Clara, a 65 year old widow and retired music critic, was born into a wealthy and traditional family in Recife, Brazil. She is the last resident of the Aquarius, an original two-story building, built in the 1940s, in the upper-class, seaside Boa Viagem Avenue, Recife. All the neighboring apartments have already been acquired by a company which has other plans for that plot. Clara has pledged to only leave her place upon her death, and will engage in a cold war of sorts with the company. This tension both disturbs Clara and gives her that edge on her daily routine. It also gets her thinking about her loved ones, her past and her future.

I LOVED this film-not for action fans as it is like a portrait of daily urban life in Brazil. Lovely work, not for the masses!
A masterpiece with a magnetic, superb and spectacular performance by the gorgeous Sonia Braga!
Lots of people thinking that the movie was recorded in Rio de Janeiro. This film was recorded between the Orla de Boa Viagem and Brasilia stubborn - (Recife / PE-Brasil).
I don't know how old Sonia Braga is, but I want my looks at any age to be equal to hers in this movie. Gorgeous!
The dislikes are probably political retaliation due to the prostest the crew did in Cannes. People did that too on the movie's Imdb page, giving low rates such as 1,2,3 or 4.... That's a pitty, because the movie is beautiful and sonia braga is stunning, she even has an oscar buzz going on

From Wikipedia: "During the first exhibition of Aquarius at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, the film's cast showed protest signs written in Portuguese, English and French criticising Brazil's political turmoil of the time. The signs read messages such as "Brazil is not a democracy anymore", "Sauvez la démocratie brésilienne" ("Save Brazilian democracy"), and "Dilma, vamos resistir com você" ("Dilma, we will resist with you"). Immediate internet response followed, with supporters of Dilma’s impeachment suggesting boycotting the film. Among these, the right-wing columnist Reinaldo Azevedo wrote that "it is the duty of people of good will to boycott this film". Aquarius distributing company then used this sentence in the film's promotional poster, along with three other positive quotes, in what has been understood as an act of subversion."

Do you think people who watch boring movies have an incredible life? Because people who live in the extremely mundane they watch blockbusting cheesy films, in compensation I assume people who watch plain stories must have an incredible life.
