October 11th, 1998, Scott Parker concluded his flat track racing career by winning the Grand National Championship by 2 points at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, his 5th straight national championship.
To share the moment, honorary flag man, Willie G. Davidson waved the checkered flag and took the victory lap with Parker.

I was born in 1990. My best memories growing up are riding with family to Sedalia or OKC or Springfield and watching Scotty win races. Nobody did it like he did. I have a t shirt from his 1999 farewell tour hanging on the wall right behind me. Those were the days! Back at one of those old Sedalia races I remember this young guy won the race and signed my t shirt afterwards. Think his name was Mees. God I love flat track.
I am proud of what HD has done and what it will do in the future! So many people act like the future of the USA and H-D is over and if you feel that way you have already lost. I could have given up after 30 hospitalizations in 40 months and 6 major surgeries and over 2 feet of intestines taken out. Not to mention a blood disorder and blood clots with one in my heart that caused 2 stints to be placed in my heart. I could not golf any longer but I felt I could ride a bike as I did in my 20s so I bought my new 18 Fatboy 15 months ago and rode 11,700 miles. This spring I am making the trip to the museum in Milwaukee, a 7 hour trip from southeastern Indiana. Marty Porter Sr. Papa P & Bad Company my Fatboy! Let's get it on! Also it was 35 years since my last ride when I bought my new H-D
We sure miss Willy and actually caring about the brand and the owners.
Thumbs-UP #49 I am Monday late afternoon 22 April 2019! Scott Parker is the name I always speak first when talking Harley-Davidson racing. Chris Carr is spoken eventually because he is originally from Sacramento Ca. My helmet is painted to match the Harley-Davidson race colors of their era. My leathers will eventually.
If only Harley Davidson made a bike like this you could buy and ride. The public has been asking for a street legal XR750 flat track bike for 30 years. Instead they chose to trade on nostalgia and give us a whole line of nearly identical chrome dressed farm implements.

Boring! What about today? HD is fading away with history.

+Steve Bray Boring?! I watched them back then and they STILL inspire speed! Fade? Maybe to you. Never me.
