Are there any laws about keeping chickens?

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Are there any laws about keeping chickens? Well, no, not specifically. But there are laws and legislation that can be used, and should be considered before you start keeping chickens.
Firstly, we speak about the allotment act of 1950 (I got the year wrong in the video). More details on it, can be read here, and section 12 relates to chickens and rabbits
www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/...
Otherwise, check there are no land restrictions, look after your birds, and don't annoy the neighbours, and you'll be fine 👍

Luckily I’m in Belgium 🇧🇪 there’s no law regarding feeding kitchen scraps to my chickens. Though I will never feed leftover chicken to them. Great video. Thank you,!

I don't believe that is correct. The equivalent EU laws were relaxed somewhat in 2021, but they still exist.

Hi thanks for the tour of your yard. I’m in e anglia uk. Do I need to keel a cover over my chickens?

I have seen chickens on the farm eating mice and other small rodents, as well as frogs and lizards.

There are laws here in the US based on counties and cities ordinance, however they all violate the Constitution of the United States so I personally ignore them. They were not brought about by neighbors complaining about noise, they were brought about by lobbyists to tether the populace to the chain grocery stores. I've taken back my agency and produce meat and eggs on property, and soon it will be a closed loop food system using cover crops and BSF larva farming, which are native here in Florida. As for scare tactics and likely a near future attempts at banning them outright, we are seeing this ramped way up recently with no proof culling of 'sick; birds by the millions, hatcheries and laying houses catching fire, and the altering of feed sold my many of the big agriculture stores that cased birds to stop laying eggs. One of the largest egg producers in the US is unaffected by any of this and just opened up a new facility; one of the largest in the US. They also happen to own the feed producers that caused egg laying to stop. Anecdotally, this feed was also killing some chickens because the claimed protean was either missing or not fit/safe for consumption.

I raise my chickens up on mashed potato, as well as other cooked vegetables and peelings, no meat no gravy.

The kitchen scrap thing is ridiculous. We don't have that law here and it's been going on for 100s of years with no issues. I feed my birds meat all the time since I'm carnivore. Chickens are omnivores and they love meat even more than cow pea and daikon radish greens; which they go nuts for as well.

The wording of the document is a bit open ended. By "hen" that could be chicken, Guinea hen, peafowl hen etc.
