It's refreshing to see someone who pays attention to load weights on a rig! Nice vid.

I was looking for 'if anyone has trailered behind the Arctic Fox 990', and found this video. LOVE that hitch extension...personally, my wife and I were simply looking for a 'hitch extension' to trailer two Indian Scout bikes behind...no biggie...maybe 2k in weight, trailer included. The truck...OUCH! I was lucky enough a few years ago, to find the 'perfect truck'...quite by accident. We have a 40-ft 5th wheel, and needed a better truck than we had, but I didn't want to go and drop $50k or more on a new one. Believe it or not, EVERY ONCE AND A WHILE, Craigslist pays off! Found a 2007 Chevy 2500HD with an LS 6.0 (LY6 RPO...370-hp, 390-ft lbs torque)...LIKE NEW! You'd swear it just sold yesterday. Found out, the owner bought it, then went through a divorce, then couldn't afford to drive it, then parked it in his dad's barn...perfect truck with nothing but 'years on it'...he still needed money, and we got it for less than $8k! New tires, set of front spindle assemblies, new shocks, oil and fluids change and top-off...and of all things, the friggin intake (plastic) had cracked...dryed up...had to install a new one. Tires were dry rotted, too...so got some G-rated Nittos...4,100 lbs rated, each. Truck came with this HUGE frame under it (looks like a class 4 truck frame), rated 9,200 GVWR, single-tire...but the springs weren't quite 'up to par', so added a set of Airlift 5k air bags (American made, lifetime warranty on bags, 5,000 lb capacity...and can do EVERY BIT OF IT!)...get the Airbags, forget all the other suspension junk! Sported a 15k 5th wheel hitch, until we dropped the AF 990 in...30-psi of air, couldn't even tell the truck had a bag of groceries in the back! (then again, you can put 3-tons on the bed, and air up to level out easily, too!).

Really nice setup, thanks for all the pertinent info. Arctic fox Campers are incredibly well built but they are not transparent on the true weight scenarios. Those options to the camper really tally up. Most people with any slide A/F with single axle 350s are significantly over weight. At the end of the day, one has to weigh out that versus the safety of the family inside going down the road. Your dually is the right machine for the task. More people like you need to be as responsible going down the road. Steve

Arctic Fox for some reason decides to hide weight in their "options" which are not options because they're standard on virtually all of their campers. So when I bought mine, and was doing research, I found that the weight they post on the sticker, and the actual weight of the camper are several hundred pounds apart. BTW this camper looks awesome on the Ford. Perfect fit!

Great and informative video, thank you. AF's are heavy. I run an AF1140 on a 2020 F350 dually and pull a RZR on a single axle trailer. I average 11 mpg.

Do you have the 5th wheel set up in the back?

Will airbags be a part of that setup someday or is there no need? You said it towed phenomenally. So maybe it doesn’t need them? Looks good!

I just came across your excellent video here. Having been a while, what is your evaluation of the setup now? Any changes or further evaluation? Thanks much!

I’m getting a 2021 F450. I was looking at the Torklift “Cannon 42” hitch extender” that works with the stock Ford hitch. In your opinion, do you see any concerns with that setup vs the Torklift set up that you have? BTW, I’ll have a host Mammoth on the truck and will be pulling an enclosed trailer with a Can Am X3 inside of it (2 seater)

Throw down some coin and get the torklift extendable steps. They are amazing.

Are you over the 14,000 lb gvwr for the f350? The diesel is way heavier that the 7.3 Godzilla.

Semper Fi….Love your setup….retired from the Corps in 2014….looking to get a setup similar to yours over the course of the next couple of years. Did you consider a F450 vs the F350?

Are you using a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood to gain a little more height under the camper and over the bed rails? I have a 2022 F450 and a Artic Fox 1140. There’s not much more than about an inch and a quarter between the overhang of the truck camper and the top of my bed rail rather scary lose..
