Electric Boost On A Small Surfboard? | Testing Boost Fin On Bali

Спорт

Pre-order with a Special Price 20% off - check out at boost.surf/smallboard
Our CTO and co-founder of Boost Surfing, Alex is still in Bali, this time testing the fin on a small board. We've been receiving quite a lot of questions from people wondering if there's much drag with the Boost fin attached to a small board.
Alex is always up for testing things out and luckily he's just recently received new adapters, so he grabbed a small 7.6 Malibu board, attached the fin and went into the ocean! Check out the video to see how well the Boost fin performed!
There's still time to get your Boost Fin at a special pre-order price - only $349!

Looks cool. Hardware launches are very difficult, and I wish you all the best in your efforts. Purists and Soul Surfers may balk, but that is what skiers did when snowboards first hit the slopes. Some people hated cars, and preferred to ride their horse. You will not please everyone, but older surfers I think will appreciate it. I am very excited for you, your company, and your developers.

Thank you so much guys I’ve just ordered one I’ve had acromioclavicular joint problems since I was 19 after breaking the end of my clavicle where it meets the AC joint. I lost my mum in 2018. My last family member alive and it took me four years with ADHD and dyslexia to get through The process By which time my muscles of atrophied and I had gained over four stone in weight and was suffering from very severe depression to slip discs. Arthritis in both knees after five meniscectomy on both knees ankle mobility issues and going from 15 stone all the way up to 23. I’m back down to 19 stone now and my brachioradialis went into spasm. This week tighten the tendon through the AC joint and I’ve torn it again. This happens every time I start training again I’ve tried everything in the book as far as rebuilding the muscle, and synergy between the scapular and shoulder muscle balance chain You reach a point at 45, not making much progress still not back in the water can’t stick it anymore ! Thank you for this incredible invention, as I know this will be the only way that I can get back to paddling lightly again without tearing it 🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍👍

I now have a post-op right shoulder that subluxes only during takeoffs, not during the 2 miles a week of pool swim training I do. There is nothing at all wrong with my surfing once I pop up. I haven't tried the boost, but if I could do takeoffs without a knife going in my shoulder would be a godsend.

Hey Joe! Thanks for the support, it means a lot to us. You can pre-order your Boost Fin on our official website here boostsurfing.com/preorder/ We provide a 1-year warranty on the Fin (2 years for the European market) and a 6-month warranty on the battery. It will cover any production damage that happened on our end (for example, if the fin was delivered malfunctioning), in this case, we will cover the shipping costs as well. About the battery. For surfing There are 2 modes (that are mostly used)- long boosts for paddling out and short boosts for catching waves. By default, it’s set to 8 and 20 secs accordingly but that can be easily adjusted in the mobile app, as well as the power output. One fully-charged battery provides 100 short boosts at full power which in our experience is enough for 1.5 to 2 hour sessions. With different setups you can get even more out of it. Cheers!😜

Hey! There's a wrist control with 2 buttons - short and long (or continuous) boost. Using the app you can adjust the duration and power settings before you go. And also, you can always stop the Boost fin before the end of the boost by simply pushing the button one more time - in case you fall off for example. We tested it in the pool with a 150lb guy paddling at the same time on a 9' surfboard - top speed was 11 mph. For Surfing: One 60 to 90-minute surf session * You will have 2 modes - long boosts for paddling out and short boosts for catching waves. By default, it’s set to 8 and 20 secs accordingly but that can be easily adjusted in the app, as well as the power output. One fully-charged battery provides 100 boosts at full power which in our experience is enough for 90-minute surf sessions. Different setups result in a different runtime and you can get even more out of it. For SUP: One 60-minute session * If you use the Boost Fin continuously at 100% motor power it will last between 15-20 mins depending on conditions. However, if you set the motor to 30-40% power which should be good enough for cruising on a SUP, then it will be 30-45 minutes. This is enough to be able to go a little further out or make it back in with the wind blowing strong. And again, it doesn't have to be on all the time. Use it a safety net if you'd like - then it'll last longer.

Hey Chad! We spent a lot of time trying to find a perfect balance between shape, power, and battery life. The components are compact enough to where we were able to house them into a streamline casing that allows for minimum drag while paddling or riding. Feathering prop helps to minimize the drag on a wave. It has a maximized propeller pitch and a blade surface nearly parallel to the water flow to minimize resistance when it's not in operation. So you will only feel it at higher speeds on big waves. On flat water there's 0.89-1% extra drag - tested on a 9' longboard. So if we are talking about cruising on a sup it's even less. You can paddle with the motor off easily. But anyways, we will keep on innovating our fin to meet the demands of worldwide clients and achieving win-win success. Cheers!

What you give up in performance isn't worth the extra wave catching ability. Get in the gym and do shoulders and back.

Get your point, but people get sick and have things go wrong when they get older. Not for everyone but definitely a need for the right peeps to stay in the game for a little longer and have more fun out there 😉 🤙🏻

If you don't have the skill to paddle out and catch waves, the break is beyond your ability and you are a hazard to others. If you use this to give yourself an advantage catching waves, you deserve to be dropped in on.

For the hard core anything less than the basics won't be a win as those people have put in their work to earn their gains but for struggling paddlers and regular guys looking to enjoy the sport more it's a better fit. We understand the emotional component behind it and how it can be controversial in the surf community. Snaking could be a problem but it all comes down to common sense. If someone is a hog, they will still be a hog regardless as to fin choice. Perhaps if we can manage our own problem then everyone can enjoy and share the waves without the unnecessary aggro. After all surfing is meant to be about having fun

@@bonbonbonfire Someone who doesn't even possess the very basic minimal skills to catch a wave unassisted is a much bigger hazard and will not be able to control or hold on to their board. This is how most injuries occur. And yes if you are using something like this to sit way outside and give yourself an unfair advantage, of course you are going to get looks or get dropped in on. No one that can actually surf is going to want this thing on their board just from a performance perspective. Also I never claimed to be bright, but I also never said I dropped on people, just that it would be deserved. Luckily this kooky fad has not made it up our way yet.
