what's the ongoing cost of sitting in front of a camera and whining? KZread is free, you're not being charged a dime to have a youtube channel. Sure a camera and some lights might cost a bit but you've already had those. That's a one time cost. If you're paying someone to edit your videos you really shouldn't, you just sit and talk and cut out them um's and pauses, you're not doing a bunch of crazy warped editing and funny stuff like markiplier. I think you're doing the alex jones thing of lying about your financial strains so you can beg for some extra money. Hustle if you gotta hustle buddy, I know you need that top of the line hair conditioner, just don't think you're being sly about it.

I am a homosexual person living in chastity. The current state of the Vatican makes me feel totally overlooked. I need help with my struggles as any other Christian, and I'm more upset than ever after Fidulia Supplicans because Courage Apostolate is totally ignored, being the ONLY place in the WHOLE CHURCH where my struggle has been truly answered beyond mere theory. Not even a single letter from the Pope to the Apostolate, less think about a meeting with someone that represents the homosexual faithfuls that live according to the Catholic faith. If you have rejected this sin, why do you still call yourself homosexual? If God has given you natural affections, and you have purged/are purging unnatural affections from your life, then why not pursue a marriage or be open to it? This sin that you had is not entirely disqualifying. Perhaps you will meet a person of the opposite sex that has also struggled in this way, and will be able to bear each others burdens more easily than if you married someone who didn't have that chosen affliction.

I left the church in 2008 because of the scandal. I caame home last year. It is so discouraging to see all the divisions in the church and very sad. I have come to see that I have to keep my eyes on Jesus and not let evil people drive me away. I was so happy to be home and regret all the years I missed.

I agree with this. Once we begin to claim that Papal Magisterium is heretical though, it is misguided anger and no longer righteous. Not saying you're making that claim, but it is present in Catholic media and only makes things worse.

The magisterium is far more extensive than the current denizens of the Vatican dicasteries and other confrerès of this Pope, nor is it time-bound. This Vatican is not, unfortunately, very often amenable to dialogue or discussion but tends toward the authoritarian in both nature and action. While still weakly endorsing the Ten Commandments handed down on Mt Sinai, it prefers to issue its own more capricious commands, as in the recent “Fiducia supplicans,” expecting prompt and unquestioning obedience from priests and faithful. If such commands were not directly opposed to the clear teachings of the Gospels and the apostles’ witness, there would be little or no objection. The problem, however, does not lie with fractious or stubborn priests, bishops, and faithful but in the heretical nature of what this Pope and his Vatican are asking, or rather are demanding. At stake are not ephemeral lifestyle choices but the eternal souls of those who need to be told the truth instead of hearing the quiet hiss of Eden’s “snake” saying, “Did God REALLY tell you that…?”

We need action, not a load of pansy waffle about charity and not judging, and I know that's not what you are saying, you spoke very well, but too many people are and they use it as an excuse to avoid the Truth. Or else more children will be hurt.

I have a pagan past, too. I'm so grateful to have turned my heart to God and embraced Catholic teachings. It's the only healing I have ever known.

I am a protestant Christian that was sexually abused in a protestant church as a child. I now staff and financially support several workshops that work with men that were sexually abused. I can attest that this issue is very real today and is still common. Brian is speaking the truth in this video. You are a brave man Brian. We have to learn to listen to others, especially knowledgeable ones. This is not an “us” versus “them” Church; it is God’s Church. Let’s Glorify Him, and work on being Saints. God promised He will look after His Church; but gave us responsibly to “work out our salvation”. May God Bless you all .

As a non denominational pastor, I know how wide spread the abuse is. It breaks my heart when I think of the victims. Whatever their background is. I truly appreciate your stance. Those two were amazing. And the fell in love with my guardian donkey. And he was a mini boy. They would jump fences to be near him. Anyway, just wanted to share. BTW, thank you for your post. As an orthodox i have to say you are very brave traditional Catholic

I really am certain that we do not owe “obedience” to wolves who have found their way into the sheepfold. It is the DUTY of shepherds to protect the sheep from marauders and it is the duty of the sheep to protect the lambs of the flock by fighting back.

