I thought i was having a heart attack but it was shingles, doctor told me i had torn a shoulder muscle. Pain was off the scale. Lasted 12 weeks and left me with chronic fatigue symptoms. I was put on antivirals and amytriptilene. Pain was like stabbing electric shocks. Nightime was worst no sleep.

.. so true. The pain is super intense, unrelenting, continuous .. stinging, burning .. especially during the nights; the more your body, your muscles, tried to rest, to relax, to get some sleep the more it hurts .. I wanted to scream, to smash my body against the wall

Dr is giving a very accurate description of the kind of pain I have had since onset. The shingles pain only gets worse the last 3 years. I feel like I’m going crazy.

Do not tell people it only happen on one side of the body , my mother had it right around her body , she was seen by 3 doctors was sick for 2 month but recover well and never had recurrences . Doc said they never seen this before . I had one side of the body 4 years ago and every 6 month little recurrences , but had very little help from doctors and certainly no sympathie. I had to found my own cure.

I know this went on a bit but this Doctor explained so much as what and how shingles is in simple terms having had it for 11 days i can vouch how much the pain can be, hoping will improve soon.

I had shingles 8 years ago..and it has not left me....every few weeks I would get 2 or 3 spots...painful as hell, what I have found is putting an ice pack on it which releases the pain for a while... My doctor is so puzzle as he said he's never known anyone that keeps on having it continuously.

I've had shingles and have gotten the shots. I am still suffering with nerve pain and its getting worse. I take 600mg of gabipentin 3x a day and it used to help keep it tolerable but its not doing the job anymore. Don't know where I go from here. Great explanation!

I have had it AGAIN for the past several days. I feel like I have the flu and so much pain wrapped around the left flank to my mid abdomen. Sick of it. I was in the sun at the beach and burned pretty badly. Then the bump appeared. I’ve learned the sensations and don’t itch the areas. Usually I sneeze a few times and get that ill feeling, then the rash. I’ve had then non stop at least once to twice a year for 20 yrs. First time was in my 20s.

Me also and I always like finding the exact scientific reason for a condition... I'm in so much pain ... I'm 35 and had many surgeries... Even woke up during a couple. And this is a totally different pain ... Hurts bad like someone took a hot knife and stabbed it between my ribs and twisted ...

Last night I was suffering I think it was been six days of shingles so painful. I every second was pain. I didn’t know how I was going to get past the next second let along a minute I hadn’t slept for days it seems but I thought how am I going to get through this, how did Jesus get through being on the cross suffering for us for three days and I can’t even do a second so through my teaching in life, I heard testimonies of taking communion at home by myself. mine started in my rib area.i just thought that i had over done it at work with lifting.3 days later i got a patch of spots on my ribs.went to the doctors and was told i had shingles.was given tablets to take 5 times a day for a week.spots have gone but still get pain.

Five weeks now of unbearable pain from it that won't go away, for me it was a blistering rash & now the surface of the skin is numb, my entire left side , back & ribs, on top of the Chronic pain from MS

I believe the zoster attacked my organs, the pain WAS extreme, internal + the rash. Taking Valcyclovir caused thrush and at this point, my immunity is definitely impaired. I don't know what to do at this point, the dr. acted like my condition is boring, and has washed his hands of it... I'm also hypersensitive to meds. Thank you, I found this extremely informative particularly as I have only had brief telephone conversations with my GP due to covid restrictions. I would have liked to know more about how long you need to remain on the medication and how to come off it as I understand you need to gradually reduce levels of drugs like amitripyline and Gabapentin or you could face withdrawal reactions.

I had a shingles outbreak on my right thigh10 days ago and I am on the same medication and same dosage as you. I noticed 50% of the burning sensation was gone within 24 hours of taking the medications, but now I am on the 4th day with not much improvement. Also, did you experience extreme fatigue in your legs. Have you fully recovered now and how long did it take.

Great talk! I am dealing with very painful shingles right now. My doc 1 week ago prescribed acyclovir and 900 MG of gabapentin daily. It barely helped. As of yesterday she changed it to 1800 MG of gabapentin daily and Valacyclovir, and finally gave me a short supply of pain meds. I am 73 and never got the vaccine because my former doctor said not to, as being a live vaccine it was contraindicated by the RA injections I was getting. Nobody told me there was a NEW vaccine. SHINGREX, which is not live virus based. So now I am miserable and missing out last week, this week and probably next week on some fun activities. I am normally very fit, active, and healthy. I was hospitalized in March with covid and pneumonia, which I suspect weakened my immune system. What's next??

