Men who have gay desires can be saved. Men who have adulterous desires can be saved. The problem is the gays for some reason expect us to accept their sin as God given. Yeah, that pastor has a false equivalence here.

I remember going to a Christian camp retreat and they were holding 5 hour sermons. They talked about every sin under the sun that straight men commit. It was 200 straight men and 3 obviously gay men. They didn't mention homosexuality once when talking about sin. The homosexual men were hooking up at camp everyone just turned a Blind eye. I left and never went back. I also never went back to that church that invited me to that hot mess.

Your videos have been a wonderful and edifying, Cory. I want to say that Mackie’s sermon shown here was actually the one that God used to finally hammer it in and convict me that homosexuality is a sin. He starts off making it clear the purpose and design of marriage, then discusses celibacy as a suggestion/requirement for those who are “gay” to follow and obey Jesus. This particular section he is just addressing the stigma or isolation single people face in churches, both “straight” and “gay”. It’s just the wording that makes it sound as if he is affirming their identity in it, but Mackie absolutely emphasizes having your identity in nothing else but Christ. It’s ultimately unfortunate wording to interchange “gay” with “struggles with same-sex desires.” May God continue to bless your ministry, and that we may all continue to be smart Christians!

  • @tic8259

Yes, definitions are needed!!! There is a difference between gay and same sex attracted. I often find that people who struggle with same-sex attraction (those who struggle but strive to live holy and serve the Lord) get labeled by the Church/Christians as "gay" (or those who actively and habitually live in homosexual sin). BUT the church doesn't do that for Christians who struggle with other sins. We don't call a Christian striving toward sobriety an alcoholic or drug addict. Just like we don't call married Christians who struggle with lust and strive to deny themselves and live daily for God, adulterers! Treat the same sex attracted Christian as a person who is saved by the blood of Jesus and being sanctified daily, striving to live holy. Don't label them by their sinful past. God doesn't even see them that way.

  • @davidboxton

Yes. I hope that is the case DC.2. Actually, if the construction of his statements leaves an obscure view on God's identity for us, I'm hoping he will make clear his point, if he has not already. I really appreciate Tim and John. I understand completely what Ti C is saying too. Having unwanted same-sex attractions should be expected from Christians the same as having unwanted desires to cheat, swindle, or lie. We shouldn't want or foster those characteristics. But the claim Christian and Gay is an oxymoron. I know the need to belong and be accepted is--in the case of many homosexual oriented persons--their inner-most desire. But we won't be acceptable to God if we insist that we accept our unGodly doctrine. He loves everyone ...TRUE, and it is His will that everyone be saved, and proof of our salvation is that we are determined to disconnect things that God hates.

@@HasanUnknown Hey there friend. In the future as you are proselytizing to Christians on a Christian's platform, consider, your beliefs aren't necessarily new to us. Pasting a huge chunk of the Quran is not only pushy, it's not apt to change our minds. Statistically speaking, many more Muslims turn to Christianity than Christians to Islam. To refute your statement, please see the Holy Scripture(s) below: John 14:9. "Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?" John 10:30. "I and the Father are one.” John 8:56-59. "Your father Abraham rejoiced that he would see my day. He saw it and was glad.” 57 So the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?”[b] 58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, 'I AM'” 59 So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.

After listening to the whole sermon, it seems to me people are taking Tim Mackie out of context. The point Tim was trying to make is that homosexuals should be celibate to fulfill their calling as images of God. In God's eyes labels like gay or straight don't matter, but whether you followed God with all your heart. This would, of course, mean denying yourself and fleshly desires. This is a universal calling, but it manifests differently for various people. For those who struggle with homosexual attraction, denying oneself is different from someone who, say, struggles with drug addiction. For everyone has their own cross to bear, but for those who persevere there is also a crown for each person.

