    I went by what Corry from aquarium co-op said to do for my Betta, who had columnaris, which was to add 5 tablespoons of aquarium salt to my 10 gallon aquarium for five days. That didn’t work so then he recommended to do 10 tablespoons for five days which I did but by the fifth day my fish passed away. I feel horrible and I can’t stop thinking about it. He was two years old and the sweetest little interactive guy. I’m so sad. I don’t know if I would ever use salt again. Maybe just a salt bath or dip like this video recommends. I thought about doing that, but I thought it would be too stressful for him to take him out of the aquarium to give him the salt bath. And I really trusted aquarium co-op to give me the right advice. I knew it was a risk. I just wish I hadn’t taken that risk. I feel like I made my poor fish suffer un necessarily and for nothing. 😢

    Unfortunate to hear. In my experience, 10 tablespoons for 10 gallons would help when decease is on preliminary stage. If it’s over 3-4days and no improvements, salt dip in right option. It reacts faster on their body, specially for betta fish. But, I also learned that in hard way, my first saltbath treatment was disaster. 😒

    Hello. I was wondering, I feed my Betta fish pellets but I usually let the food soak in a separate water container for a few minutes up to a few hours before feeding her because the pellets are very dry and when my fish eats them when they're dry she usually gets sick/constipated for the rest of the day.. Do you think it is safe and/or necessary if I put a small amount of aquarium salt in the water container while the food is soaking? I'm very cautious about what they eat because recently I just discovered I was feeding them flakes with mold on it

  • @aquadiaryofficial

    it’s a great way to keep your fish healthy and avoid any constipation issues. Aqua diary highly recommended it. Use bit of same aquarium water for soaking, avoid new water. also don’t soak more than 5 mins, over soaked pellets may contaminates the water. Happy betta keeping!

    Does anyone know if I can use aqauriam salt in addition to Indian Almond leaves I already put in yesterday?

  • @aquadiaryofficial

    @aquadiaryofficial

    2 ай бұрын

    Yes, Aquarium salt is more for treatment. The almond leaves will reduce the PH in tank and help reduce stress for new fish and speed up the healing process. It also create the nature habitat for betta. Use salt for the fish that need to do treatment. But dont harm if you already added it.

    Hello. I would like advice. Im treating some parasite in my freshwater tank. (Probably ich) I have goldfish aka water piggies. How many grams of Epsom salt to 300 litres aquarium tank? I have hard time counting it. I want to help my babies but i don't want to overdose them and hurt them.

  • @aquadiaryofficial

    @aquadiaryofficial

    6 ай бұрын

    300 liters is, 80 gallons of water. It requires 25-26 tablespoons of salt.(it’s around 60grams). But adding into big freshwater tank may impact your live plant, snails (if you have them). Personally I move the fish that are impacted to smaller tub or tank to treat the for a week.

    I’m confused on the dosage, if it’s 1 tbsp(15ml) per 3 gal then for 1 gallon dosage it would be a teaspoon(5ml) of salt correct? But how can the dosage be 1 teaspoon per gallon and also 1 teaspoon per litre 🤔
