AR-15 for under $500. 1000 round review Radical Firearms
Ойын-сауық
AR-15 for under $500 1000 round review in 2022. So I finally rounded the corner of 1000+ rounds in my budget A.R. 15 that I bought in 2022 for under $500. I have thrown quite a few accessories and made a few operational upgrades to get the firearm in tiptop condition but the Radical Firearms A.R. 15 is a solid as they come. Hopefully this will be helpful to someone who is searching for a review on the Radical Firearms line of rifles.

Better to be over gassed than under gassed. Remember, radical was having problems initially with feeding and cycling. They put a big heavy bolt in the action to give the round more time to follow up through the magazines and they probably over Gass there rifles on purpose. If it ain't broke I say don't fix it.
I have a radical arms rf15 and after my first 200 rounds, I became under gassed and started short cycling. Started checking it out and found that the gas key on the BCG was stripped and just turning. Put in my buddies BCG and worked flawlessly. Contacted radical via email and they were very quick to respond. Sent out my BCG and got it back. I’m only 60 miles from their HQ so shipping is pretty fast to say the least. They swapped it out, no questions asked. Amazing company. Houston, Texas based for the win!

I'm about to purchase an RF 15. And hence forth the research. I'm looking to see what to expect. Even though it's " budget friendly " I need to know it's not going to fail in a REAL crisis situation
I love my RF15 its NEVER let me down its run flawlessly and is accurate easily out to 200 + yards. It's my go to home defense rifle and I trust it 100% with my life. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸Texas made freedom stick🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Thank you for watching the video. You are very correct it never lets me down and is very accurate out to 200 yards.
Love my RF AR-15. I didn’t think I ever wanted or needed a rifle and then I bought this and I absolutely love it. Excellent review and thanks for the accessory info
Love the way you have all of the boxes of the mods you used on the table very visibly. That probably answers half of the questions you would otherwise get in the comments. Great video. Very well down. Nice rifle.
I applaud AND commend you for sharing this build, experience and reflection. very well done, spoken and honestly, I'm behind this review 100%. It clearly showed it can be done and your challenges that you overcame. I'm just gonna high-five you Brothuh!!
Nice in depth review my friend. Very good of you to take your time for the benefit of the rest of us.
I just picked one up on 12/30/23 from Sportsman’s Warehouse for $429.00 (Reg $459.00)….. Fantastic Value!
A great firearm for the pricepoint. And they stand behind them 100%.

Thank you, my brother. I'm getting a Radical Firearm in about a month. Like you, I'm new to the AR platform, so this video is a great help. Thanks again!
Nice review brother! Keep seeing them under 500 online, but really didn't know much about Radical. Leaning toward picking one up. Thanks for a straight forward, no bullshit review.
You did right. You set up your rifle for what works for you. Good informative video and explanation as to why and how you set up your weapon.
A well done video! Great speaking voice, stayed on the point without extra fluff. Keep up the good work!
I'm glad I found your channel I was looking at radical firearms ar-15 for my wife. She just wants a budget ar. I think after watching this video I will be getting her a radical ar-15 thanks for the info. God bless you.
That ejection problem was good advice lot of people wouldn't even have picked up on that thank you
I just landed a 16" rpr for $500 after shipping and tax from GunBroker and I'm so excited for this to be my intro to the ar platform. I have a 10mm bullpup carbine but this I'm excited for as I've heard nothing but solid things for a $500 dollar rifle 🙌
Again. Thank you for the video. And all the comments from others that have Love and Knowledge
I am very pleased with mine & I didn’t get near as good of a deal as you. 😢 Good review !! You outfitted your rifle very nicely & great shooting.
Enjoyed the video .just bought Radical AR and hve not shot yet and ran across your video thanks for info.
My daughter shoots an RF as her 3gun rifle and she has banged steel at almost 500 yards. Regardless of the accessories it’s still a budget AR that is solid. I also have an RF in 7.62x39. It had trouble with brass but she’ll has been rock solid. I imagine after a good break in it will run brass as well.
I love my RF AR and you just made me love it even more bro! Praise the Lord! I’ll be getting more products from them for sure, another AR and whatever they may have that tickles the interest but hey thank you for this review! I’ll be sharing it with my cousin that I’m trying to convince to get one of these bad boys!
best review yet well done I just got a radical cant wait to shoot it. I also have a dimond back and it's an awesome ar so far
Appreciate the testing you went through man. Buffer noted forsure as well for my setup. I just have mostly milspec parts internally.

Thanks for the detailed review
Enjoyed the video as I just purchased that AR15. Haven't shot it yet as my local range is closed for two days . I'm not intending to do competitive shooting, just wanted to get an AR 15. I will research that scope you have. Also good to hear about the customer service. Take care and have a blessed day. Ted in Sebastian, Fl.
I have the rpr 16 inch 300 blackout I purchased it back in late October since then I've ran a thousand rounds through the weapon not one problem. I'm very happy with my purchase. I do know the older models were a bit defective but radical seems to have fixed whatever was wrong. Very solid weapon very durable and accurate. I paid 449 for my blackout best purchase I've made in over a year.
I bought 2 of them out of curiosity. One chambered in 5.56x46 and one in 7.62x39. Haven’t had issues other than the over gassing. Just swapped out the buffer weights to some heavier. The 7.62x39 one I’m expecting the extractor to break soon, but it hasn’t yet. It will one day.
Very good review sir. Love my RF AR. RF 300 Black out next.
Great video
Really appreciate your detailed review, along with customizations. Over the last year or so, I've acquired two RF-15s, but in 7.62x39 rather than 5.56/.223. My mods include: Strike Industries ambi handle, replacing the stock trigger group with Rise Armaments Rave-140 trigger (had to swap to a heavier hammer spring with that Commie ammo); a Romeo 05XDR red dot; replaced the A2 grip with a Bravo Co. Mod-0 grip, and added a Magpul AFG.

