Are Erling Haaland's Goals Enough?

On this week's episode of The Breakdown, brought to you by Sky Bet, we looked into the data and tactics behind why Erling Haaland’s ‘General Play’ has been criticised in recent weeks.
Do you think Haaland must improve his all-around game, or do you believe his goal-scoring prowess is more than enough to compromise?

That’s what makes a world class player, performs in any team whether it suits him or not, deserves only praise this boy, any criticism is ridiculous, he breaks records !!!!

He’s much better on a team that can counter attack and play through balls for him like at Dortmund. City has to deal with low blocks constantly. Makes it hard for any striker to get involved.

tbh i think Haaland would have been amazing for United under Ole since they mainly played on the counter against any and every team 😂 Of course City's team are milessss ahead, but just on style of play, that Ole team probably would have worked for Haaland.

The focus should really be on percentage of chances converted. Haaland gets so many goals because city create so many chances, but his actual conversion rate has been poor this season, especially compared to other prem strikers

He's also poor in the air, he only scored a handful of headed goals at dortmund. With his size he has to provide a threat in the air in open play and set pieces, it would add an additional dynamic to city's play.

I'm not sure he needs to improve his general hold up play and all that to still be an effective striker in any team but if he wants to be the best in the world he sould alway be driving to get better in every aspect of play!

Why are people blaming Haaland when it’s clear this is the tactics Pep wants to play? Doesn’t mean it’s wrong or right but it’s crazy to be mad at Haaland when he’s doing his job. Now I would say I think they are missing a big part of Haaland game by not letting him drop off and combine and even more than that, when he drops off he can make runs in behind much easier and he actually has an insane shot from distance he used to use a lot at Dortmund

He's purely and mainly a GOALSCORER of the highest order! He's not even a striker let alone being a PLAYER! Why? Bec he lacks TECHNICAL SKILLSET and INTANGIBLES to dictate or dominate. He's so dependent on what the team can do for him not what he can do for the team! He's PHYSICALLY gifted and technically not talented. He's a modern type of Inzaghi, Trez and Ruud playing style with smart clever runs to find the empty space with superb finishing skills.

Mahrez left. And so he has played more. Isn't it simple to understand? He has more minutes in the EPL at this stage this season than in the entirety of last season. Doesn't that count?