I am a Catholic from a long story Catholic family and now, seeing all this "messaging" from the Catholic Church in favour of ideologies that are not Cristians makes me very confuse, sad and even angry. I don't want to go out of the Catholic Church, I only want return to the path of the teaching of Jesus Christ and the Saints. Thank you for all the videos and topics you publish. My family and I personally saw the lack of accountability in regards to Church policy. My autistic brother was violently (not sexually) grabbed by an usher in the middle of mass for not wearing a mask during covid. When nothing was done we went to the diocese. At first there was a ton of concern, but this totally vanished when the pastor told the diocese that nothing happened. This was monumentally frustrating, but I could never leave the Church. Yes it is frustrating to see all of these supposed programs of accountability exist solely for legal reasons. God bless Christ’s Church. I’m so grateful to be a Catholic, even with the frustrations that may come up from time to time.

You have every right to angry for what happened to your brother. Imagine being so scared germs would spread because someone wasn't wearing a mask but you're not afraid to put your hands on them. It's actually mental. My friend was grabbed by the wrist by a woman at the door for not wearing a mask. It was happening in all places in all walks of life. You have been able to remember that Jesus is why we go to Mass and no person can out us off going.

There is a place for moral rage, for the popesplainers the only target is the traditional religious and laity. The church has destroyed its own moral authority and trust , so we the laity must remain vigilant and skeptical.

Pray for me, the church and the priests. My TLM parish just got shut down by the bishop.

Because I’ve been a reader of Crisis Magazine as long as it’s existed I knew all about Ted McCarrick before moving to DC in the mid-eighties. When my firstborn was confirmed, McCarrick did it, but absolutely everyone knew about his proclivities by then (2001). The teachers at his school even warned the male students. Yet, he went unpunished and in 2002, the USCCB even appointed him the point man for the “zero tolerance policy” which was just another slap in the face to the faithful. Am I Catholic still? Yes but none of my kids are nor is my spouse.

I won't let my kids watch me submit myself to these kinds of people. I have three; I know many good priests I would trust their safety with. But I will not trust the institution with them. I will not give, "religious assent of intellect and will," to this kind of machine. Any God that would ask me to is not the same one we got in the Incarnation. I know exactly how I would handle what some of these parents went through. Anyone who didn't try to do what I would do I honestly don't think of as being worthy of being called a parent. Catholics have chosen to tolerate this - for what, exactly? Is it not enough that they've also completely adulterated your religion behind the authority they're supposed to use to defend it? Go read William Tyndale. He had the only appropriate response to people like this.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of my uncle, "L.S.," who was a faithful Catholic his whole life until 2001. In his anger and shame, he was shaken to the core, and never returned to Mass. I think that, in his mind, his Protestant family and friends were proven right by the abuse. Maybe he thought that because priests are holy, they are also impeccable, or at least that their sins are miniscule. He died of COVID, without the Sacraments, in 2021, on the Feast of St. Nicholas. His wife of some 60 years was barred from being with him in the hospital as he lay dying. He was put on a video call, and was obviously fully conscious, but intubated, so he couldn't speak. Please pray that he accepted the truth of Jesus Christ at the moment of his death, and that he may rest forever in the perpetual light.

I'm not a trad myself, I'm just a NO Catholic who lives the dogmas and doctrines of the faith the best I can. I don't understand your need to throw out Catholicism along with the trad stuff. Brian my brother, I'm over the moon you addressed this so superbly. Pope Benedict did his best but he was slandered by the same press who grovel over Bergoglio and make believe in his "I'm ever so humble" nonesense. It proves they don't care about children or victims. They just hate the church, so of course they're going to love a Pope who is hell bent on destroying her. I was confused by the part about charity at the end. Charity to whom? The child molesters and perverts or the people who turn a blind eyebto them and make excuses for them? What kind of charity should we give them? It seems giving these people charity only leads to more innocence being hurt. Hurting innocents is a worse sin than lacking charity to evil swines. The bad men mentioned in this video should be in prison or worse. Where was charity for Cardinal Pell? He didn't get the help or protection they got and he was innocent. The high ups had it in for him because he was faithful and traditional. We won't protect innocents by being concerned with charity when we should be full of Holy rage.

Our “number” should be zero. We claim a higher calling. I find the “acceptance” of any number above zero to be a disgrace. Until everyone subscribes to that standard, we can justly expect to be mocked and shamed.