If you haven't yet, you need to pick up enhanced firing pins for your 7.62x39 steel cased ammo. That rave will light em up!
I agree with you I think radical and Anderson both make really good AR-15s especially for the price
Looks nice brother. 👍 All you need now is a nice gray sling. Good video. Liked and subbed. ✌️
Got around 300 rounds through mine and I am just in love! Feel so satisfied knowing the price paid and quality received.
I have one with a franklin binary trigger. Put the trigger in before I ever shot it. I have roughly 800 rounds through it. I have had ZERO failures. The finish on them is not great. Mine has been very reliable and accurate
Thanks for this review, i just picked one up and im excited about it!
Assuming this is the model that comes with a B5 stock / grip, this is now 399 at grabagun. Thanks for the breakdown. You're lucky to have a sweet range nearby. I have to drive an hour to get to such a range from Dallas
I just got a rpr and I love it!
I got that exact same gun. I got it for 350$ from a guy at the pawn shop. He just purchased it there about a month before that. It was brand new, it was never fired. He needed to pay an electric bill . So I couldn't let that offer pass me up. I am very pleased. I have put it through the test. I've shoot several thousand rounds through it . Not one issue ever. This is definitely a battle Worthy weapon. It can be set up for full auto and has the ambidextrous safety. And I'm left handed and I can put the 5.556 we're it need stop go .
@Blueknight1960
5 ай бұрын
It can be set up for full auto? Do you have any idea just how illegal that would be? Not to mention you'll need the correct parts, some drilling/milling needs to be done and a few other things. Having an illegal full auto ar isn't worth the 20+ years and the hefty fines and loss of your 2A rights.
I own a RF-15, 16" barrel 1:7 twist rate 5.56 NATO, with a 15" RPR SOCOM profile. I mounted a Holosun HE593CU-GE optic , upgraded the trigger to a CMC single stage 3.5 lbs pull, attached a sling, and Voila! Up to this date, I have no issues, but only praises about its functionality, performance and accuracy. All others, spend whatever you want on a Daniel Defense, Gieselle Patrol Duty, Noveske, etc. I won't. I am happy with my battle service rifle for less.

I got the RF15 18" RPR 6.5 Grendel, if you want accuracy then the Grendel version is highly recommended
so the H3 buffer seems to be working rather well for the RF15 ( got mine a month ago ), from what i've seen so far from a couple video's and yours of course, thank you Sir
Be sure to get a Sprinco or BCM extractor spring. It's one of the cheapest upgrades that will improve reliability and last longer, much longer, than the original. If you do this, choose either the oring or insert but not both. I like to run the insert and the spring. Comsider your ejector spring too.
Thanks for these videos. I just purchased this AR and it was delivered to the FFL today! Can't wait to take it to the range! Where are you located, if I may ask?

Id run PMC over Winchester white box. Seems like theyve been having issues with overpressure and blowing up rifles. Scheels usually has PMC X-Tac for around $10 a box.
Any issues with the trigger? Ive heard maybe two people say they had issues with the trigger not working
And I just got the Athlon Neo!

I'm in this same boat as most here. I got this as my first ar.. was about to gear up on it, but from all the research I've done, is to shoot it as is for a bit.. get used to how it shoots as is, zero your iron sights then start up grading.. that doing the process in that way will make you a better shooter with your riffle..
Excellent video.! I appreciate you sharing what you have done to tune up the gun rather than just complaining that it doesn't function like a custom $3000 AR Out of the box. I have found that a lot of "budget" firearms work well. And quite simply the glass is where you really want to spend the money. I just purchased one of these and I haven't shot it yet so I appreciate the time and effort you put into this video and I'll keep an eye out on the ejection now that you've pointed it out. Thanks again!
I have this same upper. Slapped it on my tried snd true lower cant wait to go try it out. Its my do it all rifle. I have a match grade m16a2 with stainless 20" bull barrel from white oak. A 7.5" upper from bear creek and this 16" 556 upper from radicsl. Its gonna host a supressor in the future if i get it dialed in. Forsure getting an adjustable gas block and a gas mitigating charging handle setup while im waiting on the suppressor.

Really happy with this setup I hope it runs as hard as it looks on my wall.
If you complain about a budget AR you must not realize the parts are interchangeable and you can build a crazy AR from a cheaper starter build than say a mid priced S&W or a Ruger AR
I bought 2 Ruger 556 MPR both were over gassed to where the ejection was like yours 1-130 I changed to h2 buffer and the red springco extra power spring so now it's 3 to 4 o'clock ejection

It's the buffer tube why it's 1:30 2:00 0 clock They have that corrected now. All milspeck now.
I only paid 470 for mines plus i dont shoot that much so i aint asking for much as long as its reliable and accurate i will clean it after every range trip which would probaly be once every 2 months…

Thank you for watching the video. In my opinion been no expert I don’t feel it loses accuracy as the barrel heats up. I am not the best shot with a rifle. I am more a handgun guy but I would have no problem with attempting a shot at 200 yards with this rifle.

It looks like a Magpul vertical grip. It will attach straight to the bottom or sides of the m-lok rail. Won’t need anything special for it. Only need an Allen wrench/key to install. I prefer their angled grips more over these though. Magpul has a bunch of stuff you can get to customize.
