The Guide elaborates on the techniques used on the show. The examples given in the kzread.infoUgkxECnmSvBSv_NGWx4_ChD73pF3NYZwI2F3 are helpful and some of the techniques suggested very useful. One such technique/tool suggested was the lure stick to encourage a small dog to keep up with the heel command. I have a small dog who lags behind smelling any and everything and find it hard to keep bending over while walking to his level. The lure stick is great also for another dogs focus and sprinting at anything that catches her eye. The stories about different dogs, their different temperaments, have been helpful, especially Lulu's: After reading about Lulu's challenges I felt relief concerning one of my rescues that I have had for 10 years. Over many years I have checked out many training books from the library, watched different shows, DVDS, bought training books, taken lessons and this book is the best by far! Kindness, patience and perseverance works.

A lot of people are "anti- tail cropping". I know I used to be. But after owning my first cane corso for 8 years now (no tail cropped), I've decided that the breed kinda needs tail cropping. Our baby wags her tail so hard that it hits the edges of counters and doorways to the point where its now permanently injured her tail. And she can't help wagging her tail! 😭 ...so she wags and wags when shes happy, hitting her tail until her blood is on the walls and surfaces. Sometimes she gets infections on her tail and we regularly have to take her to the vet for it. If you are thinking about getting a Cane Corso, I highly suggest tail cropping. It may save your pupper a lot of pain and infections.

The so called "cruelty" breeders claim - after brainwashing groups of pet lovers - is nothing but an excuse to lower their costs and increase their profits. Tails should be docked at min age which would mean breeders had to pay for as at that age the puppies are not ready for their new home. Same goes for ears, some breeds aren't that easy to sell, and puppies may move to their new home at the age of 3,5 months, some at 5 or even 6. Ears must be cropped at the age of 3 months, give or take and depending the breed. A Jack Russell, bought one nearly four years back, and at the age of 2,5 months, came at our home with full tail. Didn't see the dog before coming at home as I've bought him over the phone and my wife picked it up. I was so mad.....but couldn't do anything about it. Lesson learned, you want something done, do it your self ! As for the cruelty, I prefer to be called cruel but visually enjoy the dog I paid for with a serious amount of cash which I've worked for !!!

Our girl is 95 lbs at 18 months. Best breed we have ever had. Keeping her leaner to help not develop any hip dysplasia or joint problems (which can be a problem for bigger breeds) and keeping her active . She’s amazing and loving. Loves kids and dogs all sizes. Definitely protective and let’s us know when anyone’s approaching house and it’s a scary bark. Occasionally she has barked at stop lights from the car at people standing on the corner if they have hoodies on or masks. Won’t have another breed in our house. Training SUPER important as they are strong as hell and have high prey drive. Pray for the squirrels and bunnies in our yard! Super smart too

THANK YOU! I thought my pit bull was just being .....a pit bull! He goes in the car with me so much but when we see someone with the mask and hoodie or unfortunately carrying lots of bags (the homeless) he can go crazy! There is also a reaction to people (usually men) who walk NOT NORMALLY....He senses something different about them and doesn't like it.

The book kzread.infoUgkxfKlzfzw0sMZ_RgZNzMeOPu6d4b5i5XWl has his training methods from both the show and new tricks i had not heard until i got the book. Simple dog psychology and pointers to make the methods stick. Great insight to the thinking of dogs. There is so much more we know now about our dogs. Fear in training no longer apply. I cannot say enough about this book and it's author.

I am so happy I decided to get a Corso. My husband is severely disabled & bedridden. I have severe social anxiety and I have always had a irrational fear of being attacked or robbed when I was out. I was terrified to go out in public. My husband used to train big breeds years back. He also used to work with the pita at the spca to try and get them to be able to be adopted. So my husband had suggested we get a Corso because they’re loveable but also not scared of anything. My husband was able to help me train him the right way and it was a breeze! So easy to train and he’s the best boy for sure. I take him everywhere with me and when we are out, men don’t even look my way unless it’s to comment on how beautiful he is. Seriously the best decision I’ve made, considering I have to do almost everything by myself while I’m out of the house. I have a gun, but I’m a lot less likely to need it with having him as the detergent. He is the sweetest gentle giant with me and all kids. If I’m having an anxiety attack or anything he just comes up to me and just snuggles with me until I feel better. He’s just amazing!

