Would it not be better to rotate the bottom section 180', so that the bulkheads are on the flat side and the water comes in and hits the curved side? That should make the bulkheads more secure and increase the water swirl in the bottom section.

No doubt Aquascape is an industry leader, good quality, products, but the 2500 at $700 is mighty steep from mostly all plastic. I built my first bond 25 years ago. The pricing for most items has quadrupled. Seems the business has overtaken. And enjoyable backyard project.
