almost 8 years ago i went to the shelter to adopt a dachshund. the staff told me that he is bonded with another dog. well you cannot seperate a bonded pair, can you? enter: a massive carne corso. i thought there is no way i can handle such a dog. and yet i gave it a shot. turns out maus, the carne corso, was the most gentle and goofy dog i have ever met. i loved them both to pieces. they both died in october two weeks apart. we had to put maus to sleep because of cancer. two weeks later, worscht, the dachshund died in his sleep. i think he died of a broken heart. last week we brought home another odd bonded couple. teddy, a rotti-pyrenees mix and fussel, a west highland terrier. my carne corso experience was totally positive. but i know it doesnt always go this way.

My boy Vader is almost 2 and we socialized the hell out of him. Probably meeting between 400-500 people in the first week we had him. He still grew up to be aggressive towards other intact dogs and some people. That’s just who he is

Yeah it’s always a lottery when it comes to temperament, to some extent. But (might not apply to you but is really important to say), there is such a thing as TOO much during the socialisation window. 400-500 people in a week with a new puppy is rarely a good idea (though may have been ideal for yours, so please don’t take this as an insult).

I trust my boy Virbius if he don't like you i don't like you either. If he don't want you in my yard or house. You have to bounce he picks up on cues we can't.

Luck of the draw. Two intact males of most breeds are always likely to be iffy. Even neutered dogs tend to get aggressive among themselves. My brother has had a boarding kennels for years and he finds there's trouble between dogs who are usually fine with each other when an intact male is around. He separates the intact ones and monitors them all more carefully when they have their playtimes.

My Corso is great with other dogs, even little ones, we can take her anywhere and have her off leash without stress. She simply ignores people when she's out yet is very fierce when protecting the house. I feel incredibly lucky with her temperament.

My 10 months old Corso is interesting case. I'm teaching him to ignore most of other dogs but in the same time we often meet neighbours with their dogs and in that case i allow to make "firnds" with the other dogs. We live in an apartament building so the common choices are small breeds such as Shi-tzu, one Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and few French bulldogs and small mixed breeds. Now... My dog is great and gentle with them - he knows that he is bigger - and those small dogs are allways happy to see him. When my dog is around our neighbours dogs i have to watch out for stranger dogs because he is very protective about his little buddies. For example few days ago i was talking with our neighbour and our dogs were doing their stuff around us when i heard my dog growls. He spoted stranger GSD and my Corso immediately went into full sentry mode, stepped in front of Shi-tsu and he positioned himself to separate his little friend from potential danger.

That's seems typical of Corsos, it's a lovely trait. My Corso is tolerant with other dogs and can be off leash with little dogs. She acts like God's police - she moves in and protects the victim with her body when there's a fight. She doesn't fight but she will body slam. One day our Boxer jumped out of the window after a dog. My girl caught her and pinned her down until we got there - amazing.

My one Corso loves our cat. They sleep together. He's so sweet with her. She plays with him, bits him and he lays still with a sweet smile on his face.

Mine and my friends Cane Corso is just a puppy, but we’ve been socialising him and hes absolutely perfect with other dogs. He sits and just wags his tail at smaller dogs and puppies, and then with bigger dogs (hes only 5 months old and still training) he will match their energy and want to play and can play a bit rougher. He gets 2 45-90 minute walks a day as he’ll tear the house up bounding around but after each one he just snoozes away

Love the vids keep em coming. My Cane Corso's get mobbed every time we go out... They love the attention, I'm not a big fan of it but I got to get them out at least 2-3 times a week for the socialization.

Wow. My girl has had zero interest in people when she's out and that seems typical of the breed. She just slides away when ppl try to pet her. Not friendly, not aggressive.

My 7 month corso was and still being socialized. He’s good with medium to large dogs. Just smalls dogs that particularly bark at him he doesn’t not like.

My Corso loves other dogs and matches their energy very well. She can play hard or be really careful. They use her at her doggy daycare to introduce dogs into the kennel and find what their energy levels are. Human strangers she a little more wary of but if you don't want that then don't a Corso.

When I investigated day care they wouldn't let me see what they did. Odd and we didn't go, she's also fine with other dogs. Great breed so long as you put the time in and are calm leaders. Free-range is simply dangerous, I see so many 10-month Corso's up for rehoming because they say they don't have the time.

Puppies are very different to mature dogs - very rambunctious- far too big to knock little ones around. The big dogs are likely to keep it in line. It's good to crate them close to get used to each other. When the Corso is grown, he's likely to take the little one under his wing. I'm curious - is it starting to go well?

This is hugely generalized, every corso is unlike another, even in the same litter. I know from not only from breeding outstanding litters to training so many from all types of families, celebs, professional athletes, expensive Corsos and from backyard breeders. Are they good with other dogs, maybe is the best answer.

Beautiful dogs. It's a shame Americans crop and dock (that is, mutilate) these animals. Americans can f---- anything up (I know, I am one of them and I have to live among them, at least for now).
