jamesguitarplayer1 Just practice arpeggios really really slowly, and focus on the movement of your right thumb :) start with easy chords played separately (that is arpeggios) and you'll develop speed and accuracy! Thanks for your words anyway, man :)

Some of the best bass covers on youtube, i was thinking about getting some of the new 2014 stock at Blakhart, is it worth the wait?
I was searching for Blakhart bass examples as I’m interested in their overall tone. The tone here is outstanding. It screams EMG and fresh strings, but I’m curious as to how much of that bright sound comes from the electronics, in your opinion.
but can u play the opening to running with the devil?
@StephenHideous

Sansamp VT Bass DI or Sansamp Bass Driver DI? (Live performance)
@StephenHideous
9 жыл бұрын
***** Live equipment varies a lot actually... All I can say is I use an Ashdown head, no effects, no pedals, just an old good quality compressor pedal :) used the second you asked about during my last gig in Switzerland by the way, but it was not mine.
How do you make your bass sound like that? It has a very percussive tone.
@StephenHideous
7 жыл бұрын
Hey man, it's a simple plug in thru Guitar Rig (it should be called '80's slap bass' but it was a while ago, so I am not that sure anymore. No other gears / effects were used at that time. EQ is roughly 5 LOWS 6/7 MIDS 8 HIGHS. Lots of compression
I’m naive for saying this, but I don’t know how this gets a thumbs down. Did you click on the wrong link? I think the tone helps the play through stand out. Phenomenal musicianship very well done. Cheers!
@StephenHideous
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much dude haha, yea the tone is really functional to the playing, as much as I understand people might find it too 'thin'. Cheers!!
how can you change easily the direction of the sweep picking with fingers? I am just able to do it upwards, but it seems imposible upwards
@StephenHideous
8 жыл бұрын
yeah bro, it's a bit tough on a bass, it takes a bit of practice. Suggest you get used to the spacing between forefinger and thumb and practice that :-)
@miguelfernandezmillan2829
8 жыл бұрын
what do you mean by spacing? sry, English isnt my mother tong
@StephenHideous

+Miguel Fernandez Millan the closer the distance between thumb and forefinger gets, the better you'll be able to sweep down and back up

mick17 Never actually thought about, will try that later on, man. Thanks for watching Mick :)
I love the tone you have in this one, may I ask how you get that bright, punchy sound out of your bass? I'm new to this but so far I have heard that play style as well as harder woods can have an effect on that. Looking forward to the next vid, cheers :)
@StephenHideous
8 жыл бұрын
+Tobias Ommer Well, just worked a lot on the EQ and overall compression. Used a special plug in called 80's SLAP BASS on Guitar Rig. Also I used brand new strings for this video. Maybe the Ebony fretboard might help out as well the body :) cheers, Tobias

That double jointed pinky tho. Here I am giving myself tendonitis on a 7 string bass and I'm cringing as i see how bent your left wrist is. But your playing is inspirational
@StephenHideous
9 жыл бұрын
Shane Hunt-Dusse Yes, some fingers got bent through time by playing but so far it feels ok, also because I always put myself in a position which feels comfortable and allows me not to strain my fingers and muscles. Thanks for your words btw!
Hey man, nice covers!! And I would like to know, what bands inspired you guys to create Hideous Divinity?
@StephenHideous
9 жыл бұрын
+VKDrummer Thanks for your words, man, but as for that question, you should ask Enrico ;) anyway, most important influences were Hate Eternal, Nile, Decapitated, Immolation and stuff like this!
what programs are you use to record and to get such a great sound without distortion ? btw i love to watch your covers, they're inspiration for me :D
@StephenHideous
10 жыл бұрын
Hey man, thanks a lot, really glad these covers prove inspiring stuff for you! I use Sonar with Guitar Rig - use a sound effect called '80's bass guitar slap', then the sound you hear pretty much comes from the bass and the new strings :)
Are there any tabs or an way i can find the positions to those sweeps :)? and again cool cover dude:)
@StephenHideous
9 жыл бұрын
FullMetalPlayThrough Hey man! Thanks, but no, there are no tabs, and I just improvised the sweeps, cause the actual bass line is slightly different. If you send me a private message to facebook.com/stefanofranceschinibassplayer I will explain what I do properly :)