I try to remind myself that the history of Holy Mother Church is long, and to put it bluntly, not every Pope was a Saint. I also remember that the Church has reformed itself again and again, over the centuries and so things will get better. Faith.

The Orthodox Church didn't reform itself again and again. The Church is not a temporal institution.

This is a thought-provoking video, and I largely agree. As many have noted, we as Catholics have a responsibility to be charitable toward the Pope and prelates, but it is a far greater injustice to be silent in the face of such terrible corruption. Non-Catholics are generally well aware of the very real problems our Church is facing, so to pretend these problems are not there does a great disservice to those who show an interest in converting. We must be honest about the crisis our Church is facing so we can effectively fight against it. Although this video focuses mostly on the sexual abuse scandals, I find the same principle to be true with regard to doctrine. It is obvious that the Pope is not as clear as he should be; he seems to thrive off of weaponized ambiguity. Fiducia Supplicans is a great example of this, as it proposes an essentially impossible situation and has led to people like Fr. James Martin to attempt "blessings" of same-sex partnerships, not just the individuals within the partnership. The Pope's friendlines toward Fr. Martin, including his decision to invite him as a voting member of the latest Synod, gives the impression that Pope understands what Fr. Martin is doing and is simply looking the other way. His "clarifications," which never equate to an actual censure of heterodox priests like Fr. Martin, cannot undo the damage that his ambiguous statements have already caused. Also, Mr. Holdsworth, I would further ask you to be more consistent and impartial in these videos. Your video notes the lack of accountability for prelates who tolerated or even attempted to cover up sexual abuse scandals, but you have failed to mention that John Paul II acted in exactly the same way; it was he who made McCarrick a cardinal, even after he was repeatedly warned about McCarrick's sexual perversions. I think it is a mistake to pretend that corruption in the Vatican began with Pope Francis. This has gone on for a long time.

I think many of us have waited and hoped with each new Pope there would be a reconciliation. But none has occurred yet. This past year we all saw Pope Francis travel to Canadian and apologized to native people for abuse at schools in the past. There has been no apologies or attempts at reconciliation with lay Catholics at large. I feel we are just taken for granted.

Why shouldn't we be taken for granted? Most lay Catholics are able to justify the most heretical actions if it is the Pope who commits it. The ones who resist the destruction of Catholicism are only a minority. And if some Catholics belonging to this minority leave the Church, this is a bonus for our progressive leadership. @harvestingnow1571 I don't know how true or what the whole truth is. It seems many children died there but the causes are uncertain. There is a high probability of disease being a major factor. The same thing happened in US Indian schools where the church was not involved. My comment was not to rehash the details of this specific account. Only to point out the vatican knows how to apologize and to note the Church leaders have yet to do anything similar to its own lay Catholics. I just feel taken advantage of.

So many people have left the faith due to the Church’s handling of the abuse. Now, many people are upset with Frances. It’s going to be a rough ride. Everyone says pray and have faith. I am an action person. Can we write or do something? What if we flooded the Vatican with letters?

Im an action person too. 🙏 The letters would be thrown in the trash. Letters won't make those evil creeps suddenly go, "you know what, I should stop being a pervert. You know what, I should stop protecting child molesters." We could pray like mad that God does something drastic. And speak up and correct people when they fawn over Bergoglio. Avoid liberal parishes like your life depends on it. Don't give your money to them. Go to a parish that does good. I go to an SSPX Chapel. I know that's not fashionable, but at least the collections don't go into the pockets of the perverts at the top. It goes to poor priests and seminarians who love Christ's church. Small actions like that will add up. God sees the good you do. He loves you.

Defund the heretics, no money for special collections, support your parish in its maintenance, but no extra $$. They fear an empty collection plate more then anything.

Dear Brian, soulmate, thank you. I try to stay away from whatever comes from ‘Rome’, since I have returned to the Church some four years ago. Especially under the current vicar, it’s wiser to spend time in scripture, the lives of the saints and sound theology. But amongst a few others (e.g. Dr. Gavin Ashenden) you are my favourite YT-’distraction’. But what’s more: inspiration. Greetings, in Christ, from The Netherlands.

