This is not facts bro sorry to tell you, grove st families are tree top piru, fruit town piru,west side piru. The Seville blvd families are Crenshaw mafia bloods. The temple drive families are liggett st bloods etc. And for the ballas the rollin heights set are based on the rolling card rolling 20,30,40,50,60, and 90s mainly rolling 60 in the game because there the biggest gang in the gang and real life since the 70s.Front yard ballas are based on the front hood Compton crips, underground crips, Raymond ave crips, grapes st, pj wats crip etc, but mainly front hood Compton crip in game. The kilo tray crips are obviously 8trey gangsta crip, Mona park crips, Compton crips, insane crips, carver, playboy, schoolyard and Mansfield gangsta crip all Under gagnster card. The temple drive ballas are the shoreline crips, original valley crips etc. varrio los Aztecas are the es wilmas, WS willmas and the NS willmas. The vagos are the avenues gang, east la flats, white fence, highland park , es lingos etc there the oldest gang in the game and in real life

Chronologically, the Families established before the Ballas, as the Crips were historically established before the Bloods. It is likely that both GTA gangs given traits of either gangs as to not have them be definitely identified with one or the other.

The concept of the Ballas taking over Grove Street in gta 5 was a shocking because in san andreas I always find it so iconic because it always had Grove Street members but there's been many theories that after the last couple of sweets missions where you take over every territory I have a feeling many Grove members quit and decided to form the Ballas in many factions in gta 5 hence owning many territories from the Grove Street families and taking over Grove Street in the end and this left the Grove Street families to have many factions that would end up being hostile towards the gang itself

Well, it's two different Los Santos's. So they can make changes in the new one at will. For better or worse.

gta sa did a good job at encapsulating the 90s west coast gangster rap era. the game pays a lot of homage to the movies from back then like colors, boys in the hood, south central and menace to society.

rockstar used real gang members to make character models and for their dialogue, plus they had dj Pooh to inform them how gangs were in LA. So they got inspiration from both sides and mixed them a bit to make fictional gangs but of course to resemble bloods, crips, and Hispanic gangs

yea but for simplicity...Ballas ate crips. Bloods prided themselves in being for the neighborhood and brotherhood. so that's grove street. Ballas were strong already, and taking over violently..that's crips. they started first but went wild and stsrted to be more violent first. that's actually what made bloods stronger. necessity. but over and all, yes they're both a mixed bag in the game

A lot of Rockstars ideas come from mixing everything from cars to neighborhoods and all. It’s kinda like military movies they mess up the uniforms intentionally so they don’t get sued. Rockstar probably did mix the gangs and I feel like you’re the most accurate.

If we go off which gang is Older, the Families are said to of been one of the Oldest gangs, while the Ballas were formed sometime in the 1970's (Possibly 1972 the same year as the Bloods). So it may be implied that the Families are the older gang possibly forming sometime in the 1960's (possibly 1969 same year as the Crips). So if we go off of the time of Formation the Families may be Crips while the Ballas are Bloods. Its all a parody of gangland culture anyways so they all take from some of the biggest gangs.

To me, families was always crips, number 1. They call themselves loc, only crips call each other loc, and 2. Families like cuz, crips also call each other cuz(a family name) and OG’s call their YG’s nephew

i always view Ballas gang as gta's version of bloods and groove street gang as crips. i guess i got this opinion after snoop Dogg's cancelled fear and respect game that shared similar story when the player is thrown in a middle of chaos and a situation of gang warfare, respect and etc like in San Anderes. and since rapper the game is a blood in real life who voiced b-dup i think this is another reason why I view or always thought ballas was gta's version of blood gang.

I feel they both have similarities. Due to the player in real life maybe blood or crip. Last thing you want to do is upset some group of players from making their set look like the enemies.

I believe they're based on both gangs but mostly based on The Bloods/Pirus. Another great video Bro.

@@YoungYahtz94 True but still that's what Rockstar said that the gangs are based on GSF- Crips/Hoovers with some Pirus and Ballas- Pirus with some Crips.

They're kind of a mixture, they don't beef eachother like crips used to in the 90's but they do have deuces (trays, front yard, temple, rolling) like crips. This is important because deuces are not exactly friendly to eachother, its sort of an alliance inside of the crips affiliation. Also, it is always said that, the families were once powerfull but ended up fighting eachother, kind of like crips after some time the crip alliance was created. Although the same time the families are quite more alike in some other aspects to the bloods. Their names for example, they don't have deuces like crips, Seville, Temple, Grove are all Families, and that resembles a lot to the begining of the bloods. Also, the main street where the Grove set is, can resemble also to the original Piru gang, where different gangs met up to set up an alliance against the crips, forming the bloods.

Yeah we saw GSF kill Seville Families in GTASA and then also in GTAV Lamar uses Crip vocabulary like, "What's craccin?" and "Can a Loc come up in yo' crib?" I get Rockstar would want to blur the lines between the two, but if anything Families = Crips, and Ballas = Bloods moreso than the other way around. But if you look at the structure and relations of gangs in the GTA-Online and/or FiveM multiplayer communities, they have it where the GTA lore gangs exist alongside IRL gangs and each is their own organization, plus they throw in fictional Los Santos Crip and Blood sets like "Rancho Gangsta Crips" with the IRL sets. Another one they had was "Murrieta Mafia Crips" allied with the East Los Marabunta and had a territory of literally just a street corner where the East Los buyable house is in GTA Online. So basically, Families, Ballas, Crips, Bloods, Vagos, Latin Kings, etc, etc. all exist and are different and separate from one another in the multiplayer community. And it's just as confusing if not more confusing than IRL relations between gangs AND different sets, because they're also throwing GTA gangs and sets into the mix on top of IRL sets and making up fictional Los Santos sets of IRL gangs. So in Online and/or FiveM stuff you got Crip set A, allied with Families set B, but Crip set C and D, on hostile terms with Crip set A and Families B and D. TLDR: Families are more Crip-like than vice versa, and the GTA multiplayer community gangs are 5x more confusing than trying to understand all that I just typed.

