Aqua Marina Bluedrive S Power fin / Review

Спорт

Full post on SUPboarder here : www.supboardermag.com/equipme... In this weeks SUPboarder review we take a look at something a little different! It may not be for everyone, but for some paddlers it could be a great opportunity to go further, find new places and paddle in conditions that weren't possible before. The Aqua Marina Bluedrive S is a power fin that fits into a conventional slide in fin box and gives you enough power to move the biggest of boards up to 4mph without the paddler doing anything!
Some paddlers may think it's an unnecessary gadget, but there are so many examples when the Aqua Marina Bluedrive S power fin could be really helpful. For example, paddlers wanting to keep up with faster paddlers, paddlers wanting help to push into wind or choppy waters at certain sections of a SUP trip, or to take paddlers further and with more weight on their boards than previously possible. If used wisely the Aqua Marina Bluedrive S power fin could allow more paddlers to enjoy even more water time... which can only be a good thing surely.

Hi guys, love the channel and videos are great and super informative. What's the possibility of doing a touring board comparison video with the current popular touring boards for sale? I'm on a few groups on social media, and it's seems to be a common question with there being alot of new paddlers this year who discover touring is for them. Cheers again and all the best.

Hey Tom, Will has done a few feature on SUPboarder Pro you will find interesting www.supboardermag.com/2019/06/29/things-to-consider-when-selecting-your-touring-sup-pro-video/ . But you need to look out for the 2021 iSUP touring board test on SUPboarder Pro this spring. I think it will be a big one with all the best touring boards going up head to head! Are you after a hard or iSUP board? Thanks Reuben

On the drive section on the bottom of the plastic shell I saw some bolts. Take them off drill some holes on metal plates and reattach the bolts to protect the plastic casing. Put some mesh over the intakes to eliminate weed.

I live next to the Waikato River in NZ this would really open up much more variation for me as I could then start my paddle with say an hour down river towards Port Waikato without assistance and then turn around and put it on full power coming back against the current. I would never dream of doing that now as you can get really caught out trying that with a paddle alone.

Yeah this will open up a lot of possibilities for people. Obviously you always want to make sure your equipment is in top condition and the battery is fully charged when going on any mini mission. Have fun I know the Waikato River would be amazing for it. Another con is the big cord hanging out in the water. They should have a few clips that you can stick to the bottom of the board that you can clip the cord into. Keep it tight to the board and reduce drag.. however I agree with the other comments that this set up is a pretty good deal at €599. I’ve built several jet boards and parts alone are well over $1000 without the board. So kudos to aqua marina for getting a quality product out there for $650. Trust me that’s cheap.

As a sup fisherman I would prefer to use a sealed agm battery with 35 amp hours. For all day use as 2 hours per lithium pack is to small! Even 2 packs at 4 hrs is risky. I fish some very large inland reservoirs. Whith strong afternoon winds. This type of battery can be charged from vehicles alternator or a household battery charger. At 12v dc

Using the bluedrive s with the tomahawk air k 375. First i was satisfied with the speeds, i go like 4km/h on first setting and 5km/h on second setring. But then: I have a left side drift, have to steer right often to keep tracking my course. This could be the kayaks build issue. Second cond, the power dies when having 2 blocks battery out of 4. After this i can keep using the motor for several seconds, then again dies The battery indicator isn'y correct. I feel like it never shows 1/4 battery, instead it shows 2/4 battery till it dies. Very unsatisfied with this product...

For the battery it lasted like 48minutes in low speed only and the battery showed still 2 blocks of batter. The battery was not 100% dead, if i could go for another 10min extra, woudl be fine, so the cells are still OK. Personally, I don't think an hour is enough. I'd much rather pay a bit extra for a 2 hour+ battery.

Like an electric bike turn it off when going down hill and on the flat only use it for assistance when going up hills. Double the battery life. 😀😃😄😁😆😅🤣😂

@@SolarPowerChannelwithChris took the plunge and ordered it from Banggood around 300 GBP. Tested it out of the water.. all looks good and functional. Had to modify the mounting to fit my Decathlon SUP (Itiwit). Took a bit of doing.. used a Dremel and 220 grit sand paper. Fits perfectly now.. but took about 3 hours of careful shaping (the AQUA Marina mount is rectangular but the itiwit female mount is tapered). Taking it out with the kids this afternoon.. fingers crossed!

@@SolarPowerChannelwithChris Worked a treat! Tested it in a marina (in Singapore), so not exposed to open sea and no real currents. We're planning on taking it out next weekend to some of the smaller islands around Singapore - open seas and stronger currents. Will let you know how we do (assuming we survive the experiment!).

I am thinking on buying the electric fin, however the SUP is not the same brand, does anyone know if the fin attachment point is standard on all sups?

  • @SUPboardermag

Fin attachments are not all the same on every board. If you have a slot box or slide in fin box, this fin will fit. If you have a US centre fin box in your board, you can buy an attachment to fit the fin. Hope this helps. Thanks, Beau