Some say the Church has to go through it's own passion. Remember God wins in the end, and the Blessed Mother said her immaculate heart would triumph. Keep praying the Holy Rosary.

Great podcast. You've expressed what so many of us are feeling. I live in Germany where the bishops have hung us out to dry.

Nicely nuanced exploration of the subject, Brian. As an Eastern Orthodox Christian who feels aligned in many ways with the Roman Catholic church, this shift by Francis into strange innovations has scared me some.

“If they can convince you to believe in absurdities, you will allow them to commit atrocities.” I pray for the church of my baptism every day. Remember the quote of a great Saint. “ I would go absolutely insane, if I didn’t know that Christ has the last word.”

This church almost did drive me insane and that's why I had to leave. I gave up everything - a whole life - believing in Catholicism. A life I am only just now getting the barest slivers back. I owe a lot to great Catholics, more than most people could ever say. But if any of those great Catholics are the kind of people that helped me, they'd leave the Church like I did. Many of them I know are about to.

@@littlerock5256 You have no idea what my experience is. I was very deeply in the real thing. It was only after actually doing theology beyond Google and KZread I learned the Manualists & Magisterial Theology. In short: the "R&R" position is untenable and not permissible by Catholic ecclesiology. According to all Prior-V2 Theology, what's been going on the last eighty years is metaphysically impossible by their "infallible" framework - yet, here we are. Once you realize that you'll be forced to reckon with the truth about the Church in terms of the origins of the Magisterium. I have no interest in LARP. Have fun with it while you can, though.

​@@OGRamrod I left the V2 sect in 2018, and became a sedevacantist.in 2021. Don't leave the Church. A remnant still exists - just as the Church and Jesus always told us would happen.

Such an open and truthful commentary Brian … I’m a cradle Catholic … lapsed and then returned in 2017 .. never felt as much at home in my life TG But I’m afraid the “ Human Leadership “ of the church in disarray… I put my full faith in the real shepherd Our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ And am so thankful that the Holy Spirit brought me back into the faith If it’s even only to pray for what’s going on. Brian thank you so much for your honesty … if things aren’t brought into the light , they can never be healed . God our father is never a Father of confusion . But I’m afraid our current pope, is mastering the art of confusion more and more , year by year May God have mercy on him and guide him… Jesus is our Redeemer and Shepherd King . O my gosh you absolutely hit the nail on the head!

I am long term member of the Diocese of Tyler and the lack of justice in Bishop Strickland being removed while so many wolves are allowed to roam free is infuriating. I think you summarized very well the anger that some many laypersons, including myself, feel when looking at the state of church. I see that we have a obligation now to speak up and be active and vocal in our faith calling for a prelates to be faithful. More importantly, I think we must be more active in cultivating lives of virtue in our personal walk with the Lord and in our families and communities. Would I walk away or commit schism? No, tempting though it feels, at the end of the day we know what Christ taught and I believe the question that is being posed to us is simply do we trust Christ? Never mind those around us, will WE be faithful? That is only question that really needs answering.

Great way of putting this. I especially struggle with the idea that being passive is basically being taken advantage of. As with all things though virtue is both a means and an extreme, which is kind of what I think you’re getting at here. Nice job

We really do feel betrayed by the leadership and it’s heartbreaking to see no one standing up and the few that do get canceled. I think most of us are just what is going on are they all cowards or are they even Catholic? And that’s the worst part I think, not knowing if the leaders of the church are even Catholic. This was so good Brian. I’m there with you. I am a convert from Protestantism. I am in NJ and in the diocese of Newark under Cardinal Tobin. The parishes here are so far from anything that looks traditional. You never hear anything about hell, purgatory, abortion, morality, etc. Pornography and cohabitation is rampant and we hear homilies on ,”be kind, from our head pastor. For those of us that live here we have no where to go. There are some beautiful Catholics in our parish and two younger priests that are faithful and traditional but they are under the authority of the head priest. I went to our head priest after being there for over two years. Bathed in prayer I went to ask honest questions and was told I was judging and to just concentrate on myself. He became defensive and continued to gaslight me throughout our conversation. That should tell you a lot. I pray for him as well as the Pope. A very small group of us meet after daily mass to pray. So many faithful are being tested but we have to remain vigilant and faithful to Christ. Please pray for us here. If anyone knows of a beautiful, more traditional Church in or near Bergen County NJ please let me know.

