent us was ripped away just like the curtain that tore from top to bottom. 2. GOD ALONE SHOULD BE WORSHIPPED Luke 4:8 says, Jesus replied, “The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’” Praying to Mary and/or any living or deceased saints is an act of worship…which is reserved for God alone. When Jesus modeled prayer (Matthew 6:7-13) He began with, “Our Father in Heaven.” No where in Scripture is it suggested that we pray to Mary or any other deceased saints. 3. MARY WORSHIPPED JESUS AS GOD In Acts 1 the disciples and about 120 believers were in an upper room waiting for the promise of the Holy Spirit (at Jesus’ command). Guess who was present with them? Mary. What was she doing? Praying. Acts 1:14 says, They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus. It’s important to note that the apostles weren’t praying to Mary as a go between. She was joined with them in prayer…to GOD. 4. MARY WAS A SINNER IN NEED OF A SAVIOR According to Psalm 51:5 we are all born as sinners in need of a Savior, Mary included. Mary was highly favored, not sinless. There is not one scripture to support that Mary was without sin. JESUS is the only one who never sinned (2 Corinthians 5:21, Hebrews 4:15, 1 Peter 2:22) which explains why Mary had to be impregnated by the Holy Spirit. Extras • The Bible is about JESUS, after all Jesus is the Living Word (John 1:14). The Old Testament points to JESUS. The New Testament is about Jesus. The authors of the four Gospels saw JESUS as the central figure and only mention Mary in reference to JESUS. The word “Jesus” is mentioned 1,478 times in the New Testament. The word “Mary” is only mentioned 55 times and some of those are in reference to Mary Magdalene. Also, Jesus is referenced in 26 of 27 New Testament books. • Mary can’t hear you. Blaming the dwindling percentage of Christians there on just the Israeli occupation is a bit simplistic. I’m sure it’s a little more complicated than that. They generally have less children than Muslims do so obviously the percentage will shrink. Also many people migrated to Western countries for better opportunities for themselves and their families.

When Jesus modeled prayer (Matthew 6:7-13) He began with, “Our Father in Heaven.” No where in Scripture is it suggested that we pray to Mary or any other deceased saints. 3. MARY WORSHIPPED JESUS AS GOD In Acts 1 the disciples and about 120 believers were in an upper room waiting for the promise of the Holy Spirit (at Jesus’ command). Guess who was present with them? Mary. What was she doing? Praying. Acts 1:14 says, They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus. It’s important to note that the apostles weren’t praying to Mary as a go between. She was joined with them in prayer…to GOD. 4. MARY WAS A SINNER IN NEED OF A SAVIOR According to Psalm 51:5 we are all born as sinners in need of a Savior, Mary included. Mary was highly favored, not sinless. There is not one scripture to support that Mary was without sin. JESUS is the only one who never sinned (2 Corinthians 5:21, Hebrews 4:15, 1 Peter 2:22) which explains why Mary had to be impregnated by the Holy Spirit. Extras • The Bible is about JESUS, after all Jesus is the Living Word (John 1:14). The Old Testament points to JESUS. The New Testament is about Jesus. The authors of the four Gospels saw JESUS as the central figure and only mention Mary in reference to JESUS. The word “Jesus” is mentioned 1,478 times in the New Testament. The word “Mary” is only mentioned 55 times and some of those are in reference to Mary Magdalene. Also, Jesus is referenced in 26 of 27 New Testament books. • Mary can’t hear you. So many of you are missing the point. Was the Messiah Jewish or Christian? Was his birth place Palestine or Judea? Your drifting away from the point that Christians are being persecuted.

The Palestinians are the descendants of Judea they are, thus the Israelites (they just converted to Islam and Christianity, some didn't) and not some European converts coming to colonize the land.

I'm a Muslim, I love jesus too.. so are the rest of muslims in existence

In short, we both like to have PIECE on earth. No fight anymore. No sadness and no pain, Jesus said. Love each other and forgive each other. We are both brother and sisters. Bethlehem, Jerusalem is now part of Palestine so technically Jesus is not from Palestine but He is historically lived there so Palestinians can be proud of Him as the Westerners do. He can be called an honorary citizen because of His great relevance to the people of Palestine.

Historically speaking, Jesus was neither an Israeli or a Palestinian. Both identities are relatively recent. Religiously speaking, Jesus was the Son of God and the Son of God does not have a political identity. Interestingly, historical Jesus shares more DNA with modern day Palestinians than Ashkenazi Jews.

Also, I hate to be "that guy," but Jesus was technically speaking a Judaen, as he was born in the Roman province of Judea (which was renamed "Syria Palestina" after an unsucessful Jewish revolt after he died)

There is Christian in Palestine The majority are in Bethlehem, Jerusalem area. There were at one time Ramallah was full of Christians and other towns as well. Us Palestinian does not matter what faith you practice. I have allot of Palestinian Christian/Muslim friends and my dad family is Samaritan from Nablus/Shechem. I been to Mass, Mosque, etc. To give my respect. This is how I was brought up to respect all belief.
