Are the Raiders running it back with Aidan O'Connell?

Спорт

Las Vegas Raiders GM Tom Telesco sounds like a right tackle might be coming at No. 13 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft and head coach Antonio Pierce said the starting quarterback position goes through Aidan O'Connell. Do the Raiders plan to run it back with O'Connell.

This is a fact! He is the most disrespected QB in this league. IF he was a 2024 NFL draft prospect with a preview of what he did in the last 9 NFL games. He will be a top 3 for sure. AOC has high value as an NFL QB. The Commanders would've been tempted to take him + the Raiders' 2024 13th pick for their 2024 1st rounder. (Assuming other 2nd and 3rd rounders thrown in)

Folks, now let Getsy incorporate bootlegs and rollouts in the offense. Therefore defenses cannot pin their ears back. Aidan can make every pass on the field. I like this kid. Now that JM is gone he can go back to being the QB he was in college. He scrambled, extended plays and moved around in the pocket too. We don’t need a Jackson or Mahomes clone. He’s a duel threat and I think he knows that’s what he has to do to keep his job. It’s been said he directly went to work on improving his mobility. The kids got an arm and he’s extremely accurate. It didn’t show much when he got thrown in the fire by JM. Rookie with no confidence is detrimental to the kids head. AP restoring all that.

Bruh, I have said this since preseason last year. I really like this kid. The Raider is soo in fear of Mahomes that they compare every QB to him. Not understanding that you don't need another Mahomes to beat him YOU NEED a DEFENSE capable of beating him. And a QB who can beat their defense. I watch AOC do something I didn't think he was capable of as a rookie and that is win games. Fans criticize him because he's not mobile like Mahomes when HE DOESN'T need to be. All he needs is to do what it takes to WIN GAMES. They talk about him like he moves as if his shoelaces are tied together. What I love about him is he plays the game from the pocket and his movement is to get the ball to his play makers and THAT is how you win games. and he is very well schooled in a pro passing game. Those kids in this draft are not their tendency to run first and make plays with their feet or the WOW play. All we need is someone who runs the offense and manage the game and make the throws that are there. Aiden demonstrated he can do that at a high level. So whats the problem? Yes we need to fill the QB and like everyone else I want the best players we can get at every position. But I'm not going to treat Aiden like he's some after thought because he has proven he can get it done...period

Only two rookie qbs played 10 games or more last season. Aidan and Stroud. With so much disastrous play in the last 3 seasons from young qbs, why would Telesco draft a qb in the first round??? Cannot risk the future when the qbs are not succeeding at a high rate. Aidan should start. Draft a qb in late rounds for competition.

I remember the announcer saying O'Connell was like 19-20 in the red zone on the season and 17 of those were TD's. Next think you know they promptly kicked a field goal, Bennet picked O'Connell, and Purdon't won the game. What stood out to me was they scored on 95% of his trips to the red zone. If O'Connell can even come close to that in the pro's... man.

He was audibling, calling out protections, reading defenses and going through his 1st, 2nd and 3rd reads(things that some 1st rd qbs can't even do). To everyone who underestimates him thats what people did in college and what you're doing now. All he does is keep his head down and keeps grinding. AP loves him. He helped AP get the job. I was a believer after watching his college tape after the draft and before he played an NFL down. Big arm, can get into really good rhythms, really good accuracy, good reads, and somewhat mobile and SMART. He can be coached out of any bad habits and wait till he gets even more up to speed with the NFL game. Imagine if because of his name that you dont give him a shot. I can easily see him going to another team and blowing up. DEF a better option than any of the rookies IMO.

He has underrated arm talent and movement skills, and most importantly he processes quickly. In year 2, he’ll be better in every area because you know this guy is working his ass off. I think he’ll win the starting job over the Raiders options in the draft and over Minshew. With good pass protection, good running game, improved play calling, and a top 10 defense, we can win a lot of games with AOC as QB1.

I don't believe any of us are saying O'Connell IS the be all end all and the reason we shouldn't even look at a QB if one falls to us, BUT we shouldn't be trying to trade the farm either, nor should we reach and pick a QB at 13th IF he's not the best player on our boards. If there is a chance to trade down and get and get some additional picks because we think we can grab Penix late in the 1st or early 2nd, then that might work but trading picks to move up????.....I would be real nervous about that one. O'Connell might actually be a good NFL player guys but he needs to get a real opportunity for us to see. We need to stop looking for the next Maholmes in the draft because we may never find one.

You are right should have been #1 all along, and Hoyer #2 was an even more egregious crime against the nation. Love Tre Tucker rising star. Few people agree with my player comp but I see Kurt Warner, Aiden is like an inch taller, but his fav throws are deep just like KW. Thank you again I always rush to click start on your videos.

AOC hes Qb 1 just like AP believes in him so do I. He has what it takes to be great ( mc Daniels did do something right by drafting him) his accuracy is on point, arm strength, finds the open receiver doesn't turn the ball over plus our running game will take pressure off of him ol should always run block even on passing down imaginehow tried a defense would be

I've been saying this for months now. Build that roster around AOC, he's a legitimate winning QB. He finished his 9 games statistically only to CJ STROUD. Had AOC entered the 2022 draft just Jr. year, he'd have been a 1st round draft selection.

I have faith in AOC4, so many doubt him but give him a solid off season and training camp he can do so much more then he did last year. I hate to see other Raiders news outlet say he is not the guy and AP should be fired if he starts. AP has faith in him, and yes he had some rough games. All part of learning, he was able to be the last QB that beat KC.

I wish for the best for Aiden O’Connell. I hope he’s the next Tom Brady. But as of right now he is Josh McDaniel‘s fourth round pick. So expectations may be a little high. At some point we need to go all in on a franchise quarterback. Will he develop? Maybe.

Aidan O'Connel is a starter, he has great talent and brains. He will be difficult to beat out for the 1st string. He is developing quickly, showing toughness and an ability to forget mistakes, learn from them and progress. I expect this next season he will have a few 300 yard games, and prove to be a winner. I am certain that he will maintain a starting role. As long as he stays healthy. He has an excellent attitude and has the respect of his teammates and coaches. And he is humble. All traits of a future star, hall of fame type traits. That is a little premature but it is the feeling I get about him. 5 or 10 years from now, will tell. A ring or 2 might help. AOC could be the answer for years. Let him play and prove it himself.
