WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?
The Atheist Experience is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

I’m going to have to cover this on my channel. For the record, Jerusalem objectively did not fall in 607. It was 587, 20 years later. We can prove that with impeccable records from Babylonians. That throws off the date.

Having been raised as a JW, I am VERY familiar with this foundational doctrine. It is central to their entire belief system. Their predictions are based on the date 607 BCE, when they say that the city of Jerusalem was sacked by the Babylonians. Using the book of Daniel, they then calculate that 2520 years from that date is when Christ will return, throw Satan out of heaven, and unleash the beginning of the end. According to their chronology, that happened in 1914. To validate this calculation, they point to the outbreak of World War I as "proof." They love to say how "unexpected" and "suddenly" that war broke out, totally ignoring the geopolitical events that led up to it. UNFORTUNATELY for them, they got the date wrong. Babylon conquered Jerusalem, not in 607 BCE, but 20 years later in 587 BCE. That would put their calculated date at 1934, when absolutely nothing remarkable happened. That religion, like all religions, is a load of crap. Its followers are not encouraged to think critically. I'm so glad I got out when I did.

Mankind includes ALL OF US, from the first human pair, unto the last man, and for those who pass the faith test, into the afterlife. We are ONE Creation. Potentially, everlasting. Speaking as a former witness who actually did my research and woke up, it's embarrassing to me to listen to this "sister" stumble over her own words trying to promote her faith, regurgitating watchtower doctrine (poorly) knowing she probably thinks she defended her faith and did a good job of witnessing to the masses. She probably even counted her time doing so...! You can't be a watchtower apologist when you don't know your religions own history and can't even get your facts straight. You need to know the watchtowers understanding of the prophecy she was trying to quote inside and out. She had at best a basic understanding of it shouting out 1914, 607bce and revelation. She just sounded deluded and brainwashed. If I was still a JW I'd have thought she just gave a bad witness and probably deterred more people then converted in this clip. And this is the sad thing about your average witness. They knock on your door armed with a few basic truths that the general public don't know from the bible and begin to think of themselves as bible scholars until they come up against people like this who actually know their stuff. Embarrassing smh.

yup,one way i got out is through YT, trying to "defend" this dirty cult by wanting to view weak spots on others beleiefs...BASHING AND SHAMING was and is the objective of JWs. thats the truth, they want to debunk other religions and as soon as someone smarter and knowledgeable comes infront, they retreat and bring super intendents, elders etc to talk with these people. and then when they themselves cant handle this person, their quick and cowardly answer is to stop and leave the convo cause satan is in his brain. how embarrassing did i felt when this would happen. i felt like a loser when i couldn't respond to their logical and critical thinking questions, couldn't handle the opponent "win" the conversation.and so I'd end it. hated that feeling of feeling mighty and a bully wanting to show one way or another that the "worldly" person was wrong. im so relieved that i dont think or feel like an arrogant person and feel at peace not feeling constantly alerted by what i eat, watch, drink etc.

Correct me if I am wrong please but a search of "ptolemy's Canon of kings" shows that there are some possible inaccuracies with the dating. This "canon of kings" method of dating is widely accepted as the backbone of our secular way of dating. In short the bible takes into account minor kings that reigned for a short period while the "canon" with holds them. This can cause a slight inaccuracy in dating.

Logic: "What about religions that aren't based on a bible?" Religion: "Well, those ones aren't true because Satan, basically." Former JW here, born in, devout and active--until by 36, it nearly killed me in every way--severely depressed, anxiety-ridden and suicidal. It has taken me over a decade, but I am out, free, awake and healing from the PTSD I was left with from being raised in a Doomsday Cult. I would have died for my beliefs--scary, but true--and that is the very real danger of fundamentalist religion. Everything is better now that I am out of religion, and have left the belief in the Bible and its god--any god. And by the way, yes the founder of the JWs said the world was ending in 1914. P.S. L Ron Hubbard said the surest way to get rich is to invent your own religion. He was a multi-millionaire therefore scientology is true.

The part that baffles me about people that get into Scientology.... why would you join a "religion" that was revealed to a dude that is famous for writing more fictional books than anyone else - and most of those books were horrible sci-fi. I mean, I like some Sci-Fi authors.... but I wouldn't join a church they started. May the force be with you.

@Jeffery Bird You are clearly an idiot. But I am not going to hold that against all males. Because unlike you, I am not a sexist. P.S. The bible also says that it's ok to have sex with your own relatives. Maybe your parents thought that the Bible had it right, about that, as well.

@@cheshirekat3050 Why would you call him an idiot? For men it is true that women are better be seen than talking. I bet there's not a single female in the world who doesn't think her thoughts, character or hobbies are somehow interesting to men but it's a bull shit. Dominant majority of women are not smart, their thoughts are primitive and it's just not interesting to listen to them. Whether bible says it or some other source, I don't care. It's true.

@Jim Morrison, I was married for 49 years and believe it or not, men's talk isn't all that interesting either. We just pretend like it's interesting because we don't want to make you feel bad.