Same here, but watch the sermon in its entirety. Mackie upholds Jesus’ definition of marriage (Genesis 1:27). This was filmed back in 2015, so I don’t know how much conversation was going on regarding making a distinction between being “gay” (sexuality as identity) and “struggle with same sex desires” (Christ as your identity and dying to yourself). Unfortunate wording as many say gay intending to mean struggling with same sex attraction. Regardless, let’s continue being smart Christians as we discern the words of men with the words of God!

Over the years there have been times that I wanted to just give up, quit and throw in the towel and sometimes I still do but God won't let me. He always brings me back from the brink after falling, I get back up! However, many have watered, planted and sown into my life throughout the years but it's at this late stage of life that I am truly receiving good, sound & sensible doctrine of His Word through your ministry and others too, but I do try very hard to be discerning in whom I listen to nowadays. I have to spiritually "fight" this battle daily just to continue trusting & believing. Sometimes it gets hard, but I confess that God is my Rock, my strength and my hope. I thank God for Jesus and the GREAT sacrifice He made on behalf of a person like me. Because I have placed ALL my hope in Jesus, I am able to live on each day that God allows. It is you & like-minded people who love the Lord and respects His Word that I believe I am now seeing true "uncompromising" men of God! I didn't necessarily have a problem with their presentation, but they left it as though it was their final decision on the matter without introducing anything to counter it. I am an advocate for 6 literal days. I hope, in this case that clarity in his intended conveyance is all that is needed. I really like those guys. I have this draw toward goof-ball-ism, but not heresy. I didn't stop supporting them just because of our disagreement on the literal days, even though I know it is a serious matter. But if they begin pushing the homosexual agenda, I'm out. I am really going to pray for redemption. I don't want that huge ministry to come up short. So now I watch their stuff carefully before recommending the videos to others.. I even say to people that i do not support all their theology but THIS video is OK. does that make sense bro? ========= The answer to homosexuality is not hetrosexuality, it's purity, it's Holiness. 1 Thess 4:1-7 Same sex attraction is not gay. The way I understand it is, "gay" is a person engaging in homosexuality... which in turn means that a same sex attracted individual has no more excuse for a gay lifestyle than 99% straight men who have hetro-sexual attraction and do not follow through with that thought. does that make sense?

I think there is some misunderstanding here (see the second part of the previous reply from @BibleStudyMade Easy). I think that what Tim was trying to say is this: if it is possible to be celibate, it must be possible to be SSA and celibate - see Matt 19:11c - and renounce sexuality for the kingdom of heaven. In that sense there is "neither gay nor straight", because the same standard applies to both.

I'm gonna be blunt. Stay off the porn. That's the first step. Delete all of your browser history pointing to those sites, stop searching for it. I've been there, so I understand completely. And believe me when I say that it does get easier. Porn twists sexuality in such perverted ways, and it devalues both men and women. You won't stop masturbating immediately, but over time you will find yourself doing it less and less. And you will have more self-control.

Make sure you are respectful when you leave and pray for the church. Each member should read or listen to the bible for themselves. The pastor is human and a sinner too, and can be influenced by the world.

I’m gonna say this because the church seems to ignore those of us who have been brought out of the act of homosexuality by the saving and delivering power of the Gospel. I didn’t need to identify by ANYTHING but saved by grace through faith when I put my faith in him. I don’t want anyone referring to me as my previous sinful acts. I’m not a bi sexual Christian. I am a son of God a right given to me by the loves that has been bestowed upon me by THE FATHER HIMSELF. I could no longer engage in the act that I knew the Lord found detestable. I no longer FELT a desire to engage in the act. The more I sought the Lord he even explained to me through his word and provided understanding as to why he designed marriage and sex the way he had. Let’s stop telling people they are okay to identify as a sexual act they engage in whether homosexual or heterosexual. We identify IN CHRIST We ABIDE in Christ and we move how he says to and how the Holy Spirit causes us to. Amen

What Tim Mackey is communicating is that a gay person who decides to stay single and not give into their desires for the same sex should not be ostracized from the church. The Bible Project did such a good job for me that it's blatantly obvious Tim is rationalizing sinful behavior to conform to the whims of the contemporary world. It is not enlightened, evolved, or biblical.

