I wonder does this suffer bad biofouling on the RO like most RO plants that use UF/MF as pretreatment.

What happens to production waste: sludge, macro and micro filters, brine, etc.? What happens the the brine/salt plant production waste ?

And how can the filters be "self-cleaning"? That sounds like total bs. Desalination should always be a last resort solution, it solves the water problem but causes new issues with soil pollution and electricity consumption (in China for example from coal power).

If the sun does everything for you without any power then why the world would need this complex power consuming system?

Basically all the energy we use comes from the sun, initially from the nuclear fusion, and then converted to light, heat, wind, water state change, etc This a plant to clean water with reverse osmosis, it needs to use some energy

A billion gallons a day huh? And who is we... ? I’ve done the figures... you would need a project 400 times that size to achieve those numbers. What’s your proposal?
