    You still need to manually clean up and add animations on top of mocap, mocap isn't magic either, you can't just capture it and transfer it, for realistic animations it gives a basis for animations but you still have to change the whole thing, clean up jitters and other things and then dial the body mechanics of the creature you can animating but for stylized animations like arcane, it's all from scratch and acting out the shots by real persons so they can watch and animate.

    "Fortiche real animators, no motion capturing." Come on let's not do that. I do think Fortiche has achieved a level of artistry above any long form show to the point you have to start comparing them to animation teams making movies but let's not dump on people making very hard choices on how to craft their shows. I never animated in my life but I can still tell motion captured work still gets touched up on by animators, because this happens all the time for teams making videogames having to deal with the idiosyncrasies of making motion capture work in game. Everyone in the industry is doing real work but have different artistic sensibilities and their canvas is constrained by budget and time.

    The voice performance of Jinx is outstanding! Ella Purnell is Jinx she stole the show throughout the whole thing from the beginning to the end of the first season I hope we get to see more of Jinx! And sees what happens after the cliffhanger at the end of the First Season! Arcane will always have a special place to my heart! The show may have action but it also has sadness and it's about trauma especially with the character of Jinx because she's going through so much between losing her sister by even though she didn't technically lose her she felt very lost and empty and yet when she became a totally different person it makes you feel like you almost feel sympathetic for her because you know what she's going through this show is phenomenal and I can't wait to see what the future happens for Arcane!

  • @MrSheduur

    @MrSheduur

    Жыл бұрын

    I think it is less sympathy but more that sadness to see her fall this much, especially since she wanted to help but made it worse without realizing it. That song part "what could have been" underlines this so very well. What Powder could have been if this fateful moment did not take place as it did. So if you feel sympathetic it is mostly because you still go back to the wholesome family bond that she and Vi shared when they were younger, and that longing to get it back, even though everyone understands that this will never be.

    the way that fortiche and the animation style of arcane is sort of bringing back some traditional aspects of filmmaking that we don't have anymore thanks to cgi like matte paintings or the prop making but in a more modern way with 3d models and software is amazing. its evocative of the era of sculpting and stop motion with how they texture the models with the paint-like style like if you were making a clay figure. this bts series is great, so glad it got made because it really shows a whole story behind the story that is really worth the watch

    I am 40 years old, and this is the best tv series I have ever seen (animated or otherwise). And I have watched a lot. You people created a peace of art that that will be hard to surpass, but it shows what passionate people with time and resources can achieve. This show was created from a place of vision and passion. I never played league and never will, but I watched every cinematic, music and lore video that was released and will watch anything remotely related to runeterra in the future. You are the BEST. Love this documentary which only solidifies this opinion. I have complete faith that season 2 will be awesome!!

I've spent days listening to video essays and hours of rewatching the MV's and listening to the soundtrack. Maybe its because its a cartoon or video game adaptation , but I feel like the show isnt nearly as popular as it should be. Like nobody I know watches it or even knows it exists.

The environments, the architecture of Piltover, the uniforms, even the logo for Arcane is inspired by the Eiffel tower. It's amazing what can be accomplished with passionate people who are determined to go above and beyond along every step of production. The fact that one of the best-written episodes came from collaborative input from the director, writers and storyboard artists is brilliant and really reflects the trust Fortiche have in each other. They chase after the little details that they speak that is probably done by a human and not with the easy way of modern technology like motion capturing. Back in the days people had to spend even +hours to create what is known now as animation and it wasn't as developed as now modern technology and it's that much more natural of appreciating the human hard work.

    That moment in the show where the performer is on stage playing that weird violin was the moment this show jumped to the top position for me. The way they build the scene, around a musical performance and the music itself, weaving multiple complex layers of drama, skill, ingenuity, and commitment, to provide a sequence of breathtaking highs and lows, while still maintaining the progression and development of both the characters and the plot. So, I'm very pleased to learn they styled the soloist in the show off the same guy who actually plays the solo in the score. Mad respect.

    21:50 I saw what he meant all over in this show. I think one of the coolest aspects of animation is by it’s nature of production, it requires the creator to slow down. Every frame is hand painted, over and over or there’s more refined potential for control over lighting and textures. Every expression and movement is developed by hand-placed keyframes one by one and refined over and over. Multiple minds come together and contribute to each aspect, building upon each idea better than one individual could. It allows for more opportunities to add detail, intention, and meaning behind each event, movement, expression, transition, frame etc… Arcane REALLY masters this specifically. You just can get the same thing with a camera crew and real actors…not that it can’t be well done that way too ofc. I think there’s just more room for small errors to be overlooked or some aspects that aren’t as customizable because they’re limited by realism whether it’s like physics or an actors physical limitations. I’ve gained a whole new respect for animation from this show.
