In the original video he talked about using tribal lands to set up distribution sites. I dropped a short note to the local tribal council in my area of N.C. to see if they want to check it out. We also have the requirement for local dealers to distribute cars instead of direct purchase.

Glad I wasn't at work when I watched this. When you said it backwards, I just burst out laughing! I was in the damn webinar and I missed that! :-P I Honestly like SOLR better. SEV would be great, but I don't want to grave-rob just yet. ;-P SUNA will grow on me as well. :-) Hell, if they start production in 2025, they are free to call it ANUS if they want to! When the first accelerators receive their vehicles, I'm going to cry. I haven't even pre-ordered one yet. I'll just be incredible proud of Aptera when they do. 🙂

They haven't delivered a single car and are already talking about an IPO? For reference, Tesla was shipping cars for 2 years before their IPO. I want to believe the Aptera car will be real since I've been waiting for it since 2008, but I'm unsure about the founders' motivations. I hope they prove me wrong by making cars (lots of them) instead of just PowerPoint presentations. Tesla made 2,000 cars before even considering an IPO. I hope the founders are reading this. Get the car into production. My daughter was entering kindergarten when I first signed up; she's now starting medical school. I've waited that long. Cut anything that gets in the way of making the first 2,000, including solar panels for those who don't want them. After you've delivered 1,000, then start talking IPO.

I feel like there might be an interesting story behind "SUNA". Cain't wait to hear it.

I have noted that any current Polydrops trailers or estimates of power generation may be for the Chinese panels, since we don't know the schedule for production of the panels. But that's Aptera's panel as shown by Steve Fanbro on the trailer pictured. You can see the logo on the back. I think the idea is the A in SUNA is for Aptera. There's no telling why they had to choose that.

Seeing their solar tech going all over the place makes me wish I could afford to invest more.

Thanks Steve, Too risky to take over SONO? SUNA is actually better anyway. "Soon Ah" as my ancestors might have said. How about an article on Polydrops? I bet they'd be eager to work with you.

Also remember Teslas first car ( the roadster) had so many issues, they were overwhelmed with cars returned for repairs, there is a video of Musk in the repairshop showing them overwhelmed with problems with him saying " just put a new motor in it"...... So aptera has one hell of a long way to go, actually getting to production is going to be a long haul, then there will be returned cars with unpredicted mechanical or electrical issues to be repaired, its just the way things go and they need to really get moving with production its a long long long way to go.

Another off topic: the tesla battery factory out in the desert ( I forget the location in usa), I was surprised to learn some time ago that panasonic had their own manfacturing in that building, although everyone assumed it was a tesla factory building its own batteries, it was in fact a tesla building with another company in there making the batteries...that quite surprised me, I realise Tesla now building some of their own batteries near the car factory location. Its strange how things work.

This is a bit off topic: but there might be something to be said for a different crash test solution to the current absorb energy solution. Since Aptera is basically a shell of composites, perhaps rather than absorbing energy if the energy is converted to kinetic energy in the shell........sounds crazy.....but if the Aptera bounces off another vehicle(s) in a crash that might be one way to survive the impact. A bit like the russian astronauts who hit the ground hard in a spherical shell, maybe being bounced out of the way would be better than being crushed? Bounce off one car, into another bounce off that.....and eventually survive........maybe?

I think they should concentrate wholly on production now, there have been too many promises of production over too many years that really its not believable anymore when they say production will happen by a given time. Having too many different projects when the aptera itself is extremely complex will just slow things down, focus on one thing is needed and that thing is production. just my 10c worth

That they have waited until the PI’s to actually put all systems together in one place and test is ultra high risk, program-wise. Mules would normally have been done starting 2 years ago with the Gamma. The last thing you do with something unproven in final form is go make more of them. It will take the balance of the year before we even know what they have.

Yep, I was thinking there was opportunity for a lightweight solar panel that is fairly long lasting. Lightyear still has a small solar business income , doing that.

The potential of the solar IP caused me to invest more. Every RV should have a roof of Aptera panels. Diversify!

The ticket symbol is irrelevant. Getting the car to production is what is important.

I don't care how they sound their ticker symbol as long as the Aptera stock go up every year.

Sun-Aptera is how I'll think of SUNA. Definitely gonna pronounce it to rhyme with tuna though.

The Solar cells are really good, any residential or commercial real estate applications? Also, is it too late to change the ticker name? SUNA isn't related to Aptera, at all.

A power collecting trailer could charge the front and assist with powered wheels and regenerative breaking way down the road. . . Propane and liquid gas requires a catalytic converter to reduce carbon monoxide gas buildup and all the dangers including the wasted heat produced as the carbon monoxide is converted to carbon dioxide.

The intention is to IPO after about only 500 deliveries, not 5,000, per Audra. IPO is therefore intended for around Q3 2025.

Do you really believe they will deliver 500 vehicles by Q3 of 2025? I doubt. But in the best scenario that they do, IPO will still be 6 to 9 months from there.

Preparation will be when the timeline for starting production is clear. 500 vehicles delivered within Q3 2025 is very possible. Just need to finalize securing production funding within the next 2-3 months.

They also intimated for the first time in their recent update that they would need up to 6 to 9 months preparation in order to IPO. They didn't make any time connection between the two. Your interpretation is your own reading, not Aptera's.

Tesla didn't have an IPO until they were making cars for 2 years already. The focus should be on engineering, I fear it is not their primary motivation.

