Snively’s ultimate fate in the Pre-Reboot Archie universe has got to be one of the most disturbing moments not just in the comic’s entire run, but of the entire franchise. Just… permanently trapped in an Animal Capsule under the watch of his maniacal uncle, slowly perishing in both body and mind. It’s honestly worse than OG Robotnik’s death in EndGame, because at least he was instantly atomised instead of being left to wither and rot in total agony.

I also feel that Agent Stone from the Sonic movie was loosely based on Snively in terms of being the right-hand man to Robotnik not so much personality since Snively would try to betray his uncle on a regular basis whereas Agent Stone is extremely loyal to Robotnik to the point of it seeming like he was in love with him which I think is the idea

Always thought an active relative to Dr. Robotnik would be nice, which is why I love Snively.

I noticed that in the original Sonic satam cartoon Charlie Adler gave Snively a slight British accent

Snivley is definitely my favourite villain who's played the role of right-hand man to Robotnik

That was another thing about Snively the fact that apart from being a snivelling coward who hated his uncle to the point of betraying him Snively was also extremely Vain since he was quite attached to his Blonde(Brown in Satam) hair before going bald with the exception of a few strands

It is funny that Snively was voiced by Charlie Adler in the original satam cartoon and had a personality akin to Starscream from Transformers since Charlie Adler Would voice Starscream in the live action Transformers movies

Very good coverage on the timeline! I watched the whole thing without even realizing it had been 28 minutes. It's really cool to see people who actually like Archie talking about the series.

This character is so well developed in the comics! Outstanding episode!

The SatAM pilot is a window into what the show looked like before the showrunners tuned the world to be darker to better differentiate it from the other series running concurrently. However I think the comic was based off of an even EARLIER iteration of SatAM, while it was still being conceptualized. As a result we can see some of those super early concepts that never even made it into the pilot. This also means the comic was stuck with trying to explain why things in the comic were different from the show. I suspect Snively and Cluck were either not in the plans for SatAM when the comic started, or the comic decided not to include them right away for some reason. Of course once the character of Snively was conceptualized, it was fairly easy for them to start including him in the comic with little explanation. As far as SatAM Snively's cancelled future goes, I believe one of the showrunners said the plan was to have Naugus help him rule, before eventually Robotnik comes back and kicks them out. Snively would end up working with the Freedom Fighters for a bit, though it wouldn't be permanent, IIRC. Some of those things ended up happening in the comics, could be coincidence, or they could have just used those unused ideas.

When you talked about the part where Snively assisted Eggman in capturing all of Knothole, it literally made me want to reread that arc. And then I forgot to finish this video afterwards.

Imagine if Snively (the Archie version) was voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz. That would be hilarious! 😂🤣🤣

Snively should be in the games. He is my favorite Eggman lackey, especially since he is just the Starscream of Sonic, which is an entertaining character type. Also, Ian Flynn has said that Snively would have come back eventually, but it wouldn't be for a while, so his defeat felt more conclusive and shocking.

Awesome video, really gives us all a nice look at Snively and what he was all about thought the Sonic series. I can't wait for the next character files.

12:34 This and when Sally told Eggman to retreat was really stupid. They try to do a quick redemption arc for Sally, and twice in a row had her stupidly not detain Eggman. And in the second time, also detain Snively. It would’ve worked better if Sally didn’t show Eggman the mercy of retreating. Or have Sally let Snively keep Eggman. She could’ve detained both, and it’s revealed later that what was detained wasn’t the real Snively. And he just used a robot duplicate to take his place.

I have.....mixed feelings towards Snively just like I have mixed feelings about Archie Sonic as a whole. On one hand, while I think Eggman is the kind of villain works best SOLO or with a very competent and threatening henchman at his side like Metal, Chaos or Shadow (hence why I hate Orbot and Cubot so much), Snively is the kind of dynamic that brings more....zest, by having a seemingly loyal and submissive family member who's actually scheming behind his back, and be his own man, just equally competent and intelligent and a threat to the good guys. On the other hand, I think they played the cycle of betrayal and groveling back to Robotnik/Eggman way too many times to the point of being almost a running gag, and no amount of "Oh, but Eggman loves to play along" bs can make me believe whe would stand for it for so long. One thing is Sonic and the Freedom Fighters, another thing is an active rival in his ranks. It just got tiresome and repetitive. Lastly, I reject the Super Genesis Wave continuity. It's dull, bland, tries WAY too hard to find a middle ground between SatAM and the games and it just comes across as corporate meddling, down to the nostalgia pandering. And making Snively just some random guy who simped for Eggman while feigning loyalty to GUN is not only boring, but ultimately lead nowhere. Who cares if he's planning to use every single superlaser in the world ? And in the end, all this lazily drawn-out "foreshadowing" went nowhere once again, once Archie Sonic ended. The only thing Genesis Wave Snively has in common with Walter White is being an egotistical bald small fry in the hands of bigger players, he just never got to find his Jessie or exploit his Hector. Nothing of value was lost.........And nothing of value was gained, because IDW sucks even more.

I've been thinking bout covering both Honey the Cat and Breezie in one episode since their main apperances was from one story arc.

Indeed he may have been his uncle's right-hand man but Robotnik never saw him and his equal hence why Snively developed a hatred towards his uncle in a similar vein to Starscream