These are some serious health issues. If your fear of men, fear of going outside, and social anxiety are not genetically related, you should get therapy too. Remember that as life goes on and you get older, more trauma and more problems will surface in your life. It's better to not allow new problems to compile with the old and current problems. Either way, I wish you and your husband a healthy recovery, and salute to your Corso for loving you.

I have one. I worked at a dog kennel before I was old enough to drive feeding, cleaning all breeds, and training setters and pointers to hunt quail and woodcock. During that time the only dog that ever bit me was was a German Shepherd. I've had dogs all my life and at age 58 my Cane Corso has reached 7 years old. He is the most loving dog I've ever had, so loving in fact that he is a therapy dog for the local nursing home. He loves children and it takes forever for my wife and I to walk down the beach as he wants to greet every child he sees. I trust him much more than a German Shepherd. He has never acted aggressive to a person but I socialized him with long walks in the park as I would ANY dog. Mine does not slobber and is a pure bred from Pennsylvania. If you are scared of dogs then don't get one. You need to be serious about training and socializing as with any dog. I also took him through obedience 1,2, and AKC Good Citizenship. He is everyone's best friend.

@@NYC_Goody I trust him more than any German Shepard. As I said above I have always owned dogs, worked at a kennel for a few years as a kid and volunteered at the local humane society in the past where I mostly walked the large untrained dogs as they were harder to handle. If you like a certain breed that's great for you, not everyone likes the same cars either. Every breed has good and bad individuals and when anyone talks about the characteristics of a breed its speaking in generalities. To me a lot of the individual dog's behavior is a reflection of how much time and effort the owner put in.

@@beardedmaestro9689 I drove to Lancaster PA to buy mine from an Amish farmer with the last name of King. When we drove up the parents were off to one side and growled and barked a warning. When the farmer Mr King walked out of the barn both dogs were instantly quiet and watched. Once they realized that he was fine with us being there both dogs started to whine and wanted to be petted. Our pup was in the horse barn and walked out with the farmer. He was calm and friendly. I don't want a dog that would act mean, just let me know someone is there and then be quiet. If you decide to buy one in my opinion you should interact with the parents and see their personality, ask about any genetic issues, accept that you are making a 10 - 12 year commitment, and plan for a lot of personal time to socialize the young dog and attend training classes. The more positive interactions the dog has with strangers as a pup and young dog the easier things will be as they are naturally suspicious of anything different. Take your time and I wish you well.

New to the channel, after over 5 facades with other breeds, a CC is in my shortlist. Not a pup but more like a junior, 6 to 8 months. I agree with the standards, preferably if on the + side, character though is my top priority. If you enjoy challenging dog breeds, you need to try the Caucasian shepherd, aka Caucasian ovcharca. Not the new bloods that are similar to the Yugoslavian Sarplaninats. The old aboriginal bloods. Excellent dogs with very high intelligence, and unique personalities. They need to understand why they must obey and execute commands. This is why I said challenging, it takes a serious professional to work with them but the results are truly amazing. Not for novice owners, same I expect the CC are. The short hair of the CC, and if similar character to the CO, for me would be ideal. Thank you for sharing and looking forward for a new vid.

@mathew azzopard, I have a Caucasian, 4 yrs, 2 months, 200lbs, extremely aggressive towards people, other animals, a pain in the ass to own, he's very high maintenance...now it's June, so may/june Ivan is shedding so his hair is everywhere! a very stubborn breed, intelligent but stubborn! he barks alot. Ivan has to be put up when I have friends/family come over, he accepts no one but myself...just a very hard, challenging breed to own, fo sho!...I do like the Cane Corso's.

