    It is waaaay different in the Colorado market. It's hard to find a halfway decent TJ or JK, for less than $10,000. You can find them for $7,000 to $10,000, but it's going to need some work!!

    To a typical Jeep buyer, who never actually drives off road and never remove the tops, the 4-banger import "cute utes" are a much better buy right now. Jeeps get horrible gas mileage compared to similarly sized 4-banger CUV's. Gas prices are coming down (finally under $4 here in the SW) and the used market is starting to correct. I think Wranglers will start selling again soon.

    I just did a check of the local Jeep market on the internet. If the price of a used Jeep is supposedly dropping I saw no evidence of that. The advertised prices are what they’ve been for some time now. I’m in West Tennessee and Jeeps are a common sight on the road. In my neighborhood there are 8 Jeep owners and they are all long time Jeep owners.

    Great vid! I have been looking at Jeeps for a while as a toy/extra car, but the prices are just too much for what they are especially compared to their prices from 3 years ago. I should’ve bought that clean 06 manual TJ with 100,000 miles and the 4.0l for 10k a few years ago but that was high at that time. I thought I would wait for a slightly used depreciated JL, lol good grief.

    Tough times for us all. I want/need a new truck.... I’m not gonna pay new price for a used truck.... Decided to wait for new 22 GMC’s because of updated interiors..... Well, couldn’t find what I wanted close to home plus dealers asking over sticker. So wait for 23’s. Prices are up, GM. Making mandatory $1,500 Onstar on new GMC’s which drives price even higher Guess I’ll wait a while and see what happens. Meantime I will spend a few bucks on my old truck to keep it on the road.

    Everyone wants 2012 and up JKs or older TJs with the 4.0. Nobody wants the 3.8 early JKs. Definitely lots of cheap early JKs available. Yes they are slow, yes they aren’t as cool as a TJ, yes they get horrible mileage. But they are cheaper and are newer than a TJ (less rust) and an overall stronger platform. 2012 Wrangler sports still are worth more than original MSRP ten years later.

    Hey! question for ya -- If the majority of people DON'T offroad their wranglers and even the new bronco, y don't companies just make an SUV where you can take the roof off/doors off and skip the offroad gear? It would certainly reduce the price of the vehicle and there'd be WAY fewer components to worry about. Thanks!!!;)

  • @loupgarou1863

    @loupgarou1863

    Actually it probably wouldn’t drop the price much. The roof helps keep the integrity of the overall vehicle. No roof means different safety measures are needed.

    My wife has owned several Wranglers over the years. Not really my cup of tea but she works fulltime makes great money and deserves to drive what she likes. We have noticed over the past few years a huge increase in the sheer number of Wranglers on the road. Not sure if this is a regional thing or factual but supply and demand is at work here imo. When supply outnumbers demand the price drops .... price of fuel will hurt all gas thirsty models as well and basically a Jeep is like operating a V8 pickup truck, not the best.

  • @uo2230
    @uo2230 Жыл бұрын

    They're like a boat. Fun the day you buy them and fun the day you sell them. They don't ride good, get terrible gas mileage (I'd rather have a V8 if they can't get good mileage) don't have a good repair history and are just too expensive. They're not complicated vehicles so they should be cheaper.

    Jeep wranglers have always had the highest resale. My wife traded in her jk last December. Only had 27k miles. The dealer gave us a great trade in . Then sold it for $1500 less then we paid for it new 4 years before lol In 2 days!!!!! Funny you mention rims. They only thing bad with our jeep was some curb rash. The dealer has stacks of rims from jk’s that the buyer swapped for new rims. So on a jeep as perfect as ours they swap rims just to give it the last touch.

    That head unit ain't no "upgrade". Its a cheap, Chinese "Joying" type, $400 android system that comes with a replacement dash bezel to make it look "factory'. Big threads about then on Wrangler forums. I would run like hell if I were looking for a JK and saw that. The wiring alone makes me cringe. Everything about that Jeep says RUN!!! And the front bumper is not "really expensive"...its about $250-300 bucks on Ebay or Amazon. Nothing about that Jeep screams "Expensive".

    It isn’t unusual for folks, that buy a Jeep intending it to be their primary daily driving vehicle, to end up being disappointed. Jeeps are essentially expensive toys. They’re fun to drive, customize, modify, and upgrade. Off-roading is an enormously expensive hobby. It’s expensive to do the necessary modification to make your Jeep a competitive off road vehicle. And, of course, it’s usual that you’ll break stuff on your Jeep and that has to be fixed and replaced. The Rubicon version is designed to be an off road ready Jeep. Predictably Rubicon’s are expensive and they break when roughly taken off road and put to the test. I’m retired and I’m on my third Jeep. My Jeep’s were bought to be toys. I just disposed of my 1997 Jeep TJ. My grandson is a certified mechanic and he does most of the work for me, and is well paid for doing it. The 97 TJ reached antique status this year. We’d customized it and did the necessary mechanic repairs long ago. I’d had it for 4 years and was ready for a new project. I admittedly overpaid for a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Freedom that I found on the internet. It was a one owner, low milage, like new inside and out and had the preferred 3.6L engine. My grandson added running boards and changed all the lights to LED’s with halo headlights. This is just a show Jeep, so that’s probably all the customizing I’ll do to this one. It won’t be going off road so no need to lift it or put oversized tires on it. This Jeep is a lot more comfortable to ride in than the 97 TJ, and the interior is modern and considerably nicer. It’s the perfect toy for a retired old man to enjoy and have fun with it. Jeeps are designed for old men that need a toy and younger folks with a lot of money and enough free time to enjoy taking them off road.

Every new car dealership wants $113k -$115k for a new one!!! If you special order they say it would take a least 5 months wait. Mine had a msrp of $87k. So I figured $10k over wasn’t bad if you really needed to have one lol. I had traded a 2021 Shelby gt 500 and got $90k for it!! So what I did not have to pay in sales tax THE DIFFERENCE: I actually pretty much got $97k for the Shelby gt 500 that had a msrp of $90,800. I figure it worked out fair DEAL 🤷🏼‍♂️

    I owned one of the first Gen 4 door jeep wranglers sports. They are under way powered and build out of plastic. Not a great vehical for the used prices that are being asked.

    @@kagnewcobra5228 I bought a 4runner instead. I do love jeeps though the Rubicon looks awesome. When it comes down to it though for the money I couldn't justify it especially considering the reliability.

    Sell the Wrangler for whatever you can get for it now. It is likely to be worth less in a few months time. Cut your losses and use the cash to buy something you are confident you can make money on in a falling market.

    That 2011 Wrangler is a total disaster and it's going to take a while to remove all that aftermarket garbage. What you have there is the absolutely lowest most undesirable trim level of wrangler with tacky Ebay stuff all over it. Out west a clean wrangler with tasteful mods still brings top dollar. Heck, I recently sold a 97 Wrangler TJ Sahara with tasteful off road mods such as bumpers, winch, gears, etc that was in very nice shape for 15k private party and it had 200,000 miles on it. If I put my 08 Rubicon JKU, once again with tasteful mods in clean condition I'd ask 20k private party and would have no problem getting it. There's a difference between a nicely outfitted jeep and what you buy from the auction. Basically putting lipstick on a pig.