You have some good points but here are mine. I think the ballaz are crips and the families are piru because 1. The term BLOOD amongst African-American people literally meant FAMILY. Hence GROVE Street(GANTON) families= PIRU(street in COMPTON)bloods 2. In l.a. the only African-american gang with turf at the beach are the crips(Venice shoreline crips), in San Andreas the only gang with turf near the beach is the ballaz. 3. Only BLOODS gang has turf in the Baldwin hills area of l.a. in the GTAV the chamberlain FAMILIES have turf in the Chamberlain Hills area. CHAMBERLAIN HILLS = BALDWIN HILLS. 4. Lastly, the crips have historically held more turf in l.a. than the bloods. Likewise in Los Santos the ballaz held more territory by default.

they were inspired by gang culture as a whole, just like Aztecas, Vagos and Rifas are just an interpretation of Sureños and a small bit of Norteños CJ in The Wrong Side of The Tracks mentions "I thought northern Mexicans didn't fuck with Los Santos eses" All of the 3 Mexican gangs use "ese" in their vocabulary, even the northern ones (Rifas) Norteños irl use "ene" but not too many people know about it like they know the word "ese", basically showing how both black and hispanic gangs are just a stereotypical interpretation of the biggest gangs in California, them being Crips, Bloods and Sureños. Trying to fit any irl gang into just one SA gang is basically impossible

@@LScentral it did exist. not in 92 like when the game takes place but the 9 treys we’re founded in 93. But you’re right about it only being an East coast set. I’m from the Vegas but grew up in the Midwest so I know a hell of a lot more about the Folk and People nation and stuff like that. There’s crips and bloods all over the Midwest but it’s not the majority here. And the whole politics are different out here as well.

I'd would have to say that the Ballas in SA are based on Rollin 60s Crip mainly, and the Grove Street Families are actually a whole DIFFERENT gang. The first popular HYBRID gang: Gerson Park Kingsmen or GPK as commonly referred. Whilst the cities are different, GPK and The Rollin 60s Crips beefed in Las Vegas in the late 90s, and this war was the most brutal between really ANY gang warfare. Hence why Rockstar may've picked up this topic because it was fresher in their minds as a recent gang war turned recently violent more than the "common" Blood VS Crip at the time. To point that the Grove is based on Gerson Park Kingsmen, we can associate the usage of the acronym similar (GPK = GSF) Even though GSF wore Orange originally maybe as reference to the Hoovers, the change to GREEN reflects actually Gerson Park's change from originally the Gerson Park Crips, to Gerson Park Kingsmen (Orange -> Green. = Blue -> Green) In Vegas, GPK was the biggest gang before the war with the Rollin 60s came, which is similar to how Grove was the top of Los Santos before the Ballas came. GPK's influence birthed other "Hybrid" gangs to spark up. Such as the Woods, and HTO. These can be reflected by Temple and Seville Families as they are to believed to be Ballas before falling to the influence of the Grove. Going into GTAV. The comparisons to GPK are still there, as Nowadays after the fierce 90s, GPK itself became inactive, but birthed smaller sets of it's original power even to formerly enemy neighborhoods. This would make sense how CHF and FDF are under the GSF flag, but GSF itself is inactive. For the point above also, GPK STILL do not bode with the LV section of the Rollin 60s Neighborhood Crips. Even years later. Highlighted with the beef between GSF and Ballas still to this day.

It's simple, and a mixture of both. Although it is kind of out dated. By then (1992 when the game is set) the Crips mostly wore with the crips (so it'd be more accurate if different sets of the Ballas or Grove street fought each other). It takes the blood and crip gang war element. It also takes the Rollin' 60's stereotype of them getting money and being known as a gang that gets money versus other crip sets at the time that were slow to do so.

Technically the families are beefing with eachother for the first part of the game until the start of gang wars/motel meeting, so thats kind of a crip background. As for the ballas, although they are represented in deuces like the crips, have a blood background with a complete alliance and no beefing, like when the bloods were formed.

@@bordcruz1 Ballas was more crip..off of first look...cause yes, it was unity...in REAL time in the 90s the bloods and crips had a certain thing going on...BUT crestors of games did NOT have that history. they had old history and TV news media. Old history..crips was first. but they got out of hand with their numbers and more violent as well. bloods became more prominent to protect themselves against the same odds AS WELL AS THE CRIPS. brotherhood was their thing. like family. And we play as part of Grove street family. crips was running things and even some bloods turned on each other to be part of what was going on with them. the style they had. so we come in where the family is fractured and we trying to put respect back into thst brotherhood.

They put the Mexican hoods in black areas and vice versa like the vagos are in bounty hunter bloods area

I used to argue with my friends back in HS, I always thought Grove Street was Crips. It makes sense. Ballas even tho they throw a C, are Bloods.

In Menace II Society when they go to take revenge for Harold one of the guys they pop looks just like Kane

@@LScentral one more thing I noticed is Ballas wac out the O is because of OGF, Orange Grove Families. Also if you noticed all the permanently Grove Street tags are located in Williowfield, Idlewood & Aztecas hood... But the only thing get me is they only disses RHB with RHBK "Rollin Heights Ballas Killa" which can mean RHB might be the original Ballas set. I say that to say this everything was Grove Street except of Jefferson which is Watts.

They're based on both. Neither are actually one or the other. The names however for the ballas sets names seem based off Crip sets. Kilo Tray(83), Rollin Heights(60s) Front yard(School Yard) Temple Drive (Atlantic).