Their exodus classrooom study with Dr. carmen Imes is great; however, when I started listening to their podcast…everything seemed off. He leads conversations regarding the word as if they’re open to interpretation and open ended. It’s a weird approach when I take the Bible literally unless it’s obvious hyperbole, etc. Ugh, another one bites the dust. I stopped following everyone almost and just go to my new church, and read with the guidance of the Holy Spirit now. This channel is good too as well as Ontario Calvary chapel but the rest are off in some way. Not saying we won’t disagree on minute things that could be subjective (like what the stones in the ephod could have POSSIBLY meant), but things like homosexuality, salvation, etc…when there are major differences to what I’m reading in the word and studying in context, I just let the channel/person be.

However, that does mean wrestling with the fact the Bible is written in many genres. So a literal reading of the text is not always a faithful or accurate reading.

So as far as Tim Mackie's part is concerned, you apparently didn't listen to his hour long lesson he gave here. It had nothing to do with homosexuality. What you've done here is at the very least created a huge straw man as you took a few clips, made up your own context and then falsely claimed he said it that way. There's no conceivable way you could have watched that lesson and came away with what I just listened to you say. The lesson was about marriage, divorce and sex within the proper context that God defined, in which Tim Mackie based his entire lesson on 3 main passages. Matthew 19:1-12, Genesis 1:27 and 2:24 and Deuteronomy 24:1-4. Tim over and over in this lesson states that proper imaging of God within a marriage is 1 man and 1 woman to procreate. He never adds to, or takes away from, this. He stated at the beginning that he's read the Matthew 19 passage to gay people who want to get married. The clear context, in this case, was that it's better to stay single, not marry and abstain from sex. At no point did he ever allude to the fact that it's cool to be a Christian and be a practicing homosexual. The fact that he stated proper imaging of God with marriage and sex, is between 1 man and 1 woman, completely refutes your misrepresentation of his point.

Hey brother! Love your channel! I gotta say I don’t think Tim was implying that one can remain in their sin and not be broken or torn over it. I’ve seen this lecture. He doesn’t believe in blurring the lines. I just think he was just trying to make a point. I understood what he was doing, though I think there could have been a better way. But he was already making the point of how unjust it is for homosexuals to be ostracized in our churches. And also, he is not referring to homosexual lifestyle. But homosexual in its correct definition, same-sex attraction. Same-sex attraction is not a sin. Andy Stanley, on the other hand, that dude has gone off the rails. That guy is literally quoted as saying it is OK to embrace a sinful lifestyle. I think that guy has a problem.

It seems to me the only reason Andy has no problem making gays feel comfortable in their sin is because he is probably gay. God is not willing that anyone should perish, but if we will not turn from our wicked ways, we will not spend eternity with God. We have to do it God's way and not our way. Andy needs to tell gays the truth about what God says in his word about this lifestyle.

Loving people doesn’t mean you agree with and support everything they do, especially if it goes against scripture. Love says no. Love draws lines we are unwilling to cross. Love tells the truth in all situations even if it hurts to hear it. Too many people think you have to be silent or stand on the sideline and or as many are saying in this hour do not judge a person’s lifestyle but this is not biblical. Jesus would address it and so should we, those in Christ. “Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬-‭17‬ ‭KJV‬‬ “For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭31‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I can understand where it could be perceived that Tim is blurring the lines, but in the 57th minute of his video he reaffirms that marriage is between a man and a woman only. I believe and this is just conjecture given his statement in the 57th minute, that he is talking about people that struggle with homosexual attraction. He could have been more straight forward, but I believe that’s the message he is trying to convey. God loves us where we are and through him is where the change will come. We don’t clean ourselves up before we can come to Christ, but it is his blood that washes us and thus changes our heart. He didn’t say this specifically, but that is the implication. You cannot be a practicing homosexual and please God. Does that sentence us to eternal separation from God? I believe only if you reject God’s law and call what is wrong right. Struggling with sin is not the same as accepting sin as right.
