Arduino 3D scanner IR distance sensor

Ғылым және технология

Best & Fast Prototype ($2 for 10 PCBs): www.jlcpcb.com
Thanks to JLCPCB for supporting this video.
This is an example of 3D scanner using IR distance sensor and step motors. As you can see in the video, the precision is not that good, but it is a perfect tutorial for learning purposes. To improve the precision you could: place tape over the IR led and make a small hole; use different better sensor; add better lead screw; use more measurements than 40; use more steps.

thank you !! your site with the description of how to convert a 'point cloud' file to STL has solved me a big problem on how to make a 2.5D scanner to be connected to a CNC milling cutter to scan raised objects. Obviously I use a sensor based on laser triangulation that costs about $ 50 but has an accuracy of 0.1 mm :) which you could also use in your system to make it extremely accurate in the detection of points. Anyway thanks again !!

Beautiful job, dude! Really nice! 😀 For a lot of applications that is more than enough. For example, if you need to make a support for something, you can scan it and use the 3d file to project the support. 😉

hello first of all. I have to ask, do we need to combine the step and activating connections in the motor of the z axis? if it is not needed, the z axis does not move in this regard. As the second point, I completed the connections completely as you mentioned, but it starts to work automatically when power is supplied. The d2 connection and the 5 v connection seem to be ineffective. How can we solve this? My third problem is that the sensor performs the scan, but the resulting model is very different from the real thing. I would be grateful if you help.
