Arca Swiss to Manfrotto RC2 Converter: Using With an L-Bracket
Фильм және анимация
L-brackets allow you to switch your camera from landscape to portrait mode without having to adjust the tripod head or legs to re-level the camera. This is particularly important when shooting panoramics. But L-brackets use the Arca Swiss mount. What if you only have a Manfrotto RC2-type head? That's where this converter comes in. This video shows how it's used.
Apologies for the focus 'hunting'. This will be corrected in subsequent videos.

Finally someone explains the adapter! I’m a beginner so this helped a lot.
I'd like to add a little something if I may, the 4 screws on the bottom can be removed in order to swing the plate around 180 degrees for a better orientation of the tightening knob. Use a little semi-permanent loc-tite on the tip of the threads to ensure the screws don't come lose. As for the "odd little thing", turn your camera 180 degrees in the mount and the odd little thing goes away with a mere 90 degree rotation of your handles. Turning the camera exposes all the handles for use albeit not the way you are used to. A benefit is recognised when you have a lens with a foot which again, turns the camera back to the way the 2-3 way head was intended to be used. I use this adapter with some pretty heavy equipment. Z9 with Z 800mm 6.3 PF. Just shy of 4200g. (9.2 lbs) Manfrotto MPMXPROC4 monopod, Manfrotto 234C monopod head, Haoge QR Clamp Adapter to Arca-Swiss, (4 screws removed, spun this plate for my use) MH-100 Wimberley MonoGimbal Head with Arca-Swiss base and rotating quick-release clamp. I use another Haoge QR Clamp converter on my tripod head, Manfrotto MHXPRO-3W. The alternative is very expensive. Hard installed, adapter kits from Hejnar Photo. Nice solid kits and well made. Almost $200 a crack. I've done 3 heads before I found the Haoge converters clamp. Cheers!
Thanks for the clear explanation about the adapter.
This is really helpful video - thank you!
I see you are Canadian, plus wear an iron ring. Me too, near Toronto. I have been using that adapter for some time. Today, I used it on my new 502AH Fluid Head to attach my L bracket. I might have one of those L plates you mentioned. Now, I really liked the price and there were not many choices for my Z6ii when I ordered it. The Smallrig version is about double the price but it’s now on the list for sure. Cold iron and all that … .
Hi Alfredo. Thanks for the comment. I paid less than $40 Canadian on Amazon for the Haoge converter. Amazon is probably the cheapest.
thank you just wat I was looking for
Muy buen video ese si es un adaptardor verdadero y no una solucion forzada
By the way Manfrotto also offers the 200PL-Pro plate. There you'll have the same 90° turn on your Arca Swiss heads. But maybe for ball heads (Arca Swiss type) it's less of a problem.
Thanks for this
thank you
Thank you; after much searching, the first video to really explain these adaptors/converters. Are there any other makes worth looking at? I'm very nervous about the compatibility and fragility issues with cheap and cheerful!!
A rare no bull shit camera Advice bravo so duly subscribed 👍
The adapter is called Haoge Quick Release QR Clamp Adapter for Manfrotto RC2 System to Arca-Swiss Compatible on Amazon.ASIN B01E613CEY.

thank you!
Thanks.
Thank you for the video I just bought the Befree XPRO and it came with a plate that Manfrotto describes as being able to fit both RC2 and Arca Swiss If I use this plate does it mean it will now fit all L-Brackets? Thank you

Hmmm - no need to reply. Just seen another video that explains how to attach the L-Bracket and it now makes more sense to me - essentially if the ball head is Arca Swiss then I can use this new Manfrotto RC2/Arca Swiss plate on that ball head too So either I need a new Arca Swiss ball head for my new tripod, or this Arca Swiss to Manfrotto RC2 Converter, or find an L-Bracket that fits an RC2 plate Wish I had known this before buying the Befree! lol (mind you, though I've yet to use it my first impressions are very positive) Thanks again
Since the RC-2 bottom plate is screwed on the Arca Swiss plate, do you know if it would be possible to unscrew and rotate it, so you can use your tripod handles as intended? Thanks for making this video BTW. This is exactly what I was after, best regards!

I don't see why not, except I just tried to undo the screws with a simple Phillips screwdriver and they are tight! However, I was able to spin the adapter 180 degrees and have it latch into the RC-2 base. A word of caution, though. The latch is not as secure on the opposite side of the RC-2 bottom plate, because the 'normal' side has an indent that more securely holds the plate.
Can I open my battery door with the L-Bracket?
What is the model number for this Arca Swiss?
What adapter specifically is this? You say it is Haoge, but they make many things. This is exactly what I want, but you don’t include a link or model number.
arrrggghhhh......i cant seem to find anywhere a converter that will let a tripod with arca swiss ball head accept a camera with a manfrotto plate attached to the bottom of it...do you know where i can find one of those? i know they exist but i just cant seem to find one
Hi Thank you for the review. I have a Manfrotto XPro Ball Head which uses a PL-200-14 plates. Manfrotto ball heads use different sized plates. I would like to know if this adapter will fit the X pro Ball Head. The plate size is 51 mm X 40 mm. This adapter may fit the smaller ball heads but not the XPro. Would be obliged if you could give me the measurements from your plate as the measurements are not mentioned anywhere. Thanks. Earlier on I bought some plates which were supposed to fit the RC2 Clamp but they did not fit The XPro clamp as the plates were much smaller.

I measured the plate on the bottom of the adapter with a ruler, by eye, as 41x52. That's 1mm off from your measurement, but I would imagine it's the same. Measured again with a caliper and it was closer to 42x52. I have found that even ARCA Swiss plates are not always consistent in size, so industry standards are in question. Not sure what to suggest, but these are cheap enough that it may be worth taking a chance.

@@phototopics1156 Thank you very much. I just checked size of the PL-200-14 plate that fits the XPRO ball head and this is 42 mm X 53 mm so your measurements are correct and this adapter should fit the clamp. Thank you for responding on this It will save me changing the entire head. Much appreciated. Kind Rgds
how much is the convert arca swiss a manfrotto. Here in Spain it's worth around 60 euros, I think it's expensive. very good video, thank you very much.
I think this video and/or product is misnamed. I'm looking for a converter to allow a Manfrotto plate to be used on an Arca Swiss head. Where can I find this? Your video is about a product that allows a Manfrotto tripod to use Arca Swiss plates. Hence, it should be named "Manfrotto TO Arca Swiss."
Why not use a ball head and do away with L plates?

A matter of preference, I guess. Once you have the tripod legs and head levelled, I find using an L Bracket a quick and accurate way to change between landscape and portrait.

When I flip my ball head for a vertical shot, the ball head becomes less stable....especially if Im set up in flowing water of a creek
You should boycott cheap Chinese accessories for your Japanese awesome camera and lenses.
