    I discovered these piston pens a while ago but have not seen them reviewed. I purchased it on eBay Canada from China for just a few dollars. I have only used the clear one as a water brush. This pen gives the perfect amount of water consistently with no dripping. It is great for a thin paper that needs just a touch of water before buckling. This brush has an unbelievable pointed tip and performs like a watercolor paintbrush. It works perfectly for detailed watercolor painting.

    Wow! I almost bought them but it would be a shame to buy 3 for one. I do like the Pentel brush pens. And the leaking worry would be a bit much. Thank you for testing them and I hope your baby doesn’t repaint your home with one when in those 2 seconds that they can find so much to do. I worked nights and watched my 4 yr old(21 yrs ago) during the day. Well I didn’t realize that I shut my eyes too long and he found the outside deck stain and started remodeling my white kitchen and thought I would be so proud. Well I had to fake it because it was my fault. I never worked another pm 16 hr shift no matter what. But you have a sweetheart, I had a very very active stuntman. Best wishes Teoh and thank you for sharing what works.

    Ink flow for the largest one might be improved by filling it more completely. That way there would be less air inside. I suppose like piston fill fountain pens cleaning the brush and feed would be a matter of flushing it repeatedly with clear water and I'd guess it would be even more important not to allow the brushes to dry out with ink or paint on them. Looks great for calligraphic marks and filling in areas!

    I have found that they work pretty well, better than i expected for the price (ebay). Natural hair and holds a sharp point well. I use them for line art. Thanks for talking about them!

    Recently bought a similar small brush because of its really low price, nice to know that you can actually dismantle it! Thank you for pointing that out, mine was a bit stiff, so I didn’t figure it myself. Haven’t used it yet, but now I’ve gotta try.

    I have 3 of the WingSung 3009, which are similar to the brush with the clear finned feed. The ink flow control is good and the brush tip comes to a sharp point with excellent line variation. I would be interested in your opinion of that brush pen, by comparison. I think the price is similar. Thank you for your always comprehensive reviews.

    I bought two, including the transparent one. Both have a leaking problem. I like the idea but considering the poor execution I think you probably have to invest if you want quality.

    That’s exactly what I would be afraid of. I don’t want my art supplies to leak especially when I take them in my bag with me. I know for example kuretake brush pens are not the cheapest but their quality is honestly the best I’ve ever had in brush pens in use.

    Are you sure that the "ink flow" is not also depending on the different qualities of the ink rather than just the pen?

    @@teohyc Thank you very much for your reply and the clarification. 😀 So you do not think that the different color pigments of the different colors have much influence on the fluidity, because it's the same manufacturer?

  • @teohyc

    @teohyc

    @@ironwhy Different pigments will also affect fluidity because they attach to binder differently. But it's mostly the quality of the brush pen that will determine the ink flow.
