Arctic adventure to the Russia border! (Norway & Sweden)

Join me for a travel adventure to the Arctic as I visit: Bodø, Kirkenes, Riksgränsen and Jukkasjärvi (plus some other transit points around northern Norway and Sweden). Including a very interesting (and kinda creepy) visit to the Norway-Russia border. I recorded the behind-the-scenes of my travels around the region while doing a number of other projects, most notably a series of flying videos with Widerøe for Flightradar24, plus a couple of articles about the hotels in Sweden. The result is a travelogue that I hope will give you some insight into what it's like to travel around Arctic Scandinavia, and show you some of what goes into my Flightradar24 videos too. There's lots of gorgeous snowy views. Plus just some good old-fashioned fun cruising around on buses, trains and planes. Oh and a pre-production electric snowmobile! Stay tuned until the end for that.
What you'll see:

-Stockholm Arlanda Airport
-Oslo Gardermoen Airport

33:37 my favorite thing about Electric Vehicles isn’t the acceleration advantages, but it is the most fun part 🙃 I like the silence allowing for you to hear other aspects on a variety of Electric Vehicles. The sound of the snowmobile tracks in snow❄️, the sound of ATV sand tires in dunes🏍, a boat on top of the water🚤, and of course the sound of a propeller on a plane🛫🚁 only possible from being Electric🔋Truly the sound of silence🎶🤫🔇😅

33:11 I actually love the smell of ICE ATV’s but you’re right about having your hair smell like fumes. Being electric and used for mainly transportation, it’s good for emissions and there’s the benefit of instant acceleration 👍

Loved this video as always. That snowmobile ride looked really fun. I don't blame you for only getting 3 hours of sleep in the ice room. I would probably have slept the same if not less especially with that demonic ice creature in the other room. That was scary. 😱

@@airedition yeah, that’s very unfortunate, the least I can do (or we as the viewers can do) is sharing the video and spreading the words. But still, it’s totally understandable that this workload you have doesn’t correspond to the viewer count. But also, mostly, when your about to give up and stop, the breakthrough comes :)

Thanks for the video, Gabe! I think the Norway-Russia borders are closed now. With just a tourist visa u cannot cross the border i guess. (But maybe things have changed) And I understand this feeling at Norway-Russia border. When you come to Russia, even if you are Russian citizen, the border staff/passport control staff are very unfriendly and rude.

Yeah interesting. What about cargo, trucks, that kind of thing - seems like maybe that kind of traffic might pass through? I noticed it seemed active with staff (though I didn't see anyone actively cross).

@@airedition I doubled checked the info. So u can actually cross the border but it´s only allowed for people with a Working visa or Student visa etc. I didn´t find any useful information about Cargo trucks. A lot of things are sanctioned on both sides, so I don't think there's a lot of cargo transport in this region. Now the main hubs for Russian cargo and air travel are Istanbul and Dubai. I just can't imagine how much money Turkish Airlines makes from the VKO-IST route. 😅
