The architect cup was my first ever tournament and I actually got a win. I landed in a tree and stayed there the whole game until top 2. (I somehow got til 4th zone without moving.) the last guy was on height and was using an rpg. He jumped off and died to fall before the rocket hit me. I ended with 0 kills and a win :)

@@choukrihersi6335 nerfing defensive building was the best thing this game has ever done honestly. now to get into someones box you need 5 minutes of spare time 5 smgs and 0 ping. the strategies we have now to fight against defensive building are completely ping based and very time consuming.

It was actually so much fun, felt like it introduced a lot of new mechanic and thinking when it came to the game. Pretty sure scroll-wheel reset was revolutionized during this cup too.

One mechanic that could've been prominent in this meta is holding the edits. If you hold the edit on the wall, the opponent can't edit it. Could've been some form of defensive play.

I remember playing this, shit was trash, I trapped someone in his own cone by holding the edit so he couldn’t escape, I wish I still had the clip

@@abdulbyrd7902 but neither is defensive building. and theres no skilful way of effectively countering defensive building. the only thing you can do to combat it is spray with an smg or try and steal a wall. both of which are completely based on ping and luck. defensive building also makes fights that should of ended in a second last forever, it does this by rewarding the player who takes the most damage and gives them an unearned chance to heal up.

@@moon-pw1bi and what seperates a good player from a better player is the ability to finish the fight faster, if everyone could get in any box, then what’s the counter play? The point here is that everyone being able to edit everyone’s builds is less skillful than the alternative, it’s that simple. You can complain about defensive building but it’s more skillful than everyone just walking into everyone’s builds

Man I remember those old tournaments where you had to get multiple eliminations and really high placements to get any points. I genuinely remember getting 0 points in the Share the Love event. Hahaha these old formats sucked. It would be cool if you made a video on the solo showdown. Where you had 50 pub games to win as many games as you could and the top placing players got vbucks as a prize. I’m pretty sure Mitr0 and Aydan won their respective regions. It was in chapter 1 season 3/4.

One note about the editing you could sort of box up because if you were holding the edit they couldn’t edit it so I know in some of the team events that could be used to your advantage vs people expecting to be able to edit. Also saw my ign on the high scores list that was shown a couple times so that was sick. Awesome video!

I’m guessing no one actually tarps if it was moving zones and an alright lobby 😂 You just edit into the back of fronts and save mats

I loved this tournament until the very moment I found out that you could edit enemy structures. Just by chance, no one bothered to try it before I knew.

I love this idea, I can edit, but I cannot build for the life of me, so this would be a peak game mode for me.

Bro if they were to do this now they would have to give players a health buff there is no way you could even stop to heal🤣

Ultimately this was a pretty bad way to test it and if fortnite has taught epic (and us) anything it is that things do not turn out as expect - ie building. Five days wasn't enough for players to work out how to play in this manner or allow it to settle into a playstyle. Remember just build? Which went away after a few seasons.

3:40 back in the day during the plane meta i actually managed to get 20 points during the tournament. it was a sign of prestige in my group of friends. you kids nowadays only know earnings and scrims you wil never understand the thrill of this tournaments
