Aprilia Tuono V4 vs. RSV4 RR Review: Which one for the same money?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Both of them have the same price - at least in our market. The Aprilia Tuono costs 17.200 euros, while the RSV4RR is 17.000. So, if having the money, which one would you buy? This is just one of the answers we wanted to get from this review. More than that, we wanted to push the Tuono to the limits on track, and to get a first ride with the RSV4RR.

    Tuono. Love the RSV4, but the Tuono is the king of the hill, the legend, the bike that defined the category. Plus, Tuono means thunder, checkmate.

    Raised clipons, tall screen and rear sets gives you the best of both worlds on the RSV4 whilst being able to be used more effectively on track. I recently bought an RSV4 RR 2020 and with these mods it will be the best in my opinion as you get a lot more wind protection. The RSV4 also needs -1 on the front sprocket as you are still on the clutch in first at circa 20mph! Standard against standard, the Tuono is likely better if you are using the bike mostly on the road however the best deals right now are on the RSV4's!!

    Enjoyed ur review alot, im very tempted to drop deposit on new Tuono, been doing quite alot trackdays and ive always gravitated towards sportbikes for that one reason but now i kinda wanna do the odd trackday here and there but also do roads so u kinda hit the nail on the head with this review. Props to u my man and btw I have done 2 trackdays in Motorpark Romania along time ago and was great fun, i think it was motoevolution that ran the event and it was one my best experiences in track…

    The Tuono is not 175hp to the wheel but to the crank. With race ecu and akra around 178 to the crank. And for the suspension you can modify it however you want and dont have to have it on automatick. So for the suspension wise its no different. The different is the front end on the RSV and the power and power delivery/gearing.

    I own 2017 Tuono 1100 RR and I wouldn't recommend it for people who need a comfortable street bike. The engine feels very twitchy and clunky in lower RPMs and ergonomics relatively aggressive for a naked bike. The first, few weeks of ownership the bike didn't feel right on the street roads and I was kinda disappointed but after taking it to the twisty roads and the track I got in love with the bike. It's a superbike in its soul and it wants you to push it all the time. The bike is all about the performance the comfort aspect is highly compromised.

    Cool to see, though in America the cost is quite different. Tuono V4 RR is 15,500 and the RSV4 RR is 17,500. I've heard the Tuono needs new suspension, but that's it's cheaper to get nicer suspension and the cheaper bike.

    For me it was the Tuono, the upright handle bars make it much easier to flick around and wheelie. That combined with being tuned and geared more for the street I think you get much more of the power where you can enjoy it. I put over 10k miles on my tuono in the first year I owned it, it's just one of those bikes that make you want to get out and ride it.

    My question is, how did you get away with a "wheelie" on the Tuono? I own a new Tuono RR, and I've set the AWC to the lowest setting (1), and my bike still chokes down & stutters if there wheel comes up more than 1/2 inch off the ground! How do you wheelie the Tuono?

  • @indranilbose11

    @indranilbose11

    3 жыл бұрын

    AWC lowest setting is not 1, it is off, as indicated by a - (minus sign) on the screen. Select AWC in the on screen settings and hold the minus paddle for 3 seconds. This will set the AWC off completely. But you will still need to set ATC setting down to about 1 or 2 to be able to hold the wheelie (above 3 the ATC is set to rather safe mode, will not let u pick up the front wheel that easily).

  • @MIKEDRISCOLL45

    @MIKEDRISCOLL45

    @@indranilbose11 Thank you for the explanation & instruction! I didn't know about holding the paddle down for 3 seconds... That's not in the owner's manual (that I've seen). I like the ATC & ABS as they help in corners sometimes. I keep those set pretty low. But I would enjoy lifting the front wheel more often! I'll try that AWC setting today.

  • @awdeveau

    @awdeveau

    @@MIKEDRISCOLL45 definitely turn wheelie control off completely if you want to play around. I find wheelie control very intrusive, but after turning it off my biggest issue was getting used to the engine braking of the V4 when trying to keep it in balance point.

  • @MIKEDRISCOLL45

    So I turned AWC completely off, as indicated by - - marks. I love it now! I can actually ride normally again, without the bike choking down & flinging me over the handlebars every time I twist the throttle hard. Much better! Thank you for the tips, guys.
