@@UriShasha thank you for the quick response. I hadnt noticed it turn red ever until just yesterday, after i had done a complete water change in my turtle tank. At first i had assumed it was normal because i was putting cold(ish) water back in the tank, and i assumed the heater was just working 'overtime' to try and regulate temperature. I then turned the temperature knob down, and it ceased with the red glow. Tonight i turned it back up to get the tank temp back to around 78deg and it turned red again. I wasnt sure what to think, and ive seen conflicting thoughts on whether that is normal or not. Thank you again

Just use a heater controller and it will prevent it getting stuck on, then you can use as big a heater as you like. Bigger heater means the temp is more stable if the room temperature drops. E.g. A 100w heater might not be able to keep a 100L tank at 25c if the room it's in is under 20c.

Hey, Im little bit confused by installing heater diagonally for short and wide tanks instead of installing it horizontally.
