Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 RR Review, Jeff Ware

Фильм және анимация

The 2017 Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 RR was mildly updated for this year, with revised electronics setting, TFT dash, larger brake rotors, higher spec Brembo calipers and a re-positioned IMU along with some styling changes. The last major update was in 2015 but the current version proves to be a more refined motorcycle. Check out our review video here and the full test on BikeReview.com.au Sorry about the wind noise!

    Well done review sir. I have this exact machine, except it’s the “Factory” version. You’ve caught all my points about the bike after my ownership of six months. I have changed out the levers, also the fuel cap to a “quick release” type. But it’s an awesome and fun motorcycle. Thank you.

    It does sound amazing stock but you have to feel the weight of that exhaust with the catalytic converter off. I just put a slip on and it sounds 10 times better not overly loud but just something sensational

    its such a good bike. I test rode one at a ducati demo day and they asked me what I want to ride, never really rode a sport or supersport and chose the rsv44 and they offered the tuono because I didnt want to wait another half hour. I saw the tuono with the higher up bars and fell in love with that part right away. around town it'll power wheelie like nothing. once we got on the highway I was the last one in the pack, I had it leaned all the way over on its left side and it was magical. touched 105mph and said holy smokes I just touched third gear and had to back off. Kinda a little bit too fast for me but wow, it handled amazing and felt so so good leaning a bike over like that. I ride a Yamaha Stryker, no speed demon but has passing power and torque down low. I love a good vtwin idle chop but looks so nice to feel a bike leaned over like the sport bikes can do, thats what has my interest

    The only other person I have heard mention steering lock was Zach Courts on MC Commute. I would use it some days to commute, but I have a tight driveway and garage setup, and the only dealers is > 2 hours away and no way of test riding one to my house.

    Hi jake, I have a 899 Panigale,I am 6ft 2 and finding it a little cramped, how is the aprilia with the leg room compared to the Ducati? Obviously the bars are much higher but I’m wondering about leg room.also can you set the wheelie control to a certain height on the 2017 factory model? So if you pin the throttle the wheel just lifts to a pre set height? Many thanks and great review

    GREAT REVIEW but if you read the manual to this maschine (european version (im from germany): quickshifter use only above 4000 rpm; full throttle only above 4000 rpm; always ride above 3000 rpm exept first and second gear (due to agressive camshaft).Nice to know: If you decelerate in 6th Gear and the motor drops below 4000 rpm you get a thunder like crackle (which has been integrated into the mapping of the bike stock). I never testrode my tuono 1100....my first ride i was 30mins in a state like a kid getting all the presents on christmas. Dont commute on this god of a bike but play the bike like an instrument. The stock exhaust note is BRUTAL in real life and changes quite a bit depending on rpm and throttle input! The bike is better than sex for me!

    almost forgot: due to 13:1 compression ratio you really feel the bike change in hot weather (above 25 °C) if you use premium gas/petrol. I use 102 octane in summer and regular 95 octane below 20 °C ((I often ride with my girlfriend on my RR so i got longer times at full throttle than riding alone)). At Gas Station: Dont fill it up to the absolut max because petrol expands when it gets warm (due to tank being over hot v4 engine).....my bike once spilled a few drops (around 10-25) out of the overflow.

    How does the Aprilia compare in reliability terms say against the Ducati? I like the Tuono but not sure on the reliability and maintenance.

  • @BikeReviewcomau

    @BikeReviewcomau

    6 жыл бұрын

    Hi Jake, I'd say to be honest, both brands are close in terms of reliability and maintenance. I've owned Aprilia's since around 1999, lots of them, and yes have had some issues but to be expected and not too bad considering what I put my bikes through. I have also had a few Ducati's, so I can compare. It is a trade off for a highly tuned Italian bike! Japanese bikes are quite reliable but they also have issues so I say ride the bikes you are interested in and choose from there, if your heart is set on an Aprilia, buy one. One thing though, Ducati have a larger more established dealer network and spares stock for support. Jeff.

    DR just left a dealer in Austin and they have a couple 19’s left...2,900 off msrp, free Leo Vince exhaust/mid pipe and ECU race mapping. Total with taxes and everything was $14,900 out the door.

    Only difference between the factory and RR is electronic Ohilns suspension and a rear passenger seat cover...the electronic packages are the same on both bikes. Personally I like the 19 flat black RR

    I don't understand why people think that the Tuono and the RSV4 not made for tall people I'm 6 foot 4, 240 pounds I fit on the aprilia's better than a lot of Japanese bikes

  • @moralrevulsionLive

    @moralrevulsionLive

    5 жыл бұрын

    Indeed actually i believe is made for taller than 1.75 people. I had the rsv4 factory 2010 and i was on my tip toes and i am 1.75. Also the stock suspension was tuned for people over 75kg as i am a jockey rider 60kgs and found it extemely stiffer. Once i got it on my kgs it got better. Many believe is made with max biaggi's height and weight specs 1.68-1.70 but it really isnt if thats the case then my 2005 honda rr repsol would be the bike with those specs as he was on 2005 at the repsol team. So yeah my honda fits me as a glove but the aprilia simply for taller bigger riders.

    Martin Zvarík I’m the worst person to give riding advice... I’ve always just done what feels confident but my own style has worked for me as I raced at A grade level for 23-years. There is a fundamental style that is needed but once you gain experience you will find your own style. Have a look at MotoGP - so many different styles all doing the same lap time... just like we all walk or run differently in subtle ways.