If I’m not mistaken and I’ve done a lot of digging on the internet, the Italian standard is 100-130 for males and the height around 27-29 inches. Modern tales and akc standards are based on showmanship. If I’m also not mistaken the akc almost declassified the American modern standard of the cane corso. I’ve had my boy max for 10 years now and he was the runt and he’s a little over 100 pounds, 27 in but he’s strong and as quick as he was at 1 years old. He’s a very firm function dog and he’s pretty amazing. I only hope he outlived his expectations.

There’s a guy who has a Cane Corso dog . He had recently added a puppy . So there’s lots of videos about puppues and training. The oldest is named Brice Wayne. That is the best behaved Cane Corso I’ve ever seen. This guys videos are awesome on how to train and socialize a Cane Corso, and just live with this breed . They do live videos taking Bruce Wayne out in public, to malls, shopping centers, parks etc. Dog is just amazing. And his wife handles the dog too and he emphasizes that this is very important that other family members be able to handle the dog and that they respect them too. Jason Corey is the name of the KZread channel. Or you can search for Bruce Wayne Cane Corso on KZread. I’ve been researching this breed for a while and I really like this guy Jason’s approach. His dog is calm, well behaved, attentive but definitely not aggressive, not timid, curious but not pushy and looks to his owner for instructions when he’s uncertain what he’s supposed to do. . Good luck!

Their coats…whew! Not like a Shepherd, lol! The best attribute, they need exercise, yet are chill in the home, after. We had a saying that, our Shepkita Max, pouted, unless engaged. Yea I have owned Dobes for just over 20 years and have been looking at Cane Corso's as well. I was a genius and tried getting a dobe pup when I have 3 kids under 7. It was my 4th Dobe and all the previous were always great with kids however weren't raised in the same house. So I didn't think it would be issue at all and was I ever wrong. Unfortunately and for reasons unknown she just did not trust the little ones and would constantly growl if she was laying down or relaxing and they would approach to pet her. She nipped my son in face a couple times and although she didn't break skin I was forced to give her up. Just too much worry. It was the oddest thing, all other times if she was on her feet she loved the kids and would play so great with them but when she got lying down and in those moods she didn't want them anywhere near her, and the kids were so good with her too, and respected her space 99.9% of the time. It's been a month since I gave her back and still am broken hearted. I had wanted another Dobe since my last one died about 5 years ago and finally found what I thought was the perfect pup (she was the show dog of the show litter).Anyway now I have to wait atleast 5 more years till my kids are bigger before I dare try again. I only had the pup for 10-11 months. She was 90lbs when I gave her up which was huge for female dobe. I really like the look of the Cane Corso's though but not sure if I could ever buy another dog that wasn't Doberman. I just love those dogs so much and pains me so badly I have to wait. Love German Shepherds to but have never owned one.

Man I feel you. I get nothing out of a German Shepard or a malinoise. But the presence of a mastiff/Molossus type breed is majestic. Their look is intimidating and when they freeze and stare it's over. Not everyone can own one. They don't accept an unstable household or people. "Dogs bow down to the Molossus as cats bow down to the Lion" I have a Fila de São Miguel myself. Never want anything else but mastiff type breeds. Life changing animals. Not for everyone. You mentioned the expressionless look of the Corso, my boy is 15mos old and still stares. When family and friends initially met him, almost all of them commented on his staring. To this day he does it with me, however I believe I understand why they stare. In testing him by intentionally changing my demeanor from horse play to aggression. He instantly recognizes the change, when he does, that’s when he stares. I believe he’s actually assessing the change and is waiting for me to remain at this level, go to an elevated level, or a return to norm.

