Hi, Blane perfect video for me I have a 1980 Jag ran great for about an hour and then no spark. Did the ohm test on the stator and got nothing on ignition wires. Only 3 ohms between the 2 female plugs

I don't know the specific ohm readings for that sled but some of those late 70's early 80's models have a stator that has a low ohm reading ignition coil like 2.7-3 range so it may actually be ohming out ok.

So following your test on the three wire plug in the same order you tested I got 1187, 1173 and 14.4 ohms. Sled will run but won’t rev above 3000rpm. Do you think my high speed coil is bad?

ya, it is a bit of a different stator design. I've seen people measure them and think their stator is bad...but it is just this style stator measuring 1100 or so ohms.

I have an odd problem and thinking the low speed coil on the new stator could causing it. Readings at room temp are 1040 ohms. Once it's at operating temp I'm getting above 1400 ohms. Once its warm if the rpms get below 1500 ish or you shut it off and restart it will drop a cylinder and won't rev up. Just sputter at idle. But then will randomly come back to life and run perfect. Thoughts

Room temp ohms should be in the 1150 range.

I have same stator. Low speed coil is 1.223 ohms, high speed is 15.2 ohms, installed new aftermarket CDI, new ignition coil, checked continuity on connectors, jumped non-yellow wires but still no spark. What do you think could be a problem?

It's supposed to be in the 1250 ohm range for the ignition coil. Depending on the year of sled: If it's older you use the jumper wire. New sled you don't use the jumper wire.

my old 75 scorpion uses the same Stator style, but 11 wires (instead of 7). 2 blue (1 with a red strip) both go to individual external ignition coils and the rest all go to a plug 2 black 1 brown 2 green (1 with a black stripe) and 2 yellow (1 with a green and black stripe) the video quility is low wish i could understand what all is going on, (all the colors and what they all do.) It ran fine, i had it running then turned it off and about 1 minute later i tried to pull start it to test it out for the first time on snow outside my garage and no spark to the plugs...

Could be stator, key switch, wiring harness short, coils, cdi ect..it's a 1975 there are lots of things that could be causing it.

is it possible to use another cdi plugs dont match can ya cut and wire it up to work???

Typically the answer is no.

If the high speed coil is bad will the machine not do anything but idle?

Depends on how bad the coil is..sometimes it'll only idle. Sometimes it'll rev up a little bit. Sometimes it'll rev up a lot but just not the last 500-100rpms. Sometimes it'll run perfectly fine for 5-15 minutes and then it won't rev all the way up.

I have same startor and mine reads male to right female 12.74 and male to left female reed's 12.90 2 female reed's 16.7 and 2 yellow reed's 4 and ground reed's is 4 just want to make sure thus is a good one before I put it back in thank you so much

I'm guessing the 12.74 is actually 1274 ohms which is right around where it should be.

so its a 440 zl liquid cooled on that stator the 3 plug and 4 plug and 1 single blk wire

I have the same stator and the only reading I can get is the ground continuity. Is my stator f'd or can it be fixed.

BlaineDP ....i just installed the stator I bought and my machine idled for an hr and then 1 hr later I drove around on it for approx 2 hrs starting and stopping it here and there, using the choke. (Kill switch no good). Now I can't get spark again and the stator tests no ohms. Wiring is fine, plugs r brand new, coil and plug wires brand new, and CDI brand new. Any tips???

Microfiche says it is.

99.9% of the time the lighting coil does not go bad on a stator....unless there is damage to it. You need to check the voltage coming out of the stator. I have a video showing how to do that. You may have a bad regulator.

I've got an 97' zl 440 that ive installed an new AC regulator, ive replacted the bulbs and my lights will till cut in and out? Ive installed new grounds from the motor to the chassis and even tried grounding the brown wire off the harness. There are 0 broken wires all the connections had dio grease in them. I'm thinking of replacing the lighting coil but id like to know if I have to pull the stator to do so or can I just pull the flywheel and replace the oil?
