This “Wicked Game” performance took place during the May, 2019 season of a talent show for disadvantaged teens called “You Are Super” and Diana competed in and ended up winning this competition. You and your audience may or may not know that Diana Ankudinova in 2017 was only13 years old when she first had her vocal range measured. Her vocal range at that time was from a low of D3 to a high of A5. She was 15 years old in 2019 when Her performance of Chris Izaak's classic "Wicked Game", really demonstrates what many vocal professionals believe, Diana Ankudinova is well on her way to developing into a true contralto, which is a very, very rare female voice type. In particular, it's the quality of her tone, timbre, roundness, fullness, and depth of her sound, plus her ability to access a ton of resonance that further define her as a "dramatic contralto", the rarest of the rare contralto voice types. For someone as young as Diana to already demonstrate the onset of this ability at such a young age is truly impressive and extraordinary! Diana has said she was not happy with her lack of a higher vocal range which kept her out of the more prestigious vocal academies. It was after several rejections that she decided along with her voice teacher to really concentrate on improving her higher range which can be heard when you listen to her cover of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” the Elvis Presley classic which she recorded 2 years after Wicked Game at age 18 during another vocal competition called, “TheShowMaskGoOn!” during the the show’s inaugural run. It was during this performance that her range was again measured and she now has a functional range measured from a low of C 3 to a high of B♭5. Diana is also a true polyphonic singer, an extremely rare talent for someone so young to have mastered. Polyphonic singing is a vocal technique that creates one, and sometimes two different tones at the same time which adds to the harmonic overtones and undertones which can make it sound like two different voices singing at the same time. This polyphonic sound is why some people mistakenly think she is using a voice synthesizer or pitch correction software to manipulate her sound. Others believe there's another voice singing off stage, or she is lip-syncing over a previously recorded vocal track. There is no electronic voice manipulation with her voice going on at all, what you are hearing is all Diana Ankudinova. There are other performances of Diana in vocal competitions and concerts. She also recorded some videos that were done in her home studio that are stripped down without any of the major flash or production value of competitions or concerts. Diana is a force to be reckoned with. I love that she is a Contralto. If I had gone the route of music instead of nursing that is where my voice sits (I just could never sing along with pop music. Что же она делает? Прежде всего - это искусная работа на контрастах. Дар, полученный ею при рождении и доведённый со временем почти до совершенства. Первый контраст, - именно на него обращают внимание все, кто слышит её впервые - контраст по диапазону, наиболее очевидный. Низкая тесситура - высокая тесситура; этим пользуются все, у кого есть такие природные данные - в том числе, и Диана Анкудинова. Менее очевиден другой контраст - динамический (проще говоря - интенсивность звучания). Она умеет очень выразительно петь практически шёпотом; но и на самом мощном fortissimo вы слышите очень плотный, объёмный, однородный звук - абсолютно узнаваемый, ни с каким другим звуком не сравнимый. i liked your 'wtf is happening?' face. me too. She is a contralto and thats why iam more confused by her high notes. i mean there sometimes notes from her you will think even a mezzo will have some Problems. for me she is so unique and increadable like dimash.

Not bad for a 15-year old. She is actually more comfortable singing in her lower registers, and has worked hard (she is currently attending Moscow's most famous music academy) on her upper registers. She is currently 19 (imagine what she'll be like at 25). I recommend her singing "Can't Help Falling Love" and other songs from her recent appearances on the Russian TV show "Showmaskgoon".