I will add humbly: infallibility of your Pope is the main problem. It was/is man made theology of Vatican. Until that changes I’m afraid temptations of this kind won’t go away

I’m glad to start listening not only priests and even Bishops (too few yet) but also laity speaking up against the disservice and corruption within the Church, especially in this Pontificate. We cannot and will not be silence. It is our duty to resist the wrong teachings and defend the Deposit of Faith received from Jesus himself through the Apostles and the First Fathers all the way through before VII. We know that nothing happens without God’s consent. Howe ver, we ought to pray, sacrifice to live a holy life for reparation, and also do what we can to let the hierarchy of the Church know our discontent with those novelties they want to impose to us by praxis (of course they wouldn’t dare to put in writing any of this “pastoral theology “) so that God grants us the good Shepherds we badly need. We ought to do our part and let God do the rest. After all He has the last word. Christus Vincit! Viva Cristo Rey!

Orthodox here : People are always rightfully angry when they found out they have been played. You cant preach something one day and the opposite the next day and expect no one reacts.

I held off on commenting because I wanted to take this to prayer. Upon first listen, I was a "Yes woman," repeating, "Yes. Yes. Yes!" to various points. It's so well thought out and presented. Who among us has not struggled with the question of how to approach the Faith, and our personal faith, in light of the revealed corruption and evil within the Church? As I let this steep in my mind, I went on with my daily prayer with Scripture. Today's prayer reading (which I chose from those found in today's reflection for the Nine Days for Life Novena) is from the Epistle to the Hebrews: For whereas for the time you ought to be masters, you have need to be taught again what are the first elements of the words of God: and you are become such as have need of milk and not of strong meat. For every one that is a partaker of milk is unskilful in the word of justice: for he is a little child. But strong meat is for the perfect: for them who by custom have their senses exercised to the discerning of good and evil. -- Hebrews 5: 12-14

Your idea to support your excellent work with a mere five bucks a year was excellent Brian. I was happy to do so. And sincere thanks for your dedicated loving service. I had a similar rebirth after a decade away from the church and the sacrament of reconciliation occasioned an overwhelming awareness of the love of God in Jesus that I have remembered decades later. Jesus lives in the church He founded and is present in her sacraments. We are the wounded Body of Christ in the world. I'm also one who now sides with the "popesplainers" on the issues that have seen such contestation and I do believe there is something to the special charism enjoyed by the visible head of the church. This is not to say that Francis couldn't improve in some areas of communication, but I have always found him to be orthodox solidly. I do think that there's a bit of an industry against him as Prof. Fastiggi shows. And I fully agree with you about rooting out corruption in our church and here again I am hopeful and believe I have grounds for believing that the evil is aging out here in the west and that the newer clergy members are indeed a holier breed. So God bless you my excellent friend for your wonderful self gift to us as you try to follow the Holy Spirit and help us rebrand the very body of Christ. Keep up the great work.

Thank you for explaining this so well because this is exactly how I’ve been feeling. And far too often I’ve been accused as well as others I know of being “schismatics” or “rad trads” just because we are pointing our concerns and frustrations. We don’t do this because we don’t like our Pope or our leaders. We love them and our Church, but it feels like we’ve been betrayed all because we want answers and just simply point what concerns us. We’re upset, frustrated, concerned, etc because our faith is the most important thing to us. It doesn’t make us disobedient because we are vocalizing our opinions on what frustrates us.

First of all, thank you yet again for these great videos you make and the arguments you raise. I see the pope as the archbishop of Rome in the Catholic denomination, and therefore as a bishop--a valid one. I don't see him any higher or lower than that. I think one passage from scripture that helps me stay grounded in thinking about him is when Paul stood before the Sanhedrin in Acts 23: "Paul looked straight at the Sanhedrin and said, “My brothers, I have fulfilled my duty to God in all good conscience to this day.” 2 At this the high priest Ananias ordered those standing near Paul to strike him on the mouth. 3 Then Paul said to him, “God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! You sit there to judge me according to the law, yet you yourself violate the law by commanding that I be struck!” 4 Those who were standing near Paul said, “How dare you insult God’s high priest!” 5 Paul replied, “Brothers, I did not realize that he was the high priest; for it is written: ‘Do not speak evil about the ruler of your people.’” I hope this helps you ✌🕊

There is a difference between speaking evil and speaking truth , what if your leader is doing evil or his direct underlings are doing evil ? . That mindset gave us the scandals and the problems we have now.