In the past, the Cane Corso was truly versatile: hunting dog, war dog, fighting dog against bears and cats as well as a guardian who watched over the ancient farms. The female is the American Bulldog mix and at 6.5 months and almost 100 lbs. When they both drink there are streams of water and drool when they pick their heads up from the bowl and trails across the floor lol. But other than that they don't drool much. They have big droopy lips but not like say a boerboel. They do have working front dew claws and will hook you while your running and multiple extra toes on each foot. We call them the gargoyles b/c they sit and watch everything staying stark still. The male has crazy orange eyes that are really freaky but beautiful. My biggest take away from owning one is you have to have the room, you have to have the patience and an obvious cliche you have to be the alpha, you have to be stern. These are big dogs trust me a little discipline doesn’t hurt them. We forget before we made them companions they ran in packs.

advice please, a cane Corso was abandoned up by my home in the mountains. people were of course terrified of her rightly so with the looks and breed. 2 months we spent trying to get an accurate location of her just people saying they seen her. well I got eyes on her and she is starving. I caught her and what an angel! very loving I am taking her recovery very slow on food and water intake as to not make her sick. my daughter and her family have taken her. but we have no clue what her triggers are or what actually led her to be abandoned. we did try to find her owners during our time of trying to catch her. I just wonder if you have advice on what should be done to make sure she is safe with the family so that she can have a forever home and always be safe and loved. right now she is super gentle and loving and loves the kids. she is definitely a women's dog as she takes to women better. the goal is to make sure she is safe with the family for her safety as well as the families. they are 100% devoted to insuring her life with them.

Best dog I ever had was my CC. He was a dry mouth, never a drop of drool. Training them is the utmost importance but I highly recommend never protection train them, they are already there and will protect your family. Got mine when we had a 1 1/2 year old and a new born. My 1 1/2 year old could crawl over and take his chew toys away from him and he'd allow it and wait for the child to be done with it. Slept in our room with us except when I traveled. Then he'd sleep at the top of the stairs to protect everyone upstairs at night. Never trained him to do this, it was natural to him. He would not allow any stranger in our house when I was gone and my wife and kids were home alone. If I was home, everyone was welcome but men he didn't know were not allowed to touch him. I used to be heavily involved w/ the breed when they were still Rare Breed and not AKC. I build the original CCF website.

Normally the breed standard from what I know with weight is around 150 pounds maybe more or less but definitely in the hundreds. I have a cane corso myself he is turning two July 1st 2022 and he is amazing with kids wicked smart trained in Russian and English this was before the whole Russia and Ukrain thing but overall great breed I personally wouldn’t recommend mainly because it’s a lot to handle especially don’t get one if your a first time dog owner so that’s basically it and he is pure bred so he drools ALOT but that’s all I have to say about the breed and very overprotective btw any whom if your reading this enjoy your day!

Usually the larger ones are bred with Neapolitan mastiffs. That’s why they are larger and have more jowl and a less tight face. I’d take a working old world cane any day over a larger one. The breed standard is actually like 125lbs-130 for males. And like 120 max for females. These dogs are much more athletic and have less health problems like hip and joint issues.

Yes I have a Cane Corso. Best dog we’ve ever had. We also have a Rottweiler and a Newfoundland. But Drago is the best guardian dog we’ve ever had when I am outside he is always knows where I’m at close by. Yes they do take a lot of training and you have to be firm with them. Mine have the long ears in the crop tail I chose not to do the ears. We raise Dobermans for 15 years when I was younger and we always crop the earrings on them but I just wasn’t feeling it. I know when the neighbor shoots target practice over a ways at his property ours is all fenced in he runs if he hears a shooting he goes right to it they are not afraid of anything I have never found anything he’s afraid of except for the slippery wood floors so I had to put carpets down lol. Great breed but no they’re not for everyone. And I love your videos keep up the good work.❤❤

Great video. Certainly not a breed for first time dog owner or for someone who doesn’t truly understand what it takes to appropriately own and handle a dog of this size and personality.

I was given one and she's my first dog personally. she's a good pup! But I would agree, the only reason I accepted her is because my aunt rescues pits. So I have a little experience with big and unsure dogs.

I live in Minnesota and would love one of these beautiful dogs, but with it being cold up here from November until late March makes it hard for how active you need to be with them.

I can tell you that this breed doesn’t mind the cold at all. Playing in the snow with my kids is something my dog loves to do when it eventually snows here in NC. I’m a small breeder in NC if you are interested
