I mean hell give them stealth from a cloud of flies just something defensive instead of this lethal hits and stinky aura shit.
I played my first game of 10th against Death Guard. I run my Alpha Legion as Deathwatch, and ngl I felt bad about what happened. He deepstruck ten Blightlords, I fired four frag cannons and he had to pick six of the Blightlords up immediately. Mortarion was dead in Round 2. It wasn't ideally played by my opponent, but not by me either and it still just felt like mugging a child with the disparity in army list strength.
Those 3 Reinforcement boxes where originally a special box which is why it cost so much. Now, theyre just selling them as Reinforcements, it was a pre-order.
The military Segway really sent me down memory lane, made me smile, remembering the good times of my service, thanks gents

Oh yes, same here.
Regarding the weird three-miniature box of Plague Marines: They started out as a limited edition boxed set called "the Plauge Brethren" which came with a unit card -- so they were their own unit of three but with no special stats or anything -- and some postcards featuring John Blanche illustrations of each one. At least I think they were supposed to be the miniatures, the resemblance was not great. The box cost like 30 pounds. This stupid sod bought it because I do love the Death Guard (and you got an extra nurgling, yay) -- but I forgot that in GW speak, "limited edition" just means it's limited now,. After a year the set was out again, minus the postcards and exlusive box, and cost half the price. Grumble grumble grumble...
I'm glad someone finally mentioned that some armies get way more love rules wise. They tend to be a bit cheaper to buy the models as well!
Any Sylvaneth player knows that units sometimes come incomplete. Units of dryads are 10s or 20s. All the dryad boxes come with 16

The army it most upsets is Custodes, who are spoiled rotten by the rules team every edition. When they talked about "so and so wrote this codex, didn't they?" Custodes is an army that comes to mind alongside Eldar. Someone or a couple of people in the GW rules team are massively biased towards those armies and won't allow anything to challenge their supremacy, it seems.

Nobody in the Black Library stable of authors does destruction and the chaos it causes like Abnett. The attack on the shipyards over Calth in Know No Fear is the most insane, well written, and terrifying scene of destruction I've ever read.

@@thepaintingphase I really liked how Wraight showed up a pre-primaris Garadon; honestly Wraight's Terra books are so wonderful. The scene in the parchment scriptorium in the first Vaults novel is one of my favourite scenes from Black Library full stop. Have you read Bloodlines, the first crime novel, too? It's Wraight at possibly his best (and the second novel, Flesh and Steel, is possibly Haley at his best too).
The Death Guard treatment happened a lot with Heresy last year - some of the legions (thousand sons especially) - but especially the Mechanicum and the Solar Auxilia too. In addition, the legacies of the age of Darkness document - 750 point baneblades and other madness. I know it's not one of your "main" games - but it would be really good to consider the first year of the new edition in your videos :)
These chat shows are some of the most chilled out an enjoyable things on the you tubes. Thanks very much for making it. Any plans to get Toumas Pirrien (murdered his name) the creator of mordhiem on? The thing to keep in mind about the Alien movies is that it's just as much about living in a corporate dystopian future as it is about the actual aliens. The first movie was all about Weyland-Yutani sacrificing its crew in the name of profits and James Cameron iterated on that by making the marines closer to corporate mercenaries. It was a motif that I actually didn't notice Cameron brought over until you pointed it out.

They could have Death Guard in unit sizes of 5, 7, 10 (and likewise for favored WE, TS, EC). I found it interesting that Chaos Rhinos in general don't have Firing Deck as an ability, and the keywords are inconsistent with "Dedicated Transport". The Thousand Sons DP has -1" movement to match with the Rubrics, but a DP with MoT from the Index CSM isn't penalized despite being exactly the same aside from its main psychic abilities.
My absolute favorite 40k books (except from Eisenhorn of course) is the Fabius Bile trilogy starting with Primogenitor, they are fantastic, best books about chaos space marines such a shame that Josh Reynolds doesn’t write for Black Library anymore. Also Lords of Silence is great, really shows how vast and ignorant the Imperium is, we as players know about all the factions but for most citizens of the Imperium even chaos space marines are just scary stories and believed not to be real at all.
Peachy and Geoff’s laugh at the start has the power to open doors (slightly)!
I don't care if Death Guard don't perform in the meta, but it's absolutely disgusting that they feel nothing like they're supposed to I'm the lore

Hmmm... great idea! I totally forgot that Eisenhorn is now available as all audio books? [Including Pariah?] Time to get stuck in again! PS: Harlon Nayl should be played by Amos from the Expanse!
I've found a few funny things in the new datasheets. For example; did you know that if you take a flamer on an assault marine or storm guardian they can't attack in combat because they replaced their only melee weapon.
Best episode yet- can we have more books and forces discussion
There was also an ETB set of 3 Plague Marines widely available (blight launcher, bolter, and a champion with power fist, plaguesword, and plasma gun - which I assume is the reason for a plasma gun being an option for the unit champion).
bloody hell! that gasmasks at the couple in car story :D
The 3 bonus plague marines were included in the boarding patrol box, which made them round out to 10. It was a much better plan than the combat patrol, with the three million iffy poxwalker sculpts. Unfortunately, like most boarding patrol boxes, it was for sale for a whole 20 minutes. Hopefully after the successful Leviathan launch, maybe availability will improve, although with the current rules, and no codex scheduled for them in the next year, I don't expect death guard to be playable at all without some major changes. Without significant rules changes, the plague marines need at least a 25% discount, and that's just to compete with middle of the road armies.

