I prefer the 1976 Barbra Streisand/Kris Kristofferson version. The music seems to be more female empowerment than the other 2 remakes. I haven't seen the 1937 version.

@@antoniomarin9061 that is false, technically and realistically it's not a remake. Like LoneWolf said, it even has references to the original. Alan Parrish is Robin Williams' character in the original, and his name is referenced in the 2019 Jumanji. Nora in the 2019 movie is also the same Nora from the original. She was the aunt of the kids. The end of the 2019 movie also goes back to the original Jumanji rules when the ostriches come out of the game and into the street, instead of the characters going into the game. So yes, it's 100% a sequel and not a remake.

To be fair jumanji was a sequel. Hense the fact that they found the house of Allan Parrish, and the game started as a game board even in the sequel but when the kid would only play videogames it turned itself into one as a thirst trap

Judy Garland's version of A Star is Born is also a remake. The original came out in 1937. And it starred Janet Gaynor. So they just chose between two remakes.

They chose Judy’s version because the two remakes (Streisand and Gaga) were based off her version. Judy’s version was rewritten specifically for her and is very different from the original 1937 film. The two remakes after were blatant copies of Judy’s version.

JUMANJI should NOT be on this list as it was a continuation of the first one even having the pieces from the board game and the treehouse that the first boy built. They reference him by name a few times in the 2nd one. They even clarify that the magic of the game evolves the game as time goes by to lure in modern players.

even the parent trap from 1961 is a remake of the german movie "das doppelte Lotchen" from 1950.Based on a story by Erich Kästner. the only differnce, in the german version they take actual twins.

For those who did not know, "A Star is Born" first came out in 1937. The 1954 version was a remake with Judy Garland. Then, in 1974, they released another remake, this time with Barbra Streisand. The final remake was in 2018 with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. So, the 1954 version is not an original movie. It is a remake.

A Star is Born was originally released in the 30's, not the 50's, despite how good Judy was in it (robbed of an Oscar). Also, Barbra Streisand was in the 70's version of the movie (yes, they made this movie 4 times).

jumanji 2017 was a direct sequel of the 95 jumanji and mean girls isn't a direct remake of the sequel but rather an adaptation of the broadway music version of the 04 story (made by tina fey) so that's why a lot of things are different

Great video folks with one small nitpick... Jumaji (2017) is not a remake, it's a stand-alone sequel in the Jumanji series. We see at the beginning Alex's father finding the Jumanji boardgame and giving it to him, when he's not interested in a boardgame it transforms itself into a video game to entice him into playing.

Original Parent Trap is BEST overall!! Can't go wrong with Haley Mills who was a Disney classic actor for so MANY Disney movies...pahleeze! Her father was even in a Disney movie...The Swiss Family Robinson. Go back and watch the classics. OH, and big props to the beautiful ginger Maureen O'Hara and handsome Brian Keith. I didn't really enjoy the movie, but I do really like The Quiet Man, though. Miracle on 34th Street... that could be another original and remake one the reactors could react to as well! For me, I've seen the remake, but I have not seen the original (but I want to!).

My second favorite Duke movie, after McClintock! is The Cowboys. Spoiler alert if you watch it...two scenes made me cry HARD. I'm old, so I'm very partial to the OG movies. But, I did enjoy the remake of Miracle on 34th Street. My thing about most remakes is...why mess with a good thing, most end up trash.

@@islandgreenstrong He was a good actor. I do agree with that. I just don't care for his westerns. I liked him in The Quiet Man and in The Longest Day, as well as his guest appearance on I Love Lucy. The thing with remakes is they're made for two reasons: 1) To update it for newer audiences, a.k.a. younger generations. 2) To get the younger generations potentially interested in seeing the original. So it's kind of a 50/50 thing. If the remake is a win for the younger generation that's a good thing, and if it gets them interested in seeing the original, that's even better. At least, speaking as a movie buff and having an opinion of his own, that's how I see it.

Choosing the 1984 Dune because it "inspired Star Wars" is insane. All 3 of the original Star Wars movies came out before it. Yes, the novel inspired the movies, but not the movie.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure Jumanji is a sequel not a remake. The first movie still happened, and the game "transformed" to become a video game in the beginning of the movie.

Junanji: Welcome to the Jungle is not a remake. You can't have reference to the original movie being apart of that world unless its a sequal or a movie in that universe. For example The Karate Kid remake with Jackie Chan is actually a Remake. The Karate Kid Miyagi-verse movies and Cobra Kia are cannon to each other but are movies and series in the Jackie Chan Reboot Version Universe because they are reference to in The Karate Kid 2010 is a movie. The stange thing is how the upcoming Karate Kid movie is going to have Daniel LaRusso and Mr. Han in it and would have to reckon the mentioning of the original movies out of the 2010 movie.

So happy that majority chose the Judy version of A Star Is Born. She gave one of the greatest performances ever captured on film, and the film itself is one of the best movie musicals of all time.

Willy Wonka has a special place for me because Pure Imagination is mine and my son's song. I've been singing to him since was only a few months old. And whenever I start to sing it he calms down if he's upset or has a really big smile on his face.

You should have teens react to old commercials featuring celebrities before they were famous and have them try and figure out who those celebrities are.

I just remembered something from the Jumanji movies. There's proof the newer ones are sequels, and not remakes. The third movie, Jumanji: The Next Level, toward the end of the movie, there's an appearance from Bebe Neuwirth as Aunt Nora. I now remember when I first watched it, I was blown away that Nora was back. I'm just waiting for a fourth movie with Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce to come back as Judy and Peter. At this point, that's what I'm now expecting if they were to make a fourth movie.

I want to say about 10 years now. And it also doesn't help that I decided to start a gaming channel almost 4 years ago.

Jumanjia 2017 technically isn't a remake, it's a belated sequel. There was a 2nd animated version of The Grinch you could've compared it to instead of the live action.

The Illumination version of The Grinch is far different. I think the title character's backstory in that one is why they decided to include the Jim Carrey version. As for Jumanji, some people are actually labeling WTTJ as a remake despite the Alan Parrish reference.

Farrah was only in the first season it was mainly Kate, Jacklyn and Cheryl Ladd.

There was a version of Star is Born in the '30s before the Garland version and another in the 70s with Streisand (between the Garland version and the Gaga version)

That is not the original A Star is Born. The first is from 1937. The 1954 film is the first remake!

I agree, he was such a phenomenal actor, and still missed.

The original Dune movie did NOT inspire Star Wars. However, the books DID inspire George Lucas. You can see that in the Sandworm skeleton in Star Wars: A New Hope on the planet of Tatooine.

Well technically the 2000s Charlie’s Angels wasn’t the original unless specifically talking movies. Since Charlie’s Angels was originally a TV show from 1976-1981 with Jaclyn Smith, Farrah Fawcett and Kate Jackson as the 3 Angels.