Speaking plainly about the catastrophe of the "management" and acknowledging problems without pussyfooting or minimalizing them is also a witness to those "on the outside". Yes, you can be catholic and not have to defend the indefensible. In fact, it's a necessary part of being a good soldier.

I was sexually abused by two priests as a boy it has been hard for me to came back to the faith with all that this pope is doing i do not think I will be staying with it i do not no we’re to turn or what to do theres no help within the church for someone like me poele are horrified and repelled if I tell them of the abuse it feels that the Vatican is trivialising the sorts of things that happened to me as a child there is more I wauld like to say but spelling is very hard for me my schooling suffered a great deal during the years of sexual abuse

@@Hope_Boat I agree with you on premise, but what am I to do? Leave the Catholic Church for yours? By doing so I’d be committing apostasy, a grave sin in the eyes of the Lord. Personally from where I’m standing I’d have better odds remaining loyal to the Church I was committed to and distancing myself from these corrupt practices. At least then when God delivers his judgement he’ll see that I had faith in his goodness and as a result he’ll spare me the worst of the punishments. If I run I’ll be held to apostasy, if I stay I run the risk of being associated with devils and in both cases the odds aren’t in my favor. However in one case I’m 100% responsible for the choice and in the other I’m merely caught up in an unfortunate situation. Personally I just hope that the schism gets resolved. This division does nothing but endanger the faithful by filling them with doubt and confusion.

My advice is to read the book of Revelation, and foremost the part between chapter 12 to 18 predicting the fact that the Church (bride of Christ) will be given the wings of the great eagle (the Byzantine one) to hide her from the world (= in the wilderness) while an unfaithful bride will sit like a queen, sleep with all the kings of the earth, add impurities in her chalice, dress herself with the imperial scarlet and purple garments and say in her heart "I am not a widow (of Christ) I will never mourn (I will never err)". And then listen to what the voice from heaven tells to the people of God within that Church. Kyrie eleison.

Unless it is dogma it can be corrected. Yes, a contradiction means two opposing things, like square circles. JPII uses theological language and FS uses colloquial language which is imprecise. The “expression” of a doctrine is also not above clarification. Marriage is an institution made by God and raised to a Sacrament by our Lord. Teaching about such important relationships is not the place for “sloppy” language. It will be corrected to maintain continuity of Church teaching.

Abuse has nothing to do with religion or the Church. It has to do with authority. The door is open the moment an adult is in charge of minors in an authority position without strong oversight. There have been plenty of abuse schandals with teachers, within the scouting, in English boarding schools, among tennis coaches, inside families. You name it. On my own school there were teachers that had a reputation to be a little too fond of pretty girls. The main difference is that priest is not a normal job. A teacher that is too suspicious can be fired or be advised strongly to quit. Schools nearby can be warned silently not to hire this guy. That is not so easy with priests. A priest has to be laicised and that is something that is not that easy to hide. And they more or less run their own little shop. How often does the bishop do surprise inspections? Things can go on for a long time before anything comes out. And that assumes that the bishop doesn't actively try to cover up schandal.

Wow! Great video Brian! It was nice to see you get emotional for a change instead of just intellectualizing this issue! My take away from all this is that we must be coming very close to some pivotal point in salvation history because “the Gates of Hell” seem ready to burst open an unleash a terrible avalanche of evil upon mankind. We must repent and pray and sacrifice and do penance to mitigate this evil, but above all, we must trust in Jesus and remember that He has already won the battle against Satan and his minions!

I left the Church when my second child was born so my second and third were baptized in the Presbyterian church. My firstborn was baptized Catholic. I left for about 10 years. I came back to the Church after some sessions with a priest and a Confession. I'll be honest. All of this insanity in the Church is really causing me to rethink being Catholic. I love the Blessed Mother and the Eucharist. But I just don't know if I can believe in the powers that be in Rome. It's so corrupt. I don't want to be apart of that. I'm struggling and there has to be others like me out there.
