52hrs from London to Arctic Circle by Sleeper Train

Download Opera for free: opr.as/Opera-browser-trek-trendy
Today i'm taking a sleeper train to the Arctic Circle! Starting in London i'll travel through the channel tunnel by Eurostar to Belgium where i'll connect onto the ICE high speed train to Hamburg. From Hamburg we'll catch the Swedish sleeper train to Stockholm and from there, finally we'll take the 18 hour Norway express to the Arctic Circle. This will take us to one of the world's most northernly train stations, well into the Arctic Circle and as far North as I've ever been. I'll share with you my full experience, from the food, showering onboard, the beds and the overall cost.
0:00 - Intro
1:54 - Eurostar
4:51 - ICE train
8:18 - Swedish Sleeper train
13:49 - Norway Sleeper train
21:46 - The Cost

Happy Christmas to you as well... great trip. Those Swedish meatballs sound great. Your Dad's a hoot. A 'tad chilly' at the Artic Circle, in Norway!! Ha ha! You'll both be so used to being amongst the 'Frozen Chosen' having snowball fights, you could take turns jogging through London enjoying the toasty warm English winter in your swim shorts!! lol Or maybe the Opera could use a different kind of phantom! Two guys from a trip to Norway tossing snow across the stage. lol,, fun trip, with you both in spirit all the way!

I am 73. My Dad passed away on to new adventures in 1986. There are very few days when I do not think of him at some point through the day. Three years ago my ol' Mom went off to find my Dad when she had reached almost 97. Both my parents travelled a lot together and have likely seen more places than I have. Thanks for making this video for me to enjoy and be inspired. My son and I are talking about doing some travelling together. Likely it will be on our motorcycles this summer.

Remember the train rides up north as a kid probably around 1988. We were a family of six so I'm pretty sure it was a sleeper cabin with 4 beds, since we couldn't fit all six in one cabin. I was in one with my 3 year older sister and my mom and a random dude. My dad my older brother and older sister were in a different cabin. I loved that trip, besides the random dude being in our cabin, wished it was only us, and my mom didn't enjoy it as she got car sick (train sick?). The cabin we had looked like the other cabin you showed but probably only four beds instead of 6. We traveled to Boden I think and traveled by car or bus (can't remember) to the final destination Korpilombolo, my mom's birth place to visit my grandparents and some aunts and my uncle, as well as cousins. Thank you for making this video so I could go down memory lane!

I'm looking longingly at all that snow whilst sweltering in a hot Australian heatwave! I thought I noticed the back of your Dad's head during the early part of the video, and I am happy that he was along for the journey! I never realised that Lapland was part of Sweden nor just how close to the Arctic Circle Norway was, so this was educational for me. I'd love to make a similar trip myself one day however I won't be thinking of luxury as the trains were definitely not the Orient Express!I hope that you, Millie, your mum and your dad have lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year! Till next time take care.

Well Lapland stretches through two countries really, Sweden and Finland. One doesn`t realize how North Norway really is as it is still civilised and fairly close to parts of Europe which we don`t associate with snow and the arctics. Narvik is though the northenmost train station is still about 250 miles shy from the Nordkapp which is the northernmost point of the continental Europe at a latitude of 71 North. To give you an idea, if as an Aussie you wanted to go to the same latitude South you would sail to the Antarctic coast. The northernmost settlemnt in Norway which is inhabbited all year around (although winter population drops to around 30) is Ny - Alesund on the Spitsbergen island at a latitude of 78 North (that`s about the latitude of the McMurdo research station on Antarctica on the Southern hemisphere).

@@FrankyLon Northern Norway also counts as a part of Lapland, and so do indeed bits of Russia. It's a term for the region traditionally associated with the Sámi people by the southerners.

Beautiful station, hope you enjoyed the Belgian chocolate!thus far, a stellar trip. Was the German beer good? Your sleeping accommodations seemed pretty utilitarian as well as pricey. Stockholm is pretty. Glad there’s a dining car. I think the best part of this video is watching you and your dad enjoying yourselves!