@@alansnyder8448 Aptera is a somewhat different company than Tesla. All of their technology is outsourced, very little is done in-house except for assembly. If they can prove they are capable of assembling the vehicle, that will validate the value of the company.

I suspect SUNA is an evolution from the Luna name they have already recast a couple of times. Sun reference rather than the moon reference makes sense for a sEV. Kinda lame, but I can see the logical progression there.

Given the massive expenditures required to get Aptera into production, the solar diversion seems like trying to fund an F1 program with a bake sale, but who knows? Year end SEC will show what it’s actually generating I would presume.

@willparish7646 Efficiency actually, of which the on-board solar is a part. My comment was not against that, it was primarily against them taking their eyes off the vehicle ball. They could do both, of course, but see no short term $ of consequence on the solar.

Providing their solar technology to other customers not only brings in funding to help tool up the Aptera for production, it also gets their solar panels on the road and into real world conditions where their performance and robustness can be tested. When the Aptera comes out, there will already be Aptera solar panels on the market, and the Aptera vehicle will provide more real world advertising for the panels. The more panels on the market the better.

The CEC grant is supposed to cover solar/battery development and production so the money to build out a production line is potentially there. The thing that concerns me is the fact that they have only utilized 6% of it as of 2023 SEC filing.

APTR is "killer" !!!! SUNA is cute

Sono Motors and Lightyear were also doing Solar integration for others, they had 20 different trials with customers, all of them stopped after the first trial Solar integration is not that hard on flat surfaced vehicles, and companies are cheaper of doing it themselves, and in most cases solar integration is not economically viable, it's just way cheaper and more efficient to put the solar panels on the roof of the companies and charge the vehicles with that energy

@@alansnyder8448 I wasn't clear. I was referring to the solar powered camping trailer with 1200 watts of solar panels, not Aptera the vehicle. Solar on your home only helps if you are plugged in at home. Most people don't and often can't get solar installed where they live. But where do you get that 20 miles per day figure? For the Aptera? 20 miles per day average might be correct in cloudier climates where you may live, like the NE or NW US. The company has a solar calculator on their site that lets you estimate the annual mileage you should get based on where you live. Here in NJ, that's about free 8000 miles. I'll take that. If you live in sunnier places like SW US, you should get closer to 11,000 free miles from the sun.

@@fotoguru222 Thanks for the clarification. The 20 miles is my guess as to what the real benefit will be. Charging a battery from solar panels isn't nearly as easy as people might think, and I've worked at enough start-ups to observe how C-level types simplify and hype up something to generate marketing buzz or mislead investors. I'm really dubious of the "solar mobility" spin of Aptera. I feel they should be going after the most efficient commuter car idea instead. One where they keep it a unique small 2 seater for people that don't want to be in a massive SUV for going to work or getting a few groceries. One where the focus is mass producing something to be the most affordable EV. That would be less "hype" but a more realistic pitch. I could see Aptera being the "VW Beetle" of the EV car with a dedicated following (I've been waiting since 2008), but instead, I see a solar mobility hype train which makes me worried it is just a grift where the IPO and sell-out before people realize the reality.

Why tow it? The trailer has a battery large enough for a traction battery if it had in wheel motors! Create the software to have the trailer convoy behind the Aptera coupled via Bluetooth or …? No physical connection required!

APTR would have been my choice - they will be correcting people for the rest of their lives with SUN-A. It will undoubtedly be SUNA (like tuna)

It should be able to supplement Aptera's vehicle sales, but I think Sono and Lightyear are not going to make a profit just by selling panels. Maybe they're onto something though. Or maybe Aptera will renew interest in those solar cars. It depends a lot on how solar catches on and how fast the technology develops.

Who cares about the ticker symbol? SUNA (SUN A-)ptera. It may not have been their first choice. 🤷‍♂️

SUNA is really not great. APTE or APTR would be way better. Build the brand!

@RomanChaar Well done! ANUS until proven SUNA. Someone suggested SUNE was available. A better choice: If things work out, it’s “sunny”. If things continue as they are, it’s “soon”, like the perpetual reclocking of the milestones!

I also pronounced it as in TUNA and I bet the majority of Americans and the rest of the world are going to pronounce it as in TUNA unless they hear Aptera or their fans pronounce it for them first. As I wrote on the comment section of the update, SUNY would have closer in pronunciation while retaining the power-giving "sun."

@@tskogen6905 based on the investor video, Aptera said when they get into volume production… it will remain to be seen how far into the year (2025) we go or possibly 2026 after they get a good number of production line quirks/optimizations done. Fingers crossed

So why not ask Chris who is making their panels because its obvious its not happening in Carlsbad. For a company claiming to be so open they keep dropping "oh yeah, we have someone else doing that" surprises. Just like we have to wait to find out who is building their hub motors or if they are even using hub motors. Averest is very small, works with flux power of all companies, and has an hydrogen solution. They repackage other company products. They have one contract with Delta at one airport. Polydrop has sold less than a hundred trailers with a recent interview back around October saying just over sixty. So neither of these are going to generate a revenue stream that will have any impact anytime soon. Let alone neither even mentions Aptera on their own sites or social media.

Looks like those companies are just going to be proving grounds and advertising for Aptera solar rather than revenue generators. It could be worse I suppose.

I just hope that CA does not copy the criminal act of Elon, create a competing business in AI while working for Tesla AI. An act that defies the rules of NDA, ethics and smacks of conflicts of interests.
