I prefer the 4 way gate over the circle and octagon

Circle gate is best for fireball characters but some moves need the down forward input that's why square gate is the best

how long does it take to get used to? i've had my new arcade stick for 4 days now and the square gate feels hard to use sometimes. especially in tekken. do i need to do some sort of drills?

Seems like a crutch for riding the gate instead of having control over your movements. I rarely hit my square gate unless i intend to
