I'm from Poland so i find Czech a little funny because some words in this language sounds like in Polish but are a little messed up

Russia, a country for the sad. The translators did the right thing, in the sense of "Jinx" is well replaced by "curse". That's what they say in Russia.("Jinx" can also be translated as "curse" - so the global meaning is not lost)

I LOVE how raw and devastated Vi sounds in Polish.

Lesson learned: this scene is heartbreaking and hurts to watch in every language.

In the Hungarian dub she said "You're a curse, a jinx! Do you understand me?". But even if she worded it this way ( because "jinx" alone isn't a word in this languge ), it still felt somewhat softer and less agressive, in a good way.

I think in our language there is no word that can be close to the meaning of “jinx” in English 🤔 I can be wrong, but “curse” is the closest one.

Why does nobody talk about how good the emotions and saddness in German powder is? Her scream and her pain in it is the best of all languages in my opinion

as an Italian, I can say that while in the other languages Vi sounded very aggressive and scared the hell out of me ( Polish Vi don't hurt me pls), the Italian dub is actually very realistic. Maybe it's just where I live, but hearing Vi talking like that made me more terrified than anything, my parents and sisters used to shout at me like that. I think the voice actor nailed it perfectly, but I see why non-Italians aren't really fond of it. Maybe it's because it sounds calm when it actually really isn't. I swear it's really scary when you live it first hand, I felt like Powder while watching the scene anyway... that's it, props to both the voice actors! they did amazing, all of them! I think it's the first time I enjoy the Italian dubbing this much

As a Polish person I think you might be right. From my experience Vi's polish voice is realistic if only she keeps her voice in a low pitch while in my experience we usually go higher. It's very common to hear someone's voice go so raspy. Meanwhile Italian does feel too calm and less emotive, so it doesn't feel that realistic. It's interesting the cultural differences show even when extreme emotions are involved.

French dubs are always good, french studio or not.

One thing that I noticed after watching the same scene over and over so many times is that Vi was in a state of shock, and since she's been fighting a lot, her first nature was to lash out and hit Powder, but after grabbing her face she finally gained control again, and her tense angry face turned into a regretful face, and then she took a minute to cool down; which powder took as a form of abandonment. Vi is a good big sister, but she just doesn't have any control over her body and actions yet. Quick Edit: Sorry if I got anything wrong here, I haven't actually watched the series yet and this is just going off by what I see here in this clip and other clips I've seen!

This is absolutely right ... And honestly, who wouldn't react like Vi in a situation like this... Even if they don't really mean it ... Shock and anger make you react in the worst ways . But Vi is best big sis and as you say , you can se the regret on her face immediately ... 😭❤️

I mean literally her friends died that she grew up with. It’s not a suprise that she hit powder. Even a person who did have good control over her body would still be freaking angry or even use violence if somebody accidentally killed her friends, or even more like family.

when vi tells caitlyn about this night she mentions that “a real monster came”, and it’s a direct call back to this scene. vi is jinx’s monster.

Czech Powder sounds like she's legitimately being blamed for something horrific. Czech Vi sounds like her child is mildly annoying her at the supermarket XD

It's the mix of calm anger and dissapointment that we get here when we do something wrong. Honestly, I know there is not a lot of power in Vi's voice compared to the polish version for example, but it terrifies me good enough.

I like how in some languages Vi says not just "Because you're a jinx", like in English version, but they added other word, "curse", like in Russian (проклятие), because russian people probably don't understand the meaning of "jinx" so they use "curse" and in Hungarian (átok vagy), and then she says "jinx". My personal favorites English, Japanese, Russian and Hungarian. Edit: Before Vi hits Powder, Powder says in English: "Please, Please, Please." Same in Russian "Прошу прошу прошу". But in Japanese Powder says: Gomen nasai (ごめんなさい, "I am sorry"). And in Hungarian she says "Higgy nekem" (Believe me). And I'm pretty sure in other languages she may also say something different. In this case, the Japanese and the Hungarian hit me even harder. (Why do I torture myself with watching this scene in different languages? T.T )

Some of my favorite things about the og English version is Powder’s voice cracks as she yells, Violet’s anger through clenched teeth but mostly… the wavering/whimper in Powder’s voice right before her first line “I only wanted to help”. That tiny detail just breaks my heart the most, like she’s already struggling to speak at all

English, Japanese, turkish, French versions are so freaking good.

