Are e-bikes worth it? let's see 🤔

In "The Free e-Bike", Taryl was sent this Juiced Hyper Scorpion e-Bike from Rick out in Jacobus, PA. How gracious of him! We thank you Rick for the kind gift. Taryl's gonna go over this thing, unbox it and put it together before taking it on a ride around the neighborhood. Is this thing worth $2k?? I guess it depends on what you're using it for. It sure is high tech and has a lot of gadgets. You be the judge.
For more info check out Juiced e-Bikes online and be sure to do your research so you know what you're getting. And as always... There's Your Dinner!!
This was NOT a paid video. We simply reviewed this free bike we received.
All Juiced Bike Batteries are UL Compliant and relatively safe if used and maintained correctly. They also make this Anti-Explosion Battery Bag if you're worried about the battery: www.amazon.com/FLASLD-Lipo-Ba...

Hi y’all! We want to address the Chain Guard on this bike. There IS a chain guard already built into the sprocket. It covers around the chain and the sprocket. The pedal is in a clocked position above the chain guard sprocket to prevent your pants from getting caught in there. Look at any new mountain bikes with gears on the market and they have the same setup. Been using that design for years. And there’s your dinner!!

I took my bicycle to the bottle shop the other day... I got a bottle of vodka and put it in the bike's basket. As I was about to leave I thought to myself that if I fell the bottle would break. So I drank all the vodka and then headed home. It turned out to be a really good decision because I fell eleven times on my way home.

Very thoughtful Rick!! I think Taryl needs to ride it and pay you a visit!!
Rick, that was very nice of you. Sorry about your situation, but it looks like you have good motivation to overcome. God bless you!
*Taryl should load that bike in his van/trailer/ pickup truck when he heads to PA for a event, and than stop by and ride that bike with Rick. Would be a awesome thank you for Rick buying that for him. I'm sure Rick would enjoy a ride with Taryl on their e bikes!!* And if you do it, please make a video of it. We would love to see it.
I have that exact bike but blue with seat riser. I only have about 450 miles on it but I love it so far. I'm in Vermont so it lives in the cellar for the winter - can't wait for spring!
Hi guys just to mention as may not state on instructions , when charging the battery have the button in the off position and when removing battery/fitting on bike. Charger light will turn from red to green when fully charged. Also battery can take up to 6 hours to fully charge from 1 bar/low and a timer can be used to avoid over charging the battery. Great video guy's all the best. Scott
Always good to read the destructions first!
Outstanding 🙌 Thanks for the feedback! 🎉
Great video on the assembly details. It's not trivial for a lot of people, but I'm sure grass-rats can handle it. I got a pair of e-bikes a few years ago & they are great fun. Really good way to get you out & about exploring even if you're not a super sporty type.

This video is like Christmas morning in February! Taryl, this video is now the Defacto unboxing and setup instructions for Juiced bikes. As a senior ebike owner of 2+ years, I can attest to the fact that these bikes open a whole new world of exercise and fun opps. I'd highly suggest you keep this thing around for your golden years and in the meantime too. Thanks, what fun this one was!

watch out for ladies 20 years your junior driving cadillacs, one of them killed my former boss who was a B-17 captain, survived the luftwaffe to be one of the first into germany, and then berlin, only to be taken out by a woman who could have been his 5th ex wife!
Thank you Rick for your generosity. And thank you Taryl and The Boys for another entertaining and informative video. I worked in the bicycle industry for many years but we didn't have anything like this bad boy. Everything was much lighter as YOU were the motor. Taryl, perhaps one of your "fireside readings" with the paper manual?

I just got into e-bikes last summer'v. I use existing bikes and put Bafang motor kits on them. I've done 5 of them for myself and friends. I held out for a long time but now that I'm in my 70s I'm glad I switched. They are a game changer for sure and keep us old folk on the road.