Hi James I got it on the left side of my face almost 6 years ago also in my left eye I thought I had prickly heat at first and and pink eye infection only to find out that I had a serious case of shingles. Fortunately I found a wonderful ophthalmologist that weekend when I was looking for a doctor so it did save my eye Took a long time for the shingles to go much more than the normal time and it never totally went completely every now and then it would just keep coming back and every time I get stressed and even now I suddenly look like I have measles and now it’s on the other side of my face mirror imaging actually . Very very itchy feeling like hair stuck to my face on cream that I can’t get off the pain and headache real pain was only when I initially got the shingles as far as headache and stuff goes as well. I keep taking the valacyclovir medication it really doesn’t seem to help I realized you just have to make your immune system strong and all it does is suppress the virus a little bit perhaps. I look after my mother who is 101 all by myself so it’s very very stressful and I get not enough sleep. I’m very very tired all the time. I was reading on KZread from another doctor that to try to build your immune system with 3000 mg of L-lysine taken and three pills three times a day, keep up your B vitamins and your zinc and your vitamin C and your vitamin D three. Try to drink some thing like Kiefer that is filled with probiotics that are live. I realize that rest and getting rid of the stress is the only thing that will really fix the immune system. May God help you and heal you. I found that putting raw manuka honey on the spots really helped the itch for awhile and seemed to help.

Have you tried L-Lysine, lots of Vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc, K2, melatonin? Also try to get rest and much sleep and avoid stress. Strenghten your immune system.

Why do many case after covid vaccine or cases

I had shingles too,,just early this year….and it still has residual pain. Months and months ago. I was lucky in that I started having the pain on a Sunday night. It was rapidly moving.,got worse and within hours, I was near the screaming level. My bad luck, it was one of those Large patches that extended from 5or 6 back bones and downward to the hip top area. Then it moved to around the front of the hip and the large colon area inside was in pain too. It was at least 7 inches wide . Less wide in front but just as painful. It dropped down to the front of the hip bones and ..one spot..in berween. Thise, thank God, were lesser lesions. Id seen a small patch on hubby maybe 20 years before so I didn’t eed tomguess what it was. It was late at night but I had no intention of going to ER…a silky idea.. ut..I had appointment with my doctor the next day at 10:45 and wanted to wait..we’ll..didn’t really want to wait any longer, as said..I was near the screaming pain by then. When I got to doctors,,I was only patient in the waiting room,,thank heavens for that too. Was escorted to exam room and told nurse ..I think I have shingkes…and she said let’s have a look. And she she said..OH MY..and went to fetch the doctor right away. And here comes the important oart fora home breaking out after reading this…when Dr. Came in exam room.,she too said,,well let’s see it. And she also said..it sure is..shingkes.,how does it feel..? Told her, then she says ..we have a therapy we can do if you’re up to it and it’s..Almost like a miracle. It stops the pain immediately. And of course I said let’s hear it. And she said..it’s an electric stimulation kind of therapy. It takes an hour and you do it here. Strip down into exam gown,,we pad and cover exam table, you lay on your side opposite of the breakout and we apply warm very wet towels woth slecial,electric wires in them..sort of like electric heating blanket only these are special made for wet therapy. She called in her whole staff..all ladies ..and they got me settled on the exam couch and doc for wet the towels while Thy arrange the electric hook up plugs. Covered my lesions with those wonderful warm wet towel and plugged up all the leads. Covered me up with as many blankets as I wanted andngave me a call button. Said they’d check on me every 15 minutes. And hoped I’d get quick comfort and I did. I even dozed of and on. Her assistants said they’d seen shingles before and one said but never that big. I’ve since seen that size latch online for the video demos. Well,,hiur was up and they got busy drying me off with some vigor and Dr. came back in..she was excited because she’d seen the miracles before,,asked me about the pain that unsaid had been at the screaming level..and most All that pain was gone. The most part of it. She said well it’s not unusual that we do another hour tomorrow. So,went back tomorrow and all pain vanished ..and besides that..the blisters that had come up as soon as the area was red,mead already begun bursting and scabbing over. Here’s the skinny onnthe therapy. It must be done as soon as possible when breakout starts…or not guaranteed to be effective. However the 7 affected bones in the shingles..,after the electric stimulation therapy, immediately reduced back to normal size and Never. Pained again. , Shingles has an unbelievable ..other kind of pains…. all my spinal bone were enlarged…obviously …Shingles came from inflamed cns..central nervous system… There was more standard pills and supplements after those sessions…but the contagious state passed very quickly.
