This lens is AWESOME. It's been a month since I got it and it is one of my favorite lens (I own about 10 Fuji X mount lens). It produces flares when pointed directly to light sources but the effects are absolutely lovely. It transforms your Fuji camera into a manual focus film camera. Thanks Mark for your amazing work!!

The infinity stop is adjustable via the three small set screws. Search other videos to see/hear about details. I did it on my copy and my TTArtisan 50mm f/1.2. On this lens, it was difficult to break free the focus ring because they used too much lock tight during assembly. But I got it after warming up the lens a bit. Anyway, once you adjust the infinity stop to exactly infinity focus, it’s nice for when to shoot distant subjects like landscapes or sunsets.

This is the first lens I picked up for my XE-1. Using it with the first gen xtrans sensor has been just a lovely experience. This camera and lens combo have really scratched my itch for wanting to get back into film. Which I’m grateful for because film processing cost adds up quick.

I generally like TTartisans' offerings, having several of them now. This is one of my favourites. The size and build quality is just perfect for me and the FOV is great. It offers a hint of wideness without being obviously wide like a 23mm or wider. I find my copy has a very good IQ and I have no complaints on that front. Pair it with the similarly designed 50mm f2 and you have a perfect travel duo. I really wish TTartisans would release a 35mm f2 in the same body style. The hard infinity stop on many TTartisans lenses are not accurate. No worries. It is a simple job to calibrate them oneself if required.

Oh, this is perfect! Long time fan here, I bought some canon M6 MII gear a while back before taking a journey with Fuji. I was thrilled to see you do more videos for aps-c camera lenses. I’ve been hankering for a 35mm equivalent and have been trying to make my Fuji X-t1 more pocketable. Thanks so much for the great video! Can’t wait to play with it! I tend to really enjoy f1.4 lenses, but this looks too good to pass up. Thanks again!

I paired that lenses with my xt4 and love it. I was looking for a pancake lens and chose that one to force me to practice manual focus more often, and obviously the 40$ price here is Asia was attractive. As someone mentioned as soon as you direct it to some source lights, it creates some very nice flares. the image is soft, i love to use it for some documentary style projects and it’s my everyday day lens to shoot my family.

I have and use this on my X-E4. It’s heavier than it looks, and heavier than the Fuji 27mm f2.8, but is very enjoyable with that manual focus vibe and has nice character. I totally agree about the general irrelevance of vignetting and to some degree the extreme corner sharpness. It’s all about usage. Work with the character of the gear to create character in the image.

Yes, although right now the cost of used lenses has dropped a lot, and you really don't need very many lenses as long as you choose wisely. It's probably the biggest benefit to all this mirrorless nonsense that the previous lenses have become extremely inexpensive on the used market and often the bodies as well. This is probably one of the best times to get into photography that folks will ever have.

Great review. It is my impression that a click/stop at infinity reflects manufacturing confidence. And other lenses that go beyond infinity reflect a certain manufacturing sloppiness. I would regard the halo flare as character rather than a flaw. An interesting lens.

Hi from France, I ordered this lens for last christmas 2022 (mounted on Nikon z50) and I'm absolutely satisfied and agree with your review. Great lens for very low budget that's woth the money. But exactly, the flare is just dramatic and really present with high light situation and it's worst under the summer sun, which is too bad because i cannot find any lens hood on the internet for this lens. With one so, that would be better for avoiding hand cover situation^^ Nice review by the way I like your work for testing those lenses, your opinion is honest.

It looks great on video and it makes a awesome point and shoot lens for the m50 which for me ive had a long love/hate relationship with. But this lens made the camera fit a niche for me outside of my professional photography camera. Its very unassuming and its easy for me to carry the m50 and that lens with me in places my full frame and 24-70 might get some unwanted attention.

I use the one from my 35 f2 and the Fuji lens cap all the time on the TT 25 f2. My copy the focus goes way past infinity. I bought it too for 60 bucks at first I was not very happy because my impression was that focusing was difficult with open a. but it is the fastest lens I own and all lenses have plus and minuses. I showed pictures to a friend, who is a professional photographer, not one single complain. Its not the gear which makes the photo….I was in the business to buy a much more expensive lens with similar specs and guess what… there were similar minuses… the perfect lens doesn’t exist. Maybe Leica is close but since digital is the medium those expensive lenses look overly sharp to my eyes. Even with those top notch work from Germany we never had this over sharp pictures in the analog days…its too good to be true. Another great argument is. I love to visit exhibitions of famous photographers. Last one was Newton. They showed the gear he used. Surprise it wasn’t the best gear money can buy. He used Pentax lenses we can buy for 50 bucks today. Pretty much prosumer stuff, and his pictures were cool. I guess the same is true for his wife Alice Springs. She kept gorgeous moments in pictures. In one mirror shot she used a canon which I also owned back in the 80s. She is just a much better photographer than I am… 😂😮😂

I've had this lens for almost a year, and think you did an excellent job of describing its pros and cons. I did end up wanting to use it often for shallow depth-of-field, backlit shots of forest and meadow scenes, and its terrible flaring really disqualified it for that. I ended up buying something else to use for those kinds of shots. But otherwise, it's a much nicer lens than it has a right to be for its price.

Another great video Mark. I really like their 23mm F1.4, with the retro styling. It's an awesome lens, and only a few bucks more (and a tad bigger) than the f2.0.

I am a big fan of budget lenses that deliver, BUT I am also a big fan of buying a lens once and not having to return it several times to get a good one (Samyang/Rokinon). So my question is, how many of this particular lens do I have to buy before I get a good one?

I have this lens and it's great, but I do wish the focus ring was far stiffer. It would make zone focusing much easier.

i have the 50mm version for the Nikon Z mount. got it for around 75 dollars. Manual lens is something every beginner should get. It helps you slow down between photos so it fixes the overshooting habit we develop when we use smartphone and forces you to learn about the effect of aperture and depth of field.

Thanks for another great video on a TTartisan lense. The 35mm F1.4 or this 25mm lense is my next buy definitely. Following the idea of budget photography ... how would both of these lenses perform as macro lense using just some converter rings? And is there any additional equipment you can recommend for these lenses like filters or a lense hood?

hi there is something not very clear for me, this is advertised as a aps-c lens with a field view of 25mm but here are you saying this is something close to a 35mm when you use ti in a aps-c camera???? so the 35mm of the same brand, branded as a aps-c lens would give you an equivalent around 50mm???? so that means these lenses are for full frame? Or am i going to get they view field they advertise because its specific for a aps-c camera?