I was looking into those for my mountian bike I spent alot on and forgot at the time I'm not so young anymore lol. Gets my legs burning something fierce just in short rides. Now those are the kind that replace the back tire right? Like the motor is built into the hub of the back tire. I was wondering just how powerful are they and how far can you get with them.
What a great gift! And what a great guy. Now put a V twin in there😁

Too bad I didn't see this video sooner, as I might have purchased a JUICED. I too can't get around very well but I can pedal a bike and it's still good exercise. I have 2 now and we enjoy them, but not near as much as we enjoy Taryl's videos. Rick is the man!!!

That's a real sweet bike! Rick is a real nice guy to do that for you. You know you don't have to turn the battery off every time! There's a setting in the control saying power off delay, or something like that, that tells me that it should turn off completelý after a set time once you turn off the key.
The skits are great! Always look forward to a new TFA vid!
Good guy Rick for sending a kool guy like Taryl his love of a great You tube channel . paying it forward shows Love for the world.
I currently ride an older aluminum full suspension mountain bike with a Chinese 1500 watt rear hub motor kit and 52v 30ah battery as well as controller in a large cereal box shaped ammunition box on a seat post type newspaper carrier out back (laid down flat) I ride it 30 miles per day weather permitting, and really like it. I think the build set me back about $900 total, well worth it-upgraded brake pads as I tried cheap disc brakes and they burned up too quickly. The stock brakes with good quality pads work fine and last a long time. Over the years I've been building many gas and electric motorized bicycles so I thought I'd add my 2 cents, excellent videos Taryl.
It was exciting to see you unbox and assemble this unit. Very nice and I would like to have something similar one day. I had a Honda Ruckus for a few years and my brother asked to use it and wrecked it. I put it back together with new parts and had it straightened then someone stole it from him. The sheriff recovered the Ruckus and I had to do more work to it to bring it back to like new condition then my brother Sold the Ruckus to who I have no idea. It was a registered state licensed vehicle with tags and insurance and it has never shown up again as being registered. I bought lots of parts for that little bike, some of which I still have today, and I know they were great quality units that could go for 50K miles with minimal care and attention to detail. I hope to be able to have something I feel is similar quality again, one day.
The ebike mind trick: "I'm just going to go out and buzz around and just use the throttle. It'll be fun." A few minutes later: "Well I'm here. I'm using the throttle, having fun, might as well pedal some." Then you are actually getting in some exercise.
Great review on this cool E-Bike thank you for sharing…👍👍
Nice bike! I’ve had one (different brand) for three years and love it. I can’t ride my road and mountain bikes any more because of knee damage, but I love to ride and the eBike has provided a great solution. I still get exercise because as Taryl points out, you still have to pedal. I get around 50 miles per charge here in eastern PA where it’s really hilly. But at the Jersey Shore that goes upwards of 75 miles. I’m 67 and have no need for speed, but mine will go 25 no problem and that’s more than enough for me. The weight of the unit is a consideration: 65lbs with the battery installed, 50 w/o. That makes it a pain to load onto the car carrier (I have a bad back) and a special carrier using a tow hitch is required - forget about a bumper rack for e-bikes. My wife has one too and we really enjoy them. More models are coming out all the time and there are all kinds - moped style, like Taryl’s, road and mountain bikes, and cruiser style bikes like mine. I encourage anyone interested to do some research and take a few for a test ride. It’s a lot of fun and good exercise!
Great gift for sure, but a lot of work putting it together. Many owners would find a problem with this part of it as if things are not assembled correctly, it could be a real safety issue! I bought a folding e-bike two years ago and it came fully assembled. The seat on mine, is a bicycle seat on an adjustable height post making it easy to adjust for different riders. It has a rear hub 500-watt motor and it is like a bicycle as well with safety features that one would expect when being motorized. Mine did not come with turn signals or mirrors, however; mirrors I added. I added a passenger seat package (for passengers up to 150lbs) to mine to give the great grandkids a ride. Enjoy the e-bike, they are so much fun!
They should sponsor you T. Great video. I like when you break out now and then like the neon video. Your skits are one of a kind and make me LMAO.
Tanks Rick, you rock!
Wow that's an awesome bike and what an awesome viewer to send as such a gift , Taryl might have to go for a bike ride with Rick now lol would be a great gesture
Awe shucks, I thought you was gonna put a bell on the handle bars.
I bought an ebike a few years ago for trails. Very nice. Its had a few fiddly problems. I kept getting flats on trails. Even thorns would cause a flat. The bike shop put kevlar inside the tire, and that took care of that problem. Had a shifter cable come off inside the thumb shifter. I still haven't fixed that. It may have broken the cable. But overall, it's very cool. Neat machines. I got it primarily for hunting on public lands. There are miles and miles of roads you cant take a vehicle down and trails you cant take a sxs down. These machines are perfect to access those areas.
I have had owned a Juiced bike or about a year. I ride it almost every time to work. Great workout and fun to ride. Just remember to be careful riding one. They are over 125 lbs. and falling especially higher rate speed will mess you up. Juiced bikes are one of the best.
When I was a teenie tiny lad, my dad made me a gocart out of an old self propelled push mower with a crank start just like the one I see in the back ground. He removed the back non drive wheels. Then attached a home made cart with a giant hinge. It steered like an articulated tractor with bulldozer leavers. It wasn't super fast, but I had some pretty big arms for a toddler thanks to that and several other contraptions. Lol. Good times.
Fun and relaxing video, Thank You! I am surprised there is no chain guard on the e-bike.
I gave away a 750w e- mountain bike to my neighbors down the street. I made sure Dad came to get it, it is for his daughter who I think of a a grandchild. My kids won’t can’t ever give me one. I made sure she read the manuals and has a helmet. Her Dad is a firefighter at our metropolitan airport. He knows safety and about lithium batteries, so they won’t be overcharging and catching their house on fire 🔥! 👍🏻💪🙏🏻. At my age I would hurt myself bad and probably never heal. I currently have 500w GOAT e-trike. It will carry two 30’s of Natty Ice, and four Bota Boxes back from the beer store a mile away from my house. My deez truck after burning $10 of fuel wouldn’t even have warmed up enough to blow heat even when I plug 🔌 in the block heater! 🤷♂️ The e-mountain bike would go 35mph, my e-trike goes 20mph empty. Maybe 15mph on the return trip from the beer store fully loaded. I probably don’t exceed 5mph on the straights on the return trip. I don’t want to shake up my beer 🍺🤷♂️😏😆