In the Japanese dub, after she’s slapped, Powder cries “ひどい” which basically means “cruel; heartless; severe; harsh”. Makes it even sadder urgh

Fun fact: in french, they don’t say ''because you’re a jinx'' they say ''because you jinx everything ''

English, French, Japanese, Russian, Polish, Italian and Spanish were honestly so well done.

I'm proud that you liked the Polish dubbing actors. It's a pity that the translation sometimes failed, but I'm still glad that our language sounds cool in dubbing, and the actors do a great job.

Japanese and French freaking killed it, Jesus Christ! Powder sobbing in Russian and Vi yelling in Polish were great too.

I can only speak English, but I just cried in like 15 different languages.

Lessons learned: 1) The world has many great voice actresses to offer. 2) I can get my heart ripped out and smashed into dust in languages that I don't even vaguely understand. I agree, Polish Vi doesn't just sound angry, she sounds absolutely furious. The English version is pretty great, but the French and Japanese are top notch to me. The German one has great raw emotion for Powder, who really sounds insanely distraught. But German Vi is not as good as a couple other Vi's so overall that's a bit of a shame. Every single version is great, a shame I can'tr pick up on the nuance of the different languages, though.

In polish they change a little bit, she is not telling her that she is jinx, she told that she give her bad luck and I think it is so cute translation because in this version Vi doesnt see Powder as a bad person but instead she told her that she act wrong :(( I did not see Arcane in english but in polish their still have so much love for each other and sister connection, they never told each other that they are bad person, just their act are bad and they can change it.

Funny thing, French voice actress for young powder is Alice Orsat, the one who dubbed Arya Stark in Game of Thrones and Mitsuha in Your Name. Guess she has a thing with murdering sprees and double personalities !

the problem with using the term jinx in other languages is that it does not make any sense. Imagine someone using a foreign word you don't know to describe your shortcomings.

Cannot tell for other versions but in french it's used like it's a slang word in order to explain why Powder changed her name to Jinx (the word is also used in the scene with Milo).

Japanese dubs are undefeated as always.. they are just too good. The French was also very good.

In Spanish Vi says "Mala suerte" which means "bad luck", it fits just right how Powder wanted to help, but arrived at a bad moment. Also I noticed how in other languages Powder is being called a curse. When Powder is around, everything just falls apart. Interesting to see how "Jinx" is interpreted in various ways and they all mean the same

That's the approach they took for portuguese too, but it was "azar", that is more of a superstition take. Like she always gives bad luck and can't chage it.

It’s even sad to listen to this part in one language until fifteen. Man's eyes will be teary ...

There is a minor mistake. The langauge that is stated as Dutch is actually danish.

Да, но сам сериал клешированный с кучей нелогичных моментов, а в некоторых вообще не понимаешь, что происходит. Но даже и с ними, сериал отличный, правда долго серии выходят. (Это моё сугубо личное мнение)

My favorites are the English, French and Japanese. The way Powder's voice cracks in the English one kills me, and there are similar sounds in the French and Japanese. The emotion in them HURTS.

This tv show is so emotional and great, well made in general. So much so that it's great even in other languages, wows

Powder crying in italian really breaks my heart 😭

this is how you hurt yourself 15 times

i usually like the original version of arcane's scenes because of the double meaning of some words or phrases (the word "jinx" in this scene, "i made her a snack" in the last ep, "you are hot, cupcake" being a bit more intense in english and etc) but in this case, my language's dubbing (brazillian portuguese) i felt this scene was overall beter even without the use of the word "jinx" (that was translated to "you give bad luck" because we don't really have the word jinx of course) because the tone of the voices fit better in the moment i felt Vi's voice in portguese made her sound a bit more mad at Powder in this scene than in the english version (i think it is the "raspiness" of the voice? i didn't really find a better word in english to describe the voice tone) and Powder's crying saying she only wanted to help sounded a bit more desperate in portuguese because, besides the tone of the voice, Powder saying "i only wanted to help" took a bit more time to say than "eu só queria ajudar", so, with the last one being said quicker and repeatedly, the phrase sounded more desperate for a child (while in english it sounds like Powder is more out of breath and trying to process the situation than being desperate and feeling guilty) but yeah, even without the double-meaning moments exclusive to english, i really liked the dubbing of the show, but watching some important scenes in english with these double-meanings, it enriches the story a bit

In spanish Vi says “PORQUE DAS MALA SUERTE” which means “BECAUSE YOU GIVE BAD LUCK” It made sense but it didn’t give an explanation to why she’s called Jinx, unless u knew the League Lore

yep..but as a malaysian.....they could have put a bit more emotion into powder. vi was ok...but didnt give much deep anger.
