    This is very helpful to anyone looking to buy these, especially since a lot of those companies/organizations will be planning to use these for kids!

    Thanks for the video! I bought 120 of these and plan on using this mod. Academy has a 20 lb youth bow on sale right now for $6. They work great for these.

    Wow 6 bucks!? That almost beats the cost of even making your own from pvc. I hope they and the arrows work out for you. I've used mine several times since and although my mod has never failed, I did have one break the foam front portion off. It was easily fixed with some hot glue, but I would definitely recommend wearing face masks if you plan on shooting them at people just in case something fails. Thanks again for the feedback!

    Suggest adding some Loctite 243 (the older 242 version would work also) to keep the head from working its way lose from the shaft on accident. Its not glue so you can still unscrew the head if you need to but it shouldn't come lose simply due to use & vibration. Loctite 243 is that blue stuff you see on screws to keep them from coming undone on accident.

    Thanks for asking! That would probably be alright as long as you tag/link/cite that you borrowed it from me in whatever way is relevant in the format your planning on using(ie. tags on instagram, mention + description box youtube, etc). Where do you post or use your videos?

    bow weightage has a large thing to do with it as well, I believe the official licensed bows are either 10-15 lbs.

    You are correct that the high draw weights are harder on the arrow tips. Archery tag may have different bows available but the ones I have seen are about 25# which makes my bow a bit over the recommended but not much. Since the modification I have shot them through a 100# crossbow without incident so I would highly recommend doing it if you pick some of these up

    washers cost me 7 cents each at lowes. picked up the #10 (inside) 3/4 inch (outside) flat washers. glued them with the gold tip tip grip adhesive cause it was laying around. havent shot it yet, doing that tomorrow. but already feels way more solid.

    Which is the effective distance using this arrow and this bow?

  • @TheJunkernaut

    @TheJunkernaut

    5 жыл бұрын

    Effective distance is a bit more of a relative term than max distance which would be probably 150' angled. Reasonably effective would be maybe half that Hope that helps :)

    Odd question maybe…but have my reasons. Any guesstimate on how far one of these arrows could travel? Like max distance w/ proper angle FOR distance? And what pound bow? Maybe w/ 18 - 25 # bows? Is 300 feet or so doable?

  • @TheJunkernaut

    @TheJunkernaut

    Жыл бұрын

    It's been a long time since I've broken these out, so I could be dead wrong. But I think that 300 ft even angled with a 25 lb bow would be impossible. I can see 150 Maybe, but they just are too heavy and not aerodynamic to travel that far at any poundage that would still be safe at close range. Happy shooting!

    @@TheJunkernaut thanks so much for the reply. 150 feet is sooooo short. Lol. Was hoping for a different answer. 🤔 Looking to utilize bow/arrow for a game w/ safety a priority. Not shooting them AT people….but always better safe than sorry. Those tips WERE looking promising. I have almost ZERO knowledge/experience in archery. Been surfing web and came across this video. Guess I’ll keep searching and probably do some fieldwork trial/error. Thanks again.

    Im a bit slow on topics like this. Why exacly did you glued three washers together on the back of the Foam? And is it just glued on the foam or is it a lso glued on the arrow itself?

  • @TheJunkernaut

    @TheJunkernaut

    3 жыл бұрын

    A bit hard to explain with words... The washers are providing a secondary connection directly between the arrow shaft and the foam arrow head. The original design was failing almost immediately, pushing through the foam and could eventually punch through and injure someone. After the mod the force of impact is dispersed over twice the surface area making it 2-5 times stronger. Never had problems with them since.

  • @kontrakrtx9215

    @kontrakrtx9215

    @@TheJunkernaut I see. Correct me if im wrong: You glued 3-4 washer (with different size each) together, which then get glued on the end of the Foam + the metal thing. After this, did you just screw it back onto the arrow or did you also glued the arrow onto the Foam?

  • @TheJunkernaut

    @TheJunkernaut

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@kontrakrtx9215 You could use a dab of Loctite to keep the tip completely threaded onto the arrow shaft. But really The crucial part is that the Hole in the last washer is small enough that the shoulder of the arrow shaft is screwed tight against it. Thus transfering energy from the arrow shaft into the back of the foam head