👍 Cool! It looks strong enough to handle someone heavy and needs help getting around.
What a great guy that Rick, I’ve been looking at these things, some are quite expensive. That one you got there is pretty neat
Wow. Rick's a great guy! By they way, I have one of those benchmade knifes (exact same one I think). VERY sharp knife for sure!

Very nice e-bike Taryl. Well done Rick. May l suggest the two charger power cords be fully uncoiled to prevent my eyes twitching.
Rick, you’re a great guy for doing this
These kind of bikes look FUN... I live on a 50mph street without sidewalks.......... so thinking about the local journeys I take, I'm not sure what a safe route would be.
Rick sounds like a great guy.
Very cool of Rick! I also think e-bike peeps need to send Rick a little $$ back for the hour long endorsement!!👍
67years old with 3 major operations in the last 3 years and I'm riding an electric bike . I just did 11 miles before breakfast this morning. I mostly run with the lowest assist as I want the workout to build stamina. Feels like I'm in my 20's with an electric. I can go up hills setting down and not stressing my knees. My adult son is riding one now just so he can keep up with me.
I want to see an update in a couple months. Keep riding it and keep pedaling. It's fun and great exercise.
Thanks Rick. Sorry you have health issues, but don’t we all. Just in different ways. Glad you figured out a way around yours so you don’t let it beat you. In our prayers.
53:57 " Sting-Ray", Luv It!
thank you rick , good show taryl !
50Cc Moped is a lot cheaper and runs in the rain. The e-bike could be an alternative if the price comes down. I wouldn't pay more than 1k.
I would say yellow in the front and red in the back for turn lights, also a piece of Velcro tape around your right pant leg could save if/when your pant leg gets caught in the chain. Thanks for the video, now I can 🎉
I used to ride miles and miles on my bike, but as I've gotten older my disability has worsened and my mobility has gotten worse along with it, and I just can't ride a pedal bike anymore. I can go downhill all day, but forget about pedaling back up. I looked into e-bikes quite a bit, but they're just too expensive still. A decent one will cost you at least $1,000, and that's just not possible for a lot of people to spend on a bike. Hopefully they'll come down in price in the next few years! Big shoutout to Rick for sending one over for the channel! That's a heck of a gift to the channel and the viewers. Good on you, Rick!

