He's right in saying that the weakest part of their lock's security is the lock codes. It's easy for users to share codes that then can get re-shared and possibly re-shared. It's harder to share or re-share an old-fashioned physical key. 😁

Hacking is not the weak link. The lock is. The standard Schlage lock core is not to terribly hard to pick with the correct knowledge and tools.

It seems that the Holmes name continues to sell out for advertising dollars. It was once wall and floor membrane systems, BSAF closed cell foam, Panasonic vent systems, on and on, and now door locks….it never ends. Now it’s about growing the family nest egg. Bob Vila was booted from TOH because of his deal with Sears for fear it would undermine the shows credibility at the time. The human Holmes series element scored big with Canadian and British audiences but didn’t do nearly enough to attract the more important American market. Where the real money is. Simple reason is not understanding the cultural differences between the two countries, never mind between each State other than the New Orleans episodes. The competition did know that market. How the Bennett exit was handled also left many wondering how badly screwed over he was from the obvious goal of protecting the father/son business dream. When some key contractors left the series some audience were wondering what was behind that also.