That’s the fellas.
May be a bit late on the black templar 11 model sword brethren squad issue but my take is this: unit composition is either 1x Sword Bro Castellan + 4 Sword Bros, or 1x Sword Bro Castellan + 10 Sword Bros. 1 box can be built as 1 sword bro castellan and 4 sword bros or as 5 sword bros. So I think GW's intention is that to make an 11 man sword bro squad, you buy 2 boxes to build as sword bros and the specific castellan model and that's your 11 man squad. The way I see it, your sword brethren castellan works the same as a sergeant would in an assault intercessor squad - it has some additional wargear choices but no abilities. But it's called a castellan for flavour. You could then also attach an actual castellan (lieutenant) to your sword bro squad, and have a squad with 2 "castellans" in it for additional complexity.
Finding Death Guard to be okay on the offensive, but the durability that they're known for (both in lore and on tabletop) is badly lacking. T6 isn't enough to make the Blightlords not terrible. Think dropping the contagion aura in favour of the old army-wide 5+ Feel No Pain would fix them nicely. The -1 toughness aura is meaningless most of the time, especially since most of the DG weapons have Lethal Hits anyway.
Love the Gaunts Ghosts books. Its a real shame GW wont embrace all these different regiments and show more of them off. Peachy you deffo need to do another set of "convert your guard" to look at some of the more unique units from books like the Ghosts etc.
I find it interesting that the state of death guard is resulting in a fair number of people posting their own datasheets and rules.
Love the army stories! I’m in the Canadian Army and i can relate haha.
There's decent food with reasonable prices at UKGE if you head to the carpark outside the front of the Hilton, loads of street food vans with some cracking choices.

I think the first Bequin novel is possibly Abnett at his most perfect, in the series. It is just so evocative. I loved how abnett stretched the inquisition so much - the short stories collected in the Magos are wonderful too (the one at the carneval run by Gregor's friends, a young Gregor as a locum inquisitor, and so on). Pariah (and the second and third Ravenor novels) really benefit from the same situation as those shorts - focusing in on specific locations, really delivering world building, building on the sector Abnett really has thought through. It's why I also really love how BL are really developing Varangantua through the Crime range. It's a realistic version of a hive - not the 2000ad Nikolai Dante punk extremity of necromunda's hive city- but a kind of run down old capital, with real districts, real bureaucracy, real people groups. It allows a kind of introspection towards 40k BL doesn't often do. Highly highly recommended - www.trackofwords.com/2021/09/19/warhammer-crime-the-range-so-far/ The other writer everyone should read is of course Peter Fehervari - www.trackofwords.com/2020/10/31/a-travellers-guide-to-the-dark-coil/

I buy 90% of my models from a certain used Warhammer dealer. And they've always had just a TON of Death Guard. So this leads me to believe that because they were starters for 8th edition, there is much more DG out there compared to everything else. There are a lot of DG armies in people's closets, so GW wants to discourage people from using them. The start of 10th is a sales opportunity and they can't make the most of it if all that used DG is a good army to use.
Custodian wardens are another bad unit where they’ve completely messed the points to box set, they come in a box of 5, can either do a squad of 5 or a squad of 4 and 1 shield captain. The new 10th options it’s either 3 or 6 to a unit

i feel like Death Guard have had their core concept changed, they used to weaken you and were resilient. Now they are the poisoners and infect the board. They cause sticky objectives that create a minus 1 toughness aura and most of the army has a way to auto would units on hit rolls of 6. im looking forward to working out how im going to use them in the new edition. Pat the Sgt Major is the important man in the regiment. He looks after the men. In the units I have touched on usually address the officers as 'Mr'. Even the cooks have to do the fitness training and achieve a shoot score like all the other marines.
American Privates all have at least one stripe because a recruit who hasn't finished Basic yet is a "Private Third Class." So they *do* have no-stripers, you just don't see them because they're all in the training camps. In Canada - and so I assume also in the UK but I don't know - 'Sergeant Major' isn't actually a rank, it's a title given to the most senior non-com in a given unit. so you have Company Sergeants Major (CSM) in the Infantry, Squadron Sergeants-Major in the Armour (SSM), Battery Sergeants-Major (BSM) in the Artillery, and of course the Regimental Sergeant-Major (RSM) is the senior-most non-com in a Regiment, which means he or she has probably been serving for longer than most officers. Also, because Canada still has a legacy of from the 60s to th 90s when we didn't have a separate army/navy/air force, you can end up with Royal Canadian Navy chief petty officers serving as Sergeants-Major. Also: Aliens depiction of the military is interesting, because it really shows just how widespread the Vietnam era perception of the US Army as "incompetent and indifferent" really was. And from an in-universe perspective, it shows how the brass thought this was a pointless mission so they assigned one squad of mostly f-ups with a new butterbar instead of, say, a company with an experiences Captain in charge.
So who is the GW rule writer with the hard on for Iron Hands? They got rules at the end of 9th that made them insane to play against.

Would highly recommend the Cuaphas Cain novels for Pat to read.
Actually this weird box of 3 plague marines are reused sculpts from the dark imperium boxset that GW changed up a bit so hopefully no one will notice, same thing with some other death guard minis, for example the plague marine champion that is sold for 24€ and doesn't even come with any weapon options.