You should summit this video to Juiced. They can add to their website to help people put it together. I have a e bike also, A Magnum Summit e bike. More of a mountain bike. It works for me, I like it alot. Like you, I changed the control order on the handlebars to suit my liking. Add a timer to the home/shop electric outlet that you plug the charger into. Set the timer to 6 hours, so it shuts off automatically. Fires have started when these things are overcharged. A timer eliminates that. Have fun with it.

Your little heads up, watch out for them e-bikes what I have seen in the past and updates charging system while charging some has been catching on fire, also riding those it overheats some has been caught catching on fire and burning up, or just sitting there all of a sudden they start burning. I would just keep an eye on it when you're charging it and keep it somewhere where you won't have to worry about burning your building down or your house. Safety first just a little bit a heads up. Do a little research on these e-bikes catching on fire. Have a great day and a blessed one thank you for your videos.

Awesome video!
On page 22 of the manual it states the power will shutoff automatically after a period of time which you set via the 'Power Off Delay' setting on th lcd screen. Also it appears they may have redesigned the battery as the On/Off button for the battery in the manual is accessible without removing the battery. Can the handle on the battery be removed or it's position he adjusted? Great video!
Great review !
Wow Junior, you resurrected a line from the original Grass Rats Garage videos. I couldn't help but laugh out loud. Have fun with the bike. Keep the vids coming.
a month ago got my first every ebike a addmotor recumbant trike, loving it so far everything works and I am getting used to the long base it is in turning, they want you to practice away from traffic, and in a place to learn turning and adjusting the gear shift and pedal assist and throttle, I have been riding during fairly nice weather and can t wait until we can goto the bike trails close by, he is getting a ebike next year, pedal assist only I have leg troubles and cant walk like I used to, but he is fine, so we can finally be together on trails again after many years of him having to hike alone this bike is reasonably prices but wonder about the battery safty on your ebike? that bike is just a electric motorcycle barly a true ebike for trails. in ohio they only allow level one and two ebikes, which I have no idea what it means but apparently there is a level 3 ebike too. I would never have this bike Iwould defintilyforget to push the off button, to much troble the one I have I turn off the bike by holding the power button and the battery shuts off automatically I have to press the batter button to turn it on.
Cool lookin bike Tatum enjoy the ride
Years ago when I had my license suspended I bought a bike that had a motor assist since the motor was small and not attached with a chain no license was needed the drive wheel was just a skate board wheel attached to the the motor output shaft by pulling a clutch lever it put the skate board wheel in contact with the rear bike wheel and off I went top speed was 30 miles an hour and about 30 miles to a tank of gas and with my granny cart behind I carried a 2 gallon gas can and an extra wheel for the bike my cart had a seat so I could bring my mother and my great nefew along hills gave a new meaning to the term granny gear as I used it to make the top of most hills after I got the bike I soon learned that the easiest way to start the motor was to get some speed up I engaged the motor and that started it very fast and I still have it but the plastic gas tank has disintegrated still I want to get it going I ordered a drive wheel for wet conditions and had a good laugh when it came because it was a small 1 1/4 inch grinding wheel over the 3 year's I drove it it only once had a problem the clutch cable broke and I used a piece of barbed wire to fix it and get me home
Rick is way cool, that ride is legit.
If that's worth 2 k I'm worth 20 billion dollars lol
